Councils filling potholes 'every 19 seconds'
31/03/2021 | news | politics | 1,140
The number of repairs has increased to 1.7 million in England and Wales in the past year, a survey says.
The roads in the South East are an absolute disgrace.

Road users pay £44 billion in direct taxation yet only £11 billion is spend (and most of that goes on deadly 'smart' motorways.

All very well encouraging 10 million to come here since 2003 but with zero new infrastructure it was always going to be a shambles.

Fix em at night too not during rush hour!

To be fair, non-road users also contribute to the £11 billion. Much of the £44 billion is Vehicle Excise Duty based on the amount of pollution from the vehicle. There is no direct correlation.
Was all those potholes caused by Brexit.
Surely their must have been an EU regulation somewhere among all the regulations that demanded councils maintain the highways to a particular standard.
We are out so maybe they no longer have to comply. ??????

The quality of the repair is so poor, after one heavy downpour, its potholes again; no pride in workmanship, just cheap labour, doing jobs on the cheap, absolutely no civic pride, why would a migrant low paid worker be interested in the quality of products being used on the road, his investment is not in uk where he is to earn a living in the competitive market of private enterprise, minimum wage
"The UK has no problem with racism"

Please p155 off with this xenophobic garbage.

My council appears to have limitless funds for it’s woke agenda and propaganda newspaper shovelled through the door at regular intervals but not for doing anything useful that the majority of rate payers might actually want.

The only time Labour have got elected in recent decades was when they nicked the Tories'clothes and called themselves 'New Labour'.

They revert to Old Labour and get clobbered by Boris's Tories !!

It's the BBC's job to report the news, not generate it. Look to the gutter press for manufactured news.
