Mason Mount proving once again he’s the first name on the Chelsea and England teamsheet
Foden is good, but one dimensional. Mount is the more complete player
Let’s hope their talents aren’t wasted by being managed by Southgate.......
But Foden doesn't play for Chelsea so how could be the first name?
After Kane
In all honesty, what does it matter? As a Chelsea fan I’m delighted with Mount’s development this season where I can see him becoming a top player. I’m also happy to see Foden given more opportunities and prove that he is a special talent. I can foresee a whole Gerrard Vs Lampard debate in the future! Why not just enjoy the talent that both Foden & Mount possess? That is aimed more at the responses
You might be right, they are both right up there, lets hope it bodes well for England. I don't have much faith in the manager though
No2 on teamsheet coz he can ue both feet also and a brain twice size of Sterlin' while I am at it finish off with Rice and Grealish for midfield and lets go fwd with the ball and less back/side passing which is so .. yawn yawn. These lads excite
And Kane, and Stirling and Mcguire, and Rashford, and........well more or less half the team actually.
Mount and Foden have won a World Cup together, beating Spain and Brazil in the process. That alone gives them more useful experience for tournaments than playing Burnley twice a year for ten years. Should be a joint foundation of the England team to come for a few years if treated correctly. Add in Kane and Sterling and build everything else around to suit.
As a Chelsea fan would agree with you, mount superb but Foden is diff sauce...
Great to see an English side on the up in Europe.
Tuchel seems to be doing something right at the moment too, well done Chelsea!

BBC deleted my comment yesterday questioning the game's integrity after very suspicious refereeing decisions in Man City-Dortmund. Yet they leave this blatantly xenophobic comment up?
Says it all about the BBC.
Says it all about the BBC.
sad comment. A bit like saying wud prefer Moaner to Poch. nice result 2nite for PSG eh?
If Lampard was still manager Chelsea would be out of the FA cup, The CL and be about 12th in the league
You must start watching Premier League,as you will see it every week.Vardy,Salah,Mane et al
Does Jack Grealish play now for a foreign team?
Chelsea is a foreign team.
and Man City
Chelsea is a foreign team too if you didn’t know that. “Foreign team”. Some people mannnnn.

Just how many 'English' players regularly start for the likes of Chelsea,Tottenham,Man Utd,Man City,Liverpool ,Leicester, foreign teams my left foot.
More racist bile.
And then when it’s two premier league teams playing, wait, don’t tell me, that’s black players for you ....
Take the knee before corn flakes if I were you. Then learn prejudice and how to overcome it Removed

Oh be quiet, you utter muppet. If you watch league football in Spain and Portugal you'll see that's a fact.
To be fair, some Premier league teams aren't far behind these days, but those leagues have always been worse for it. Removed

Admire your humour.
See my post. a wonderful 2 footed player with skills to match, Poor goalie tho'. His pull back with his wrong foot ( OMG sik of punnets saying this!!) was very nice but not sensational, and is xpected by the better ball players. Goal was not sensational either just very good. hes paid to deliver and does regularly. So less rubbish talk robbie Shud also b captain of England. natural leader unlike
Chelsea is a 1 man team at mo. Stop Mount. Stop Chelsea
Brilliant Chelsea. Again proving why we are easily England's best and most successful club in Europe. As I said ages ago Chelsea to see off Real Madrid in the semi and set up an all English final with two BIG clubs unlike the embarrassment last time of lowly Liverpool and Spurs that damaged English football's reputation!
Most teams are owned by billionaires WAKE UP
Every single successful football club brought trophies and success. I take it by your comments your new to following football otherwise you would have known about this
So which is it? Does the money matter, or is it pure luck? Can't be both. Not that you actually had a logical thought in there, but still felt obliged to point out the obvious contradiction.
Great to see an English side on the up in Europe.
Tuchel seems to be doing something right at the moment too, well done Chelsea!

The PL seems bad week to week but then you watch European teams and its a whole other level. You’d think the Porto players would have developed a bit more steel after a few training sessions with Pepe.
Luckily the ref didn’t fall for it as badly as others have - Mount’s ridiculous 1st minute card against AM.

So, if Chelsea are at 'home' next week do they get to choose what dressing room they can hang their wallets in?
All wallets must be handed in to security before the match starts. This includes jewellery, keys to Teslas,Land Rovers etc. You are of course allowed to keep your ego with you at all times, weather permitting.
Surely they will be in the traditional ‘valuables bag’, usually the keepers sock?
The winners dressing room. With spurs cleaning up the mess afterwards. Cos that's as close as the spuds will get to winning something,
Really ?????
With Lionel Messi getting over 1m euros a week about 1m pounds a week after tax his wallet bulges more than anyone else.
Is that a joke? Aren't all prem players well paid? Next time try writing something that works or is funny
Not a Chelsea fan but a professional performance & the debate on Arnold & James
Well judging by the last couple of nights James for me

Not a Chelsea fan but I always like to see British teams do well in European football tournaments. Outplayed Porto and thoroughly deserved the win. Only half time but looks good for the semi finals for the blues ????
He said British actually, but as they play in the English premier league and are all based in England, English applies too.
By your definition you'd have to go to non-league to find an English side.

