Senior figures tell the BBC Boris Johnson should have been tougher in the autumn to prevent more deaths.
Eat out was a crazy idea but what do you expect from the clown Boris
just shows how gullible the general electorate are, to believe the lies and mistruths from this serial liar
Shows how bad labour is !
We are believing polls this week then?
Do you think only people with UK votes have freedom of speech? What;s the next step, Hong Kong, Myanmar?
Come the election we'll see. Another two months of Boris blundering will see him well down the polls.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
In works in.your head, so it must be right

Yes
I would vote for a cat rather than any of this so called Government who I am proud not to have voted for. I have never voted Labour but I have never been more likely to than now. Political parties are not football teams, you can change your mind.
Lovely - such concern.
Here is a poll. see how many Ya's and Na's Bo jo's got
Sadly that says more about Labour than it does about Boris . . .
who are labour?
wait and see if he makes next election needs to earn more money than job pays for his lifestyle covid contracts will help
What has poll ratings got to do with death rates? His bad decisions have cost lives, surely that is more important!
Maybe trouncing Labour in Scotland where I live but not the SNP. Lets face it a dead parrot could trounce Labour these days.
Trancing Labour?
Is this some kind of rave music, or maybe snake charming?

Clown should apply to people who vote for him. Vaccine bounce won't last forever.

That's neither here nor there for the purpose of the OP's comment. EOTHO had nothing to do with Labour. I would love to see Keir Starmer in a trance though.
And don't you worry for the future when the clown presides over 125000 plus avoidable deaths and a multi-billion pound fiasco
trancing???
Just shows how sad the British electorate is at the moment. Vote for a jolly buffoon then still back him when he cocks everything up.
Hardly surprising this Government acts as it does. For them profits always are of greater importance than the lives of ordinary people !
I appreciate your reasoned argument.
Given that we've a higher death rate than Germany and have budgeted 1000 times as much as them for test, track and trace it would seem pretty clear that he's not the idiot.

Why has the UK, with the most stringent of LD's ended up with almost the worst death rate.
Last March we literally shut people into often crowded living quarters, when many would have already been infected, and did the same in January.
Given that most transmissions happen in the home, could it be as simple as that.
It would explain why countries & states that didn't LD, have done better.

I think this needs to be left to a public inquiry. There needs to be an explanation why the UK has got one of the highest death rates per 100k population of all the countries in the world according to the WHO data.

When Boris started talking about opening up for four days over Xmas, I couldn't believe it. Seemed utter madness.
We were too slow going into the first lock down, too slow going in to the second, and then he talked about effectively forgetting the whole thing over Xmas?
Thank goodness he finally saw sense at the last minute, albeit after half the population had spent money preparing for it!

Irrespective of whether Tory, Labour, LibDem, Green etc supporter, all have a voice. The PM is damned any which way. The PM takes counsel from epidemiologists and other professionals in this field and makes a judgement call; the PM will get it wrong sometimes and be vilified, he is human and may make errors of judgement, a thankless task especially when we grieve for those lost.

Fortunately (because poor discipline is endemic in the UK) our vaccine rollout is going brilliantly and vaccinated people are not catching Covid and landing in hospital. The vaccines work. So luckily we will see an end to the pandemic here, despite some folk seemingly longing for us to be locked down for ever! In Europe they seem to be in self destruct mode!!
Johnson has made cock-ups since this time last year - but his ministers aren't off the hook. Scroll back and listen to the bull from all of them - notably "eat out to help out" and "Lets get london moving again (minister for London - joke).
Still, this all pales when faced with a 4th wave which will come, and another enforced lockdown come November.

Whatever you are it's clear that you're programmed to relentlessly peddle right-wing drivel devoid of all truth

It doesn't really matter what Lefty Kuenssberg thinks.
It doesn't matter what these Ministers and Senior officials think (even if they exist at all)
What matters is the Great British voting public.
Judging by the opinion polls they think Boris is doing a wonderful job with the virus.

To the contrary .... I want everyone to see your stupid posts.
Close though .... you had a coin toss between two choices and lost.

Mistakes have been made - everywhere. Look at the EU - now banning vaccines for political reasons. They have Azn vaccine sitting in warehouses whikst their populations enter a third phase. Mad. Look at America - half their population and leaders are more concerned about their rights than their health, whilst the sexual predator in New York refuses to resign.

Best PM since Thatcher!!! If labour had been in power the death toll would have been in the millions and our economic prospects would be zero!!!

I'm saying Boris is way ahead in every opinion poll - for months now!
Google 'Latest Opinion Polls' then click on 'Mark Pack' !
It's votes that count- NOT 'Melly The Pink' !!!

When Boris puts a white lab coat on he looks more like an ice cream man than scientist.
Sir Keir has just had his vaccination....the nurse asked him if he felt a little prick.

Hilarious, you did yourself proud, there. And no spelling mistakes, well done!

