Mo may not have effected much damage in terms of wickets but he did help contain Indians successfully. But Kohli's more to blame though. Indians practically shot themselves in the foot by having two low on confidence batsmen together who batted like it was a test match leaving too few deliveries for more attacking batsmen. They played to prove themselves and come back to form rather than to win.

"on form is there a more destructive top 3 in world cricket?"

On a dead wicket, more accurately.

Come on. Bairstow struggled to last 2 balls in tests, and that too against an average Indian attack. I can guarantee you he is not any better today than he was 2 weeks ago. But the wicket is dead and he swiped his bat and got lucky

Stokes is not a bad player however

I see you know nothing about cricket, but feel obliged to comment. Your "It was a match between two below average teams" - not seen the rankings? Now "honest slogger , no . . .technique" - doesn't realise that the short form versions of cricket (certainly to chase a big total), require a degree of slogging, NOR that successful 'slogging' actually needs its own technique. Try water polo maybe?

Hmm, I get your point, but have to disagree, they are both very impressive teams. However, England and India do deserve their place at the top, they have consistently won series's over a long period of time, you could easily say the same thing about Australia and New Zealand if you put them away from home. I wouldn't say there's much of a difference tho between England, India and New Zealand.

Disagree about Kohli and India tactics. He can score at run a ball in his sleep, on a decent pitch like that. England would take him scoring 66 at that rate any day. But it is clear that 340 may not be enough v England. India should be attacking the power play more, maybe promote a hitter to do so or just bat more positively in first 20. Don’t leave Hardik with only 5 overs to bat.

Buttler is not a good enough wicket keeper, 2 easy chances dropped today could have been costly. And he doesn't move his feet when he bats, in the two ODI's he has only had to nudge the ball about, but he doesn't seem able to do that. He is not performing and should not be an automatic choice.

It's the same for the England rugby team. It's when the armchair experts come out in their majorities and think they know better than the International coaches... The mentality of wanting to drop players after a bad game or two is laughable.

Buttler isn't the best keeper, and I believe the selectors factor in his batting when selecting him. As such, his below standard keeping is not offset by his batting. His drop off Kohli fortunately only cost 28 runs, but could have been very costly.

Buttler as a replacement for Morgan?

Difficult to say so far but too much like Root who is a mix of rabbit in the headlights (less now) and clueless about plan B

Buttler is experience enough but a drop and duck are the kind of mistakes you can't afford if the captaincy is a burden to you

All that talk surrounding team selection makes no sense now, does it? Some much chatter on the comments the other day after England's loss. There is no real analysis to limited-overs cricket in today's style of play. Whichever team is more mindless in their hitting, wins. More so in T20s. Rarely does good bowling win you LOI matches.

Comments on live feed about droppping Buttler are farcial. Yes he's made 5 single figure scores in a row. Since 2015 World Cup (and before this series) he averaged 45 at strike rate of 123. No one else in world cricket came close to matching that sort of combination of average and strike rate. And we 're gonna what, drop him becuase he's in in a minor rut? The mind boggles.

On a dead wicket, more accurately.

It's always a pleasure to see India take a thrashing in their own backyard. Kohli will need to answer for his strike rate.

At least Kohli doesnt claim grounded catches like Stokes and Malan.

ENGLAND were too good today and INDIA had no answer. All credit goes to STOKES BAIRSTOW & JASON ROY. If openers can go to almost 7 runs an over in first 10 overs that shows a good omen, and then STOKES and BAIRSTOW's sixers can give this kind of result with so many balls to spare. INDIA must learn to attack fast without losing the wickets. WELL PLAYED ENGLAND. INDIA mast target 10 runs/in first10

Didn’t India win the 1st ODI, playing the same way as today?

You really don’t have to capitalise the whole word. Just first letter is enough ??

But yes India need to learn and Learn quick
Shouldn’t have played Kuldeep today
Defo needs to be dropped and Dhawan

Earlier this week this forum was awash with England obituaries. Maybe now we can have some more balanced views. And when the usual trolls weigh in, please just dismiss them with a single comment- then ignore them for good.

Ringmaster Kohli performing well again with the bat and his squad knocked up a fair total.

The Lions of England Roared again despite a little blip steadied the ship to the end.

YJB and Roy set the foundation with Stokes doing some vital damage too.

Livingston dropped in well too.

Good day at the Office then.

Very good day, Duncan.
After posting that total, I thought India would win it again.
But the Lions did indeed roar back.

I think if England bat first on Sunday they’ll need 400 to have a good chance of winning the series?

Ask yourself... if it had been Kohli instead of Stokes, would it have been out?

India's batting with Kohli, Pant and Rahul? Amazing
Bowling? DISASTER!! How do you have a good start with the new ball to then allow yourself to get smashed all over the park? Roy played well, Stokes and Bairstow were EXCELLENT, but this is ridiculous. 337 chased down with over 6 overs to spare? England could have made 400+ with disasterous bowling like that from India!!

Okay, but I'm saying Rahul, Kohli, and Pant were let down by bowling so bad that if England batted first, they would have scored anywhere between 390-420!

Amazing, two days ago the comments on here were all about how Bairstow was passed it - Stokes was hopeless, England were the worse team in the world - and yet just as I predicted - one great win and suddenly it's the total opposite...Just proves good teams do not become bad teams overnight...it's a game - teams will lose but they can also win.

It's the quality of the journalism that is far worse than the quality of the sides competing against each other.
