Very impressed by southampton always put out their strongest team in the fa cup eventhough they struggle in the league a bit, always nice to see still some clubs respect this famous trophy!!!
Yes, except that one time Puel surrendered the FA cup by practically putting out a B-side against Arsenal, was livid with that one!
Good to see a rare win! Good luck to Bournemouth for rest of the season. Just glad we did not let them win this one after Cook's nonsense comments a few weeks back about Bournemouth owing Southampton a beating after practically relegating them last season'! I think the Cherries probably got relegated for being poor for most the year, not that one game the Saints outplayed them anyway
Would very much like to see Southampton win the FA cup - from LFC
It would certainly get them to their goal of European Football (even if their league form lets them down)
Well you would wouldn't you LFC
Well OF COURSE you would. I'm surprised you just didn't say 'any team except Manchester United. I wonder why I'm prompted to think that.
well done southampton-whose manager lives on the coast to avoid the inland revenue
Nice to see Southampton play well, and still put out their best squad. Normally, that might be a problem in the PL due to fixtures, but the two week break helps them. I'd say it again, but it won't happen, but please kick on and ensure Survival, Southampton! If you don't, then you'd be incredibly lucky to survive. Please don't get too careless as you are doing well in FA Cup, and 7 points safe!
Great win for Southampton in the Hampshire derby!
The Saints just 1 step away from their first ever FA Cup final. Good luck to them.
The Saints just 1 step away from their first ever FA Cup final. Good luck to them.
Err, actually they won the FA up in 1976 beating Man Utd
You’re showing your age - Bournemouth is now in Dorset.
Not a derby. Bompey are in Dorset. Saints have won the FA cup and been in the final and lost
If Southampton win their semi-final, this FA Cup final will be Southampton’s fifth.
Keep up!
Keep up!
Congratulations, not easy to get so much wrong in so few words, well done!
First ever Cup Final?
What??? Bournemouth are in Dorset
It wouldn't be Saints first final ??
It wouldn't be Saints first final ??
Southampton have been in the final 4 times and won it in 1976
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn! ??
Hassenhuttl was there to bring Southampton to mid-table or European contention, not potential relegation fodder.
Well done saints. The best team won. Bournemouth were dreadful, by all accounts.
...or just made to look awful perhaps?
With Norwich and Watford doing so well in the Championship this season, and now this result - there must be a huge gap in quality now between the top two divisions.
There is. West Brom and Fulham provide further evidence.
Great win for Southampton in the Hampshire derby!

No that was Ipswich in 1976 beating Arsenal 3-2 in FA Cup Final. Think Alan Sunderland scored the winner in injury time.
Southampton were in the League Cup final in ‘76 losing 1-0 to Man Utd with a Bobby Stokes own goal. Think that would explain your confusion.

Thanks Saints. We can all enjoy the rest of the weekend with a smile on our faces for the first time in what seems an eternity. If only Redmond could play like he has today every week the fans wouldn’t give him such a hard time. He has got it in locker but he doesn’t perform week in week out.
Hope we can keep this up against Burnley and get another 3 points on the board in the PL.
well played SFC

well played SFC
Yeah .. if only Redmond could play against relegated teams every week .. they'd be masters of the universe .. what a revelation
He could if he played in the championship where he belongs
Maybe if so much negative stuff wasn't directed his way by a small but very vociferous group of so-called fans, he would perform at his prime more often in his preferred role.

O.K., I meant Southampton won the Dorset derby.
Why was Bednerak not sent off for his first half challenge. No attempt to take the ball, it was a deliberate and clinical kick on the leg - very unpleasant
Probably the same reason why Whiltshire wasn’t sent off ???????
VAR didn’t think so but still chalked off 2 Saints goals
VAR didn’t think so but still managed to chalk off 2 Saints goals so I’d call that quits wouldn’t you

West Brom? Yes. Fulham are a good side attacking, but need to work on defending, AGAIN!!