Ministers frustrated with Boris, maybe a little, but all support him, unless one is looking to put his coat on after the most difficult of times.
Find BBC coverage of any Boris story loaded, the emotive photos used the article headline words used, all frankly making me more and more anti BBC, we all pay for BBC yet BBC continue to bite the hand that feeds it.

Johnson is a total lightweight. Before PM he failed at Foreign Secretary and was mediocre at best as London Mayor. Dismissed twice for lying which he is noted for. Great CV for being PM
Now the Clown is receiving the criticism he deserves. All Tory PMs have knives in their back as they slide out of power, it’s starting to happen to the Clown

You only have to look at his knee jerk reaction to try & make the streets safer for women, to realise that Boris is totally unfit for public office!
His first concern was that the TV coverage of the vigil was making him look bad & he might have to fire the "Pritster" for fouling up again, so he comes up with a few sensationalist ideas, most of which will take years to implement! ??

Had labour been in power death toll.. would have stood at approx 1.2 million...devastation caused by their economic fiscal policies would have caused a 90% reduction in our GDP.
These are FACTS
-
BS
Only an idiot thinks a "hypothetical future" is a FACT
The model overestimated "do nothing" Deaths at only 0.5M
Biggest hit to GDP since Great Frost of 1709 (was Queen Anne Labour ?)

It's a difficult balancing act involving life and death . Thousands of honest hard-working people have lost their jobs with more likely and many have been isolated for months.
Not a supporter of this government and the pre Christmas relaxation was probably foolhardy but they have an impossible job ,at least with the vaccination effort there is some hope of a safer return to some kind of normal.

"Ministers and officials had already been meeting to discuss the virus in China - but it felt thousands of miles away. There was a "lack of concern and energy," one source tells me. "The general view was it is just hysteria. It was just like a flu.""
Which just goes to show you how unprepared and unconcerned this bunch were - when it got to Italy they were messing their pants.

Millions are alive today thanks to the PM's cool, calm and collected handling of this pandemic!!!
He has been an inspiration to his colleagues, those beneath him and to the population at large!!!
Compare his mastery of the situation to the hysteria and panic sweeping over the Continent at the moment!!!
Thank God you're British and thank God for the tories!!!

This is just old news raked over to distract from the cancelled trial of Claudia Webbe, Mike Hill quitting, the resignation of Patrick Grady and the GFG lochaber scandal. Give us some real news Laura not just Boris bashing. the Cabinet must be really scarred that they have another unassailable asset at the ballot box like Thatcher. They will never get a look in.

The BBC continues to undermine the Tory gov, this time by lazy “journalism” from Kuenssberg. Quoting “off the record” comments, allegedly made by 20 senior politicians, is this her “Deep Throat” (Watergate) moment, suppose we’ll have to wait for her follow up investigations. Shan’t hold me breath though.
You’re the first to mention the polls when captain hindsight took a slight lead not so long ago!!??
So you’re blaming the Tories for the death of your mother-in-law, grow up, should every leader of every country get the blame for people that have past due a a virus that come from China??? ??

Where's the independent inquiry into the inherent Islamaphobia in the Tory party, promised by all candidates before their last leadership contest?
Why do the EHRC refuse to look into the Tory party, after it was recently stuffed full of party stooges?
There's a minority of vile racists in all walks of life, yet one party refuses to investigate their own, why is this, do they actually condone it?

You'll have trouble for two reasons:
1) You don't believe he can lie.
2) The 400 character limit of these posts is woefully inadequate for such a list.

If there is one lesson to be taken from the pandemic it is that the NHS is totally unfit for purpose and this unaffordable socialist institution needs to be shut down and replaced with a modern, efficient private healthcare system!!!
I have written to the PM and urged him to instruct Hancock to do just that!!!!

I'm a proud Remainer but even I took umbrage at some of the European nations dissing our Oxford/AZ vaccine.
Right up until this morning when my wife's best friend was hospitalised with a blood clot a fortnight after receiving her first AZ jab.
There's something dodgy happening & now my wife refuses to have her second jab (I received the Pfizer).
If Carlsberg did cover ups.....

We are at present with the vaccinations in the best place of any of the European countries. It is a totally political decision by the EU over use of the Astrazeneca vaccine purely because of the Oxford link and the fact they cannot make as much money from other vaccine brands. Total missinformation and sour grapes.
Frightened of the truth are we? The Tories run the money-laundering capital of the planet, will take money from anybody and throw money at their friends like confetti. And that's not criminal enough for you?
dont be so hard on yourself

The problem with Boris is his "Presidential Style" (self-declared) which means you have a person who does not regard themselves answerable to Parliament and has enough flunkeys to shoulder any blame from his 'one step removed/CEO' (also self-declared) methodology
We are not a republic, we do not have Presidents, and HM Queen's Prime Minster is answerable to Parliament whether he likes it or not

talks more sense than the deniers, and thats what grates you isnt it ?
And that has what relevance to this Covid related HYS?