You don’t really like football do you?
Apart from diverse cheaters in the P/L currently. Hazard did dive, especially when chopped down by moronic defenders. If Lampard dived then so must have Gerrard. The othersI can agree with. What’s Liverpool’s excuse?

British - part of the United Kingdom - Socrates is correct!! Many of us would happily wish success for any team from these islands in Europe when our own team is not playing.
Look’s like Bayern v Real final then, PSG won’t out-score Bayern again even at home
I hope you're right.(#MiaSanMia) And hopefully Gnabry and Goretzka are fully fit, and please Hansi, play Javi Martinez!
Let's not forget Chelsea are just a financially supped up everton. Chelsea are what everton are in Liverpool - not very successful.

Yes, I agree. Have this discussion everyday with one of the lads in the office
Foden is good at pretty much everything shoot, volley, dribble, twist turn, tackle, solid in the challenge, do step overs, back heels, slide rule passes, he's strong, stays on his feet, has great pace and energy with a never say die attitude, that's one dimension I'd look for in any player.
Chelski dreamers.

Embarrasing comment.
Foden's movement is second to none and he is explosive. Mason Mount is similar to Lampard easy on the eye. If you need to win a game you are better off with Foden than Mount

Both seem like "good" players but Foden is playing amongst outstanding teammates (like Sterling) for club & im not convinced Mount (whilst improving) stands out in the biggest games....so im still hoping to be convinced.

You'd have thought that playing at Anfield with those 'amazing' fans and it always meaning more that Pool would have won it far more than 6 times ??

who is the most successful English club over the last decade in the prem though? you cannot deny Chelsea have been successful and the most successful team, Liverpool rank 5th in that list of teams

Only funny thing I have seen this season has been Liverpool's dismal defence. James nailed on starter. TAA not good enough for San marino let alone England!
There is no way on Gods Warthe that a team as crap as Porto should be in the Champions League. It shows how rubbish the Spanish League is. Madrid should be the only Spanish club allowed in - and England’s club allowance should be at least 8 if you do it on quality. Championship clubs should be allowed to compete in the Europa. Ridiculous.
Don't EVER discount Chelsea. After the knives were drawn, they did what they're capable of doing to ANY team. They'll be a few, less critical opinions tonight.
good result tonight looks like madrid in semi unless

Chelsea played very well,a real threat in CL.But once again Chelsea and Man City will have the money myth thrown at them. When infact 17 Premier League Clubs have billionaire owners. Its just that those 2 clubs have upset what was considered to be the "natural order" of things.Liverpool and Man Utd out spent everyone else for years. But things have changed and they don't like it.
Liverpool and MU outspent everybody for years using the money their success deservedly brought them.
Neither side had the benefit of a kickstart, or decade(+) of massive cash input from an oligarch or a sheik.
Compare the records/trophy hauls of Chelsea and MC pre- and post- golden ticket, and draw your own conclusion.
BM also doing it the LFC/MU way.
Don’t see why anyone could take issue?

Both fantastic clubs but LFC were in Div 2 for 5 years when Chelsea were champions and MU were relegated in the 70s as were Chelsea when the then board overspent on ground development, then had to sell our stars (that had just won us the FA cup against a terrific Leeds side and the following year winning the Euro Cup Winners Cup against Real Madrid). A golden ticket? I call it destiny.
Littlewoods FC bought success same as.
The 'top clubs' have always had top spend - current exceptions being Leicester & West Ham, but those tend to be flash in the pan only when the moneyed clubs stuff up.

You are seriously applauding two teams who, through no skill whatsoever, were gifted an opportunity to spend billions, cheat FFP, create a ridiculous imbalance in wages compared with the real world, and basically ruin football as a sport.
Your conscience allows this simply because you happen to support one of them.

Bully for Chelsea...It would be a lark to see West Brom in the CL, they could run through some of those clubs apparently...2T has it all to do getting that lot to play together????
That’s right, I mean there’s no consistency or anything. It’s not like they’ve only lost 1 in 16, or had 13 clean sheets is it?