No more reactions to an obvious Skate wind-up, PLEASE!

Oh dear.
Southampton is in Hampshire and it’s not a derby . You must be a WUM
Oh dear no, Southampton are from Hampshire get it right??
Great win for Southampton; Bournemouth just weren't at the races today. Here's my predictions for the semi final line up:
Southampton v Man City
Leicester v Everton
Southampton v Man City
Leicester v Everton
Here again abm? You've hit a new low with that forecast, anyone who can read would know that Everton were due to play Man City in the quarters today. It's obvious BOTH teams couldn't progress to the semis, but City did the necessary to go through.

Made I Larf, Nan.
Nice little club Southampton. Don’t win very much although I think they’ve won more than Tottenham Spuds ?? recently ?? Hope they avoid a big club in the semi finals and reach their first FA cup final ????
go and check out Bobby Stokes duh
Correction - 5th FA Cup Final.
Won't be their first??
Would be good to reach a final again, don't forget Saints won it in 76 and got to the semi finals a couple of years ago too.
You are most likely too young to remember Saints FA Cup win vs Man Utd. Saints have reached the FA Cup Finals since then!
They have won it before, but in the day and I think been in a couple (?) of Cup finals.
4 FA cup finals previously Navjot !
O.K., I meant Southampton won the Dorset derby.

How did Bournemouth ever get into the PL. They made Southampton look like a top side
Err, actually they won the FA up in 1976 beating Man Utd
I hope you got some free Papa Johns pizza from losing that cup final a couple of days ago?
You seem to be somewhat confused about Southampton's FA Cup final win. Being a Manchester United fan I remember only too well, and with great disappointment, that Bobby Stokes scored the goal to beat United and take the cup home to The Dell.
United had been far and away the favourites so the bookies must have lost a mint.

From a neutral - well done Saints! Boremouth well and truly sorted out this afternoon. You're still the best (and biggest) club on our South coast.
O.K., I meant Southampton won the Dorset derby.
Well done saints. The best team won. Bournemouth were dreadful, by all accounts.
Well that was so easy

Would love to see Cook come out and say something now. We showed . Premiership class against Championship class. They had important players out, so did we. That was why they got relegated
Congrats Southampton!
Bournemouth need a few signings to get back into the prem, short on a bit of quality.

Say that again! Why do you think Boringmouth ever got relegated - that said Saints could only beat what was put in front of them to be fair
There is. West Brom and Fulham provide further evidence.
Delighted with Saints' performance - played some fantastic, confident football.
Hoping that was Bournemouth's last defeat of the season.

It would certainly get them to their goal of European Football (even if their league form lets them down)
It wont be the Saints first ever FA cup final, I've got a photo of me and Lawrie McMenamy standing with it when they won it in '76.
I have a photo of me and Lawrie McMenamy and a Bigfoot all sitting on the back of the Loch Ness Monster holding the FA Cup in 1976.
Beat that!
Beat that!

now lets see them do the same to Everton in the semis, nice.
O.K., I meant Southampton won the Dorset derby.
Could be a repeat of Southampton vs Manchester United. Cup Final. Now that would be nice.
As with 1976, they'd certainly start as massive massive underdogs. As I recall, most of the post-match reports began with, "No-one gave them a chance, but......." Southampton 1 Manchester United 0 (that would indeed be nice).
I'd happily take that, but wouldn't it just be Sod's law that (my) United would lose 9-0?
Where has that Redmond been all season?
Nice to see him back!
Having spoken to some b'mouth fans they seem to be suffering from the same problems we have in the league of not having the delivery or finishing in the final third.
Strangely we took are chances today.
Up the Saints, hopefully see b'mouth back up for the banter soon...

Showing he is championship quality
Both quality finishes for the "no goals" also
Steady on - it's Boremouth who are the Wigan of the south!
No, because man City will, and no because there are at least five worse teams in the Premiership.
Congrats Southampton!

