Being around during Brady and Peyton has made Brees terribly underrated. A great player who I wish the very best in whatever is next.

A great player and a fantastic career, but leaves you thinking he should have lead that saints team to another Super Bowl. He is leaving the game at the right point, with class and dignity. Enjoy your retirement Drew!

He should give Brady a call and ask him for his diet plan, then he might play for another 20.....

After Katrina New Orleans needed something to lift that magnificent city. He and that Saints team did that.

Just the most phenomenally accurate passer of all time, the Phil Taylor of the NFL. I seem to remember an episode of sports science where he was more accurate hitting an archery target bullseye from 30 yards with a football than a US Olympic archer with his arrows. Made it so easy for his recievers. There were starting to be the inevitable signs of a decline so perfect time to go.

When on his game there was nobody better. Shame he had had some truly terrible offensive lines and equally bad defences to play with over the years. Would have got a load more rings if he'd had the protection afforded to Brady and a defence as consistently good as the Patriots. Shame also he was too beat-up to make a good offensive line and defence count the last few years.

More rings ? . . . . . if he hadn’t been robbed by some of the most abysmal calls in NFL history

A great player & a great man . . . . never craved attention or headlines for his charity work in the community but few sports stars ever did more.
Enjoy your retirement - you’ve certainly earned it !

Great player but the right time to go: it was clear in the postseason he'd lost his arm. By the way isn't it ridiculous that the NFL doesn't count postseason games in official stats? As if they don't matter, lol.

Probably a good thing for Brees that they don't, as Brady would be ahead of him if they did! Over 12,000 postseason passing yards to Brees 5,000ish.

Brilliant player, was basically an offencive coordinator who played quarterback and his passing ability for a guy who had trouble seeing over the O-line was magic.

Probably didn't get more than 100 times what our overpaid premier league stars get now

I met him on the beach in the Caribbean 5 years ago. He was a nice guy playing silly games with his entourage (his 100ft motor yacht was anchored off the beach). The Brits (like us) had no idea he was this Hall Of Famer (whatever that really means...) until the American pointed it out.

A tremendous player and will be sorely missed. From a Raiders fan the NO game was my favourite last season. He is a great QB and a real thrill to watch.

From a Steelers fan. Drew Brees was an inspiration on and (most importantly) off the pitch. A true hero of New Orleans. great great man, and one of the best ever.

Yep great player and bloke, got the WP Man of the Year as well.
Incredibly accurate but you could tell this year the Saints were compromising a bit and adjusting the plays down to allow for his arm not being as strong.
Wish him all the best, Draft and FA will be interesting, though being a 49ers fan I can't say I'll miss him!
