India got the job done without their main bowlers on a batters pitch regardless of all the comments here.

Why does everyone keep talking about India missing players, when Root and Archer, England's best bowler and batter at the 2019 WC were absent?

This was a fantastic series, between the two best ODI sides in the world, albeit both at 90% strength with key omissions.

India didn’t have their main bowlers, neither did England how many went for more than 6 an over, plus Root and Morgan weren’t playing. Yes it was a batters pitch, strange they couldn’t prepare something similar for the Test matches.

Other sports need to learn from cricket when it comes to commentary. They understand their role is to enhance the spectacle on the pitch and do a great job pretty much every time.

Run rate was never gonna be a problem, the only way we lose that game is by losing wickets consistently and early, and the only way that would have happened is by throwing them away. ‘That’s the way we play’ is an embarrassment as a policy. If any of those batsmen had a brain cell between them this would have been done in 45 overs.

As he makes clear in the quote at the end of the article, Sam Curran was following instructions from the team management. If he had taken some of those singles, Mark Wood could have been out earlier. We do not know. It is always unfair to compare what actually happened against the ideal version of what might have happened had a different policy been pursued.

Talking like it’s so easy and if it is was you, you’d have made the perfect decisions ????. There isn’t a textbook on how to play different scenarios! First time he was in that scenario at international level and he almost nailed it; misjudged it slightly. If he did the opposite and Wood lost his wicket earlier, I bet you’d still be criticising him. Just applaud the effort.

What an incredible innings from Sam Curran!
He singlehandedly brought England back into the game.
Totally deserved that hundred.
Can you imagine if it had ended in a Super Over scenario?
That was too close for weak-hearted fans (such as myself).
India’s fielding towards the end, almost gave it away.

what benchmarks are you using? If rankings do not matter, how do you exactly categorize teams? Do teams need to score 500 runs to be called outstanding! Even if they do get 400-500 runs, you would still say the bowling team is pathetic.

India in England 2018:

England won test series 4-1

England won T20s 2-1

Home Advantage is clearly a bigger margin than the difference between these two sides, the best in the world.

Think Butts was unlucky to be given out by the onfield umpire. Many more that would've been given out are shown to have barely hit the stumps or give straight over them. Perhaps as Koli said whether onfield umpire gives it out or not, the video umpire should over rule unless there is absolute certainty the ball would have cleanly hit one of the stumps. It's a bit of a lottery rn!

India never got going & when they seem to, India tightened the screws. The top order failed, Stokes wicket was the big win. Hats off to Curran tried his best but never really supported.

The WCs humbled by India, not only in this series but across all three formats. England just aren’t good enough in the sub continent

Great contest again. Credit to India for holding their nerve and posting 3 big totals after being put in to bat thrice in succession. No let up whatsoever. In fact they lost almost every toss and still won the tour 8-4.