Shoulder to shoulder, although he was so badly hurt he only managed to roll over eight times to get back on the pitch!
That Djenepo has a job in radio plays when he retires doing the high-pitched squealing.
Kelly and Lerma might have made more a game of it today if available, such a shame it took BT 84 minutes to admit we had 5 players missing through injury and one suspended.

Redmond was unlucky not to get a hat trick, and had a great game. Always impressed by Ward-Prowse's effort and consistent performances. Walker-Peters is looking like a decent player again too! Let's hope Liverpool don't come knocking for him!
Bournemouth were outplayed, and fortunate to have the other 2 excellent goals chalked off?
I'd been wondering where Jack Wheelchair had got to?

Redmond always plays far better when we quickly move the ball forward.
Putting him in a team who put their foot on the ball, then pass sideways, or backwards, is a total waste of time and his talent.
He thrives on direct football.
We need to play this way for the remainder of the season.

So give him Argentinian Football. It's very direct, even if quality of finishing is DIRE!!

okay. Makes sense, but don't know if owners really care about that. Some owners(Abramovich) was notoriously known for his quick trigger in sacking managers regardless of money, or injuries. Your owner is clearly sensible, so I see why your team struggled when injured. Still, European hopes are there for now via FA Cup, but be careful with the League as you don't want to become Wigan(good god!)
These smaller clubs again provide an entertaining game ??????

Safe money would probably be on Man City winning the FA Cup, but I’m really hoping that it’ll be Southampton, Everton or Leicester that claim the famous old trophy in May.
Saints winning only their second FA Cup would be great, otherwise Leicester would be good, as they have never won the cup and have the highest number of times as runners up without ever winning (four).
I hope it's the teams you mentioned, though I have NO PROBLEM with Man United winning the FA Cup, as it keeps the ABU's quiet about Solskjaer!! I haven't heard a more obnoxious group than ABMU's or fans making fun of Solskjaer this season with Man United. Having said that, I prefer one of Southampton, Everton or Leicester winning the FA Cup, but have no problem with Man United doing so as well.

What a strange stat:
"Only second time in 18 seasons. Last time was 2017/18"
So in other words the second time in 3 years.
Is your statsman a Pompey fan???

They got to the final 19 seasons ago...is that what you don't understand? It seems self explanatory!

Reminiscent of when Joe Royals Dogs of war beat Man U in 95 to win FA cup having been so very close to going down !
They’ll have one of Man City (we don’t have a prayer today!), Chelsea, Man Utd or Leicester in the semi so good luck with that one! I picked Leicester at start of the season, so sticking with them. Otherwise the same old same old team to win it. Yawn.
You mean Arsenal . . . oh!

So did the Blades last year . Big financial gap which United couldn’t bridge after years in L1 and Championship. Leeds may struggle next season as clubs with more financial muscle and accumulated cash strengthen bigger squads. Can’t see Norwich or Watford competing other than for bottom 3 places.
Safe money would probably be on Man City winning the FA Cup, but I’m really hoping that it’ll be Southampton, Everton or Leicester that claim the famous old trophy in May.
No offense, but the last thing England needs is Manchester City romping with the League Cup and FA Cup, as they hardly ever lose, and it just gets boring and hopeless for the rest of the league full stop!!!!!
Much rather Saints v Leicester, too much silverware up there already.
Yes it would. But as a long term United fan I'd be very apprehensive as I can't see Pep Guardiola allowing himself to be outhtought by Ole again.
These smaller clubs again provide an entertaining game ??????
"Hasenhuttl, who is aiming to become the second manager to lead the Saints to the FA Cup after Lawrie McMenemy in 1976." Or even the fourth, after Ernest Arnfield (1902, 1904), Lawrie McMenemy (1976) and Gordon Strachan (2003).

can someone explain how did he get the managers job ?, incredible or was it because of his wonderful work at middlesborough
He’s got “dirty” pictures.