Nice to see a German coach and backed with load of Russian money doing well in Europe. Not sure about the shirts though some designs look cool an others best forgotten. A wins a win but far from convincing but a million miles better than loosing
And not forgetting that two of the star players have been at Chelsea since the age of 6! Chelsea are no worse than other clubs with their foreign money. In fact they're better as they have produced some fantastic youngsters recently - and not only for England. So there!
What a bizarre and bitter post, bit like the title of the poster
Solid performance and great ' away ' result and good way to bounce back from the calamity of WBA. If we want to win the PL/CL, I feel we are prob 3 players short...a commanding CB, another solid, defensively minded CM and a proven CF. With the wealth of attacking talent, a fresh start for the new signings and the emergence of Mount, next season could be very special
Yeah, but Liverpool are just so easy to beat this year. They play a high line with slow centre backs, and barely press. They may as well just part down the centre and let Courtois run all the way through.

Great performance from Chelsea last night.

So we have the mansour, glazers and abramovijchelski as favourites to progress to semi finals . All we need now is Fenway sports to reverse the deficit and then 4 foreign owned English clubs will be through . Love it
And your point is? Not sure you have noticed, but for whatever the rights and wrongs, we now live within a global economic environment. What does it matter if owners are foreign? Of course, there should be checks and measures to ensure owners are fit a proper. But being “Foreign”? Yeah, you are right of course as Mike Ashley is a great owner isn’t he?! Best of British and all that!!

Chelsea since Roman arrived - traded at a loss. Serious loss. By all accounts CFC over spent. Being a profitable business is not Chelsea. They've not made any profit at the club since 1998. That's the last year they made sensible profit.
Everything they make is just catch up money. They also have a financial burden of £+000's million wastage on Youth Players signed long term contracts & released.

It's not that other are owned by billionaires because most them don't pump the money that these two do. Liverpool spend the silly money the got for Suarez and Countinho and Utd earning their money through genuine commercial deals

The youth academy has actually been a great revenue source for the club as well as producing a nucleus of talent for the 1st team squad. The list of players sold on for good money far outweighs anyone ' released '. With eventual transfer fees and loan fees etc it makes ~ 30/40m a year

Werner missing once again, he needs to be dropped! Jorginho, why is he in the squad, don't tell me about that 8 yard pass that a kid could do, it was all about Mason's turn, although the Porto keeper should have done better. As should have the Chelsea attack, not created lots for few games now, too many stray long balls, against better sides it'll be 10 x harder. Need to step it up!
Good win for Chelsea tonight. Yeah, they had the easiest draw out of the three English teams, and they did get beaten 5-2 at home to an Allardyce-managed, 19th-placed West Brom...
But it was a good win nonetheless.

Crikey your posts are boring. Intentionally, yes. But why?
Liverpool lost by 7 to Villa
Man Utd lost 1-6 to Spurs
Man City lost 2-5 to Leicester
Does this make Liverpool, Utd & City bad teams ? No of course not.

Good win for Chelsea tonight. Yeah, they had the easiest draw out of the three English teams, and they did get beaten 5-2 at home to an Allardyce-managed, 19th-placed West Brom...
But it was a good win nonetheless.

Bayern lost to a team in 12th in Hoffenheim 4-1 and lost last season to 9th place Frankfurt 5-1, but still won the Treble. What's your point exactly?
As a Chelsea fan I don’t think we were great tonight tbh. It was a great result and we scored two very good goals, but if I was a Porto fan I’d be scratching my head how it was 2-0. We did defend well though and should go through now, but with the “home” leg at the same stadium, anything is possible. We’d have to play a lot better in the semi though if we do go though. Dreaming of a repeat of 2012!
Presume away goals won't count in this tie? Given both legs are taking place in the same stadium?
Oi! LFC. This is how you win, remember?
After Foden
No. He has class.
Congratulations on a decent away win for Chelsea which should see them into semis.
Only wish that Liverpool had drawn Porto since we beat them 5-0 and 4-1 on our recent visits in 2018 and 2019.

I expect Porto would have beaten Liverpool this year as they are poor indeed
Just imaging what west brom would have done to Porto! .... ??
I can't take that. I'm still laughing at big Sam's celebration after the third goal.

" West From was a blip"
Yes West From could be called a blip.
But West Brom certainly wasn't.
Chelsea were humiliated 5-2 at home by a team about to be relegated!
Embarrassing.
That's why most of the "passionate" Chelsea fans so happy to talk tonight went into hiding over the weekend.
It's what they do!
Let's hope Palace can "blip" you again on Saturday.
Thursday nights are comin!

Bore fest at its best...same rabble and corrupt teams competing for a competition that’s 20 years past it’s sell by date
I would prefer only the winners from each league and a two legged knock out with out seeding . That will never happen as its all about the money honey !!!! . TBF i only watch the highlights when its at the qf stage and maybe the semi final and final if it looks like its going to be a good game .
I think that Chelsea are playing a negative brand of football similar to Jose Tottenham .
