'West Ham mixing it with top teams'
05/04/2021 | sport | football | 939
Jesse Lingard scores a brilliant solo goal before West Ham hold off a Wolves fightback to secure a victory that moves them into the Premier League top four.
Amazing to think that of the so-called big 6, Man City, Spurs & Arsenal have never been Champions of Europe yet West Ham have!...first British winners in fact when they beat Benfica in 1967 in Portugal with an Alan Devonshire goal.
Hence the famous “Brooking’s Lisbon Lion Babes”

They had a decent manager in Jock Stein.

Ronnie Simpson, Jim Craig, Tommy Gemmell, Bobby Murdoch,
Billy McNeill, (captain), John Clark, Jimmy Johnstone, Willie Wallace,
Stevie Chalmers, Bertie Auld, Bobby Lennox,
You do have to wonder what the point of Wolves is - the self-styled “big club” with very few fans (pre-pandemic) and over 100+ years in existence and never won a trophy.
Hardly the pride of East Midlands!
