The England badge next to each English player, being possibly selected for the England team, does seem a little superfluous. Maybe a club badge might have been more useful.

The time that poland is considered a test is the time that you can no longer consider yourself a top team.

But then look at that lineup, not one player from there would get into a top team.

Struggles with playing out from the back (has resulted in at least 2 goals like that this season), is quite slow and "defends" by manhandling players which he gets away with.

So yeah I do think there are stronger CBs than him and I think plenty have developed their game better since he became the poster boy for English defence. But they aren't priced at 80mil so won't get a look in.

Maguire and Pope struggle with ball control and a danger is if they try to pass to each other beginning a move ‘to bring out from the back’

It’s not a huge problem as Pope should have 2 or 3 other players available to pass to. And Maguire should have Shaw on his left and Stones on his right - both competent ball players.

You've got the makings of a great team and potential cup winners if they all keep free of injury! Rice and Lingard will link up as well as they do at West ham, and you've got some 'youthful experience' in Foden as well as experience up front with Kane and Sterling! Definitely Pope for GK - I think Pickford is lacking form and is not a safe pair of hands at the moment. Back four solid

Technically Southgate isn't doing anything wrong - his tactics are just boring but he does set-up the team in a way they are difficult to beat hence why they are sitting 4th in the Rankings (the stats don't lie). Picking a team based on who is on form in the league is a bit silly. Specially when you play so few international games, its more about continuity. Otherwise you just end up with this week's best Premier League XI. And if you think I'm wrong look at other nations, the ones that usually do better than England.

Picking a team based on who is on form in the league is a bit silly. Specially when you play so few international games, its more about continuity. Otherwise you just end up with this week's best Premier League XI. And if you think I'm wrong look at other nations, the ones that usually do better than England.

This is correct. It is one of the reasons why picking Jesse Lingard makes no sense. I cannot understand how the majority of people who responded to that article thought that Jesse deserves to start for England.

A real gem of a comment there mate! But really, I don't think they have fabricated it, I think some people have just gone with those players. Sadly, I really want Maguire to mess up in a big way, he needs to show his true colours by taking out the goalie on a setpiece or passing straight to an opposition striker. Otherwise Southgate will stick with him and it will be a lot worse down the line.

The last two games have just proven that England won't get anywhere unless they build the team around Grealish, Madison, and Alexander-Arnold. As good as Walker is - we need TAA's creativity from the right. Technically Southgate isn't doing anything wrong - his tactics are just boring but he does set-up the team in a way they are difficult to beat hence why they are sitting 4th in the Rankings (the stats don't lie). At what point would this summers Euro's be a success or a failure for Southgate to warrant getting sacked (quarters, semi's, final)?
