A Dutch tug leading to a happy ending, great.

Haha, nice one!
Matron !
Nothing like good 'old fashioned' hard work!
Sassi gave credit to Egypt. Odd
I once had a Dutch tug and that led to a happy ending.
Not only a dutch tug .. A GOOD Cooperation with others made this possible . Not only a dutch tug .. Cooperation with others made this possible .
Ah, English humour, priceless!
Cloggies have to be good at SOMETHING....
Ladies and Gents, we have today's winner of the internet!!

Why are the loons not blaming Boris or Brexit for this, they blame everything else on Boris or Brexit.
Removed
Surely such a major disruption to global trade due to this cock up in Egypt gives the SNP grounds to demand indyref 2.

Are they using container ships Or SCOTTISH dinghies?
Sturgeon can’t remember whether or not she was driving the ship at the time but to the best of her recollection, a big boy did it and ran away

anything to take the heat off eu's dismal response to their covid vaccine rollout.

Yes! Send Boris, the proven liar, cheat, chancer and his troupe of thugs the replay the '56 drubbing?
Was it the Dutch who man handled the ship in the first place, taking the eu's covid vaccine shambles off the front page.
Much more important bbc, what is the eu doing about covid 19 rampaging all over lalaland? Removed

UNBELIEVABLY STUPID to turn a giant container ship in a SINGLE LANE canal??????. The captain needs to be disciplined, sacked and retrained. The company needs to pay for all costs involved. IMAGINE if this was ?? ?? ship???????First things first.

Funny how the German health system never seems to make it to the BBC headlines any more.
Seems to have been ignored since the EU vaccination disaster took hold!
Brussels will need more than a sorted Suez to rid itself of the economic damage caused by its bureaucratic incompetence. Removed

The 'Dutch Tug' thread has been deleted by the Mods? They've no sense of humour either then

I see Suez canal and poor tortoise make news but not Johnsons 4 year affair and £126000 if taxpayers money makes news. Lucky you have a Tory donor running BBC and offcom by ex daily mail editor. Nothing to see here.

"The cost of shipping goods to Europe is expected to rise as a result."
Phew! I was afraid that those responsible for not being able to steer their own ship properly might have to pick up the cost.

I think those who have replied to this post are missing the point: surely Travellor was specifically referring to the Jack Shepherd case - the speedboat crash on the Thames, when Shepherd's defence was that he let his girlfriend have a go, and that she was driving at the time. She was killed, and he was convicted, and - after fleeing the authorities - eventually caught and jailed.
The best modelling is that the flawed 'indulgence' of population confinement in the west WILL result in an extra 400,000,000 premature deaths in the majority world.
But. Hey!? Your 87 year old Gran. Who would have likely died within 12 months anyway.- she is worth it. Removed

What does this have to do with the story attached to this HYS?
30 yrs ago, 20 of us heavily drinking kids leased a 52 foot sailing yacht for a day (Gulf of Mexico) and promptly ran it aground on a sandbar. Too impatient to wait for the tide, we all got off the yacht (less weight, it rose up out of the water) into the water and pushed it the rest of the way off the sandbar. Why didn't experienced merchant mariners start to offload this ship immediately?
BBC: “Strength of defence against new wave unclear, says PM”
And there it is, out of all the positivity the BBC latches on to the negative, to keep the loop of doom rolling. Removed

Stammer has said that under Labour, the ship would have been moved much faster, and that he said this would happen only two weeks ago.
We are feeding the beast by buying more chinese tat.Buy British and if not possible buy less from them .Biden threatening us with trade tariffs and EU doing what they do.There is no special relationship and we need to put ourselves first.Spend your money on a staycation.
I’m on the ship also and this guy is imposter.

What, you failed to notice the kwitters trying to claim everything that happens to go right, however unrelated to brexit it is as being a brexit bonus, while claiming all the negative things which have very definitely been caused by Brexit have nothing to do with it?
Get used to having the blame for the damage you caused hung round your neck kwitter, we have only just begun to fight for rejoin.

Any chance you could spell properly? You obviously are a typical arrogant Englishman. NORTHERN Ireland is an integral part of the UK and will stay that way. Would you want to get rid of Wales and Scotland too?

Thank goodness for stories like this to keep us amused and deflected..
Why no story about the PM’s affair and tax payers money given to his mistress?...I’m sure someone will come up with some kind of double entendre that will be very funny. As for me I’m just wondering when our corrupt government lead by a man with no morals or integrity in office or personal life will be brought to account? Removed

while goods being transported through the suez will undoubtably be insured so the owners and operators will not loose out, we the public will end up paying more due to shortages and limited availability and the extra transport costs due to this grounding. Is this fair trade?
What a ridiculous statement. What has this situation got to do with Boris? Evergreen or their insurers will be paying hefty compensation to the Suez Canal company for the cost of the delays this ship has caused. If you have ever been through this canal. which I doubt, you would know how it works. This ship will go nowhere until this compensation is paid and it will run into millions of US$.
Lucky Europeans including Brits, as I heard if the ship was not removed quicker enough, brits would run out of such as toilet rolls again..........
Calm it snow flake.
"A Dutch specialist team, SMIT, oversaw a flotilla of 13 tugs, small but powerful vessels that can shift large ships, as they tried to dislodge the Ever Given." Seriously, what level of readership are you pitching this to? Five-year-olds? Newsbeat readers?

It's time we took action to protect our interests by bringing manufatcuring back to the UK and becoming less dependent on imports from the Far East. We should also adopt a more vigourous policy of ethical trading and reduce trade with China when they are so clearly abusing human rights.
Couldn't agree more, lefty!!! But to make this viable we will have to scrap all the silly employment and elfnsafety lays that make UK companies uncompetitive as well as cutting wages to bring them in line with those paid in Asian economies!!!
i.e., in order to become competitive we will have to end socialism!! Can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned!! Removed

It is becoming more and more apparent that we cannot leave so vital a trade artery in the hands of so unstable a regime as that in Egypt!!!
It is my belief that the Suez Canal must now become an international zone managed by the West with NATO taking responsibility for its security!! And this is a view shared by most serious and respected security experts!!

According to the Brexits the ships travelling south through the Suez canal are empty, they only bring stuff from China.
Brexits have forgotten that Europe actually export some stuff, which is quite sad really.

So initially this was thought to be due to wind however it is now clear that this was a major systems failure.
It is my understanding that the ship (like all these vessels) is essentially "fly-by-wire". Though this appears to be much worse and not only it is completely computer controlled, once the computers have crashed it is completely uncontrolled.
Stupid or what?

Err, if you read all the information the investigation is looking at human and technical failures. I am well aware that aircraft have multiple systems to mitigate issues should there be a failure. What the accelerator and ABS do on your car is not the same as steering, particularly if you are reliant on GPS input into a navigation system to provide the steering.
