Quite right. Fantastic player who deserves it. If Gatland finds some way of leaving him out of the Lions squad then the whole tour should be cancelled.

Great news and recognition for an outstanding season.

Outplayed your opposite number in every game played and the try v Ireland summed up your commitment and refusal to take a backward step.

Here to a strong finish to the season with Edinburgh and pulling on the Red Lions shirt.

He did have an amazing tournament to be fair... but outplaying?!?

One thing bothers me, and that is the fact that he's a one trick pony. When he gets the ball there's usually only one thing in his mind, smash through as many people as I can... Which he did very well.

This will be horrendous v the Boks. I don't see much other than massive dog, guts and scrap (which I do like, don't get me wrong)

Has been a top performer for a number of years but quite under-rated until now. Hopefully that cements a Lions place for him.

I've always rated Hamish as he is one of those players you just don't want to play against. He's never beaten.

Two reasons why he won't make the 1st 15:
1 - Etzebeth and de Jager are the best 2nd rows in the world so we'll need a lineout option at the back = Tiperic.

2 - He can't pass.

What would your back row be and why?

Agree.. He was outstanding. Deserved winner and well played. As for lions. I just think he's too small for the lions v South Africa. We need a lot of bulk as South Africa will beast us in the forwards. Same reason I think Sam Simmonds will miss out. Just too small.

Dupont was average in this six nations. I don't think he deserved the nomination as there were better performing French players, Ollivant for example.

Watson deserves the accolade. If there was a newcomer award then LRZ would get that, to outpace Hogg and May shows he has serious wheels.

Dupont was average in this six nations. I don't think he deserved the nomination as there were better performing French players, Ollivant for example.

Watson deserves the accolade. If there was a newcomer award then LRZ would get that, to outpace Hogg and May shows he has serious wheels.

Thoroughly deserved. As a Welsh fan he has been my biggest concern in your team for the last few years.

Agree he is a certainty for the Lions tour. As for the first XV? With him, Tips and Curry there’s going to be two very talented players not in the team. Too close to call.

Who else do Scottish fans think should be on the plane? Great team this year but not many caught the eye individually.

Hamish always punches above his size.
WG's got a tough job selecting his loose forwards from such a talented bunch available to beat the big beast of SA, especially up front. IMO Hamish has only one deficiency against his rivals which unfortunately he can do nothing about.

He's not the biggest but that doesn't stop him wriggling through tackles. The bigger guys tend to try to go through opponents where Hamish wriggles and weasels his way through and he's a hard man to put down. The fact he can go for the 80 minutes time and time again is another big plus mark for him.
