England suffer a chastening seven-wicket defeat by a resurgent India in the second Twenty20 in Ahmedabad.
No way, sometimes you got to give benefit of doubt to batsman. Thats how the game goes!
That decision was very close and the equivalent of an umpire’s call - just like how Kishan was given out for that reason. The ICC need to introduce a soft signal for that, but that’s down to them.
You can’t have all tight calls going your way. Quit moaning.

Looks like there is no COVID in India!
It wasn't 100% out. Even a neutral umpire would have given it not out.
Quit moaning...
Quit moaning...
If the umpire is not 100% certain the doubt goes with the batsman. Looking at those grainy shots he couldn't be 100% certain. India would have won anyway at that time.
From stump vision, it looked like somethig was behind the line. I dont think there was enough evidence to say it was clearly out.
When third umpire doesn't use stump vision you moan, when they do use, you still moan.
Instead, you should be moaning why morgan didnt bring on rashid when kohli came to bat! Doh!

just bear in mind, even in non-COVID times, in a t2o international there are no neutral umpires (only a neutral referee) and also Mark Wood was injured
There was a call against stokes for a no ball. It was almost identical to the stumping in that you couldn’t tell for 100% that there wasn’t anything behind the line but there probably wasn’t. We should at the least expect consistency from the umpires so either it wasn’t a no ball or kholi was out.
Sam Curran and Archer had the best bowling figures on the day, Rashid was about par. So it’s unfair to say “most” of England’s bowlers were rubbish, in fact half were! In fact Sam Curran and Archer were superb.
Funny, don't remember many English batsmen, including the captain, walking when they were clearly OUT in various other games. What was Kohli supposed to do ?
All Umpires make mistakes. Live with it.
All Umpires make mistakes. Live with it.
If we'd caught him it would not have been an issue. The infield umpires in the test series were excellent.
CP88 - "very poor"?! I too was unaware that the stumping law had been changed before this Test series. I saw the guidance for the Umpires (on & off pitch) :- 1) If a home-team batsman is within a foot of making his ground, give the benefit of the doubt. 2) If the batsman is named Kohli, change point #1 to a yard. 3) Even after #2, if a batsman named Kohli is STILL out, it's a no-ball or wide.
Well played India, comfortable win & a thrilling innings by Kishan.
Who else is dismayed at the zero social distancing in the crowd. Why is this allowed to happen? How many deaths will there be from this game? Players from both teams must be very nervous of a pitch invasion.

India does not have a major Covid problem, the strain of the virus is mild compared to here. As a general rule the virus is far less potent in hot countries. Interesting because they gave up with trying to lock down months ago.
Well, I don't think there's too much to read into that. England struggled to adjust to the ball slowing up in the pitch. India saw this and played their shots later while we didn't bowl that well. A light batting finish plus a couple of dropped catches brought morale down and Kishan and kohli capitalised to seal a comfortable win for India. Well played india- Bring on game 3.
Stokes dropped catch ??
Agreed. England probably 20 runs light of the score they should have got, but didn’t bowl or field well enough so probably would have lost even with 180+. Deserved win for India, on to match 3.

People with no understanding of Cricket were saying things like pitches will turn square blah blah.
England didn't win match 1 because they are vastly superior, India lost because of the experiments they are doing in to lead up to the T20 world cup.

Agreed. Two good knocks.
Both of them.
In his interview he said he had a chat with AB de Villiers who told him to "just watch the ball"... Seemed to work.
You will never grow. God help you mate!
The only dodgy thing here is your brain
Fair play to India, it was a clinical win.
Despite losing Buttler early, I think England started well.
But couldn’t capitalize at the back end & left like 20-25 runs out there.
It was a 190 pitch.

Hopefully those people who think International Cricket doesn't need neutral officials have been paying attention to this tour.
What's your point

we were definitely 30 runs or so short. we have one of the best and explosive batting lineup in the world and we scored 35 runs in the last 5 overs!! that is not acceptable. quite happy with the way Roy got better and his confidence. Losing wood was definitely a huge blow since the Indians struggled against his pace last time. credit to india as well. Kohli is a master chaser. on to game 3!
King Kohli with the match winning runs and fifty... bet you English don't like that
Normal service resumed then.
It’s 1-1. We’ll decide what “normal@ is at the end of the series.
England can now blame on the pitch and oh wait, they can’t blame Kohli tonight. Can they ?
I’m sure they won’t blame anything, in the same way they made no excuses in the test series.
The fact that India and Pakistan produce cheating umpires is nothing new, and is not the reason we lost. Removed

Made no difference but kohl’s clearly out what’s going on. On a selection point why was Woakes out there should clearly play as all rounder Curran’s first over gave the momentum to India.not sure Woakes would have bowled so poorly. Still 1 -1 all to play for .
The only thing worse than keeping a clearly-out Kohli in for the fans was letting thousands pack in without even a pretence of distancing.
Tight calls have gone both ways throughout this tour - even the Kishan lbw call was given umpire’s call. But in Kohli’s case the game had already been lost as they needed about 15 from 5.
But some people will always moan...

India bowled very well at the death and most of England’s bowlers were woeful, I had real doubts when I heard Wood was out and replaced with Tom Curran.
The result was always going one way and India deserved to win. That said, KOHLI WAS OUT! No doubts that a neutral umpire would have given it. Very poor from the home umpires again. Removed

What is with fans like you? Cannot resist moaning.. Pitch, umpires, weather there is always an excuse!!!
In cricket you say ‘well done to India’ and move on to the next match. Stick your football chat on a football page
So boring to hear the same bleating time and time again. I guess no English batsmen has ever had a decision go for him , or a bowler given a wicket in error. For goodness sake get a life and join the real World. The
Whinge, whinge, whinge, whinge, whinge!
Credit to India who bowled very well but England made it easy for them today. I've said for a while now that T Curran is not an international level bowler. Expensive more often than not.
Put this performance to bed and on with the next one, England.
Put this performance to bed and on with the next one, England.
A difficult pitch to bat on when India bowl. With England back to bowling wide and short it is suddenly an easy pitch to bat on. Final nail was the third umpire not giving Kohli out stumped when he was clearly out. Disgrace of an umpire.
Typical England. Always get carried away after 1 win and then get humiliated after!
They “always” get carried away after one win? Yeah ok.
N.O,B
Great game, oops this was not the English fans expected. Well done India, great to see excellent young players shine on debut. Looks like an exciting series, both teams have potential to win the series obviously India are the favorites.
India are not “obviously” the favourites. Despite having 12 men.
Sack Morgan. He's a useless captain and second rare batsman
Never in the contest- batting never got going for a T20 and the bowlers stood it up nicely for India to hit - not a good day at the office!
Some were saying things like pitches will turn square blah blah. Now wait for even funnier excuses.
This India side is right at the top. Like I said earlier - A T20 match between top teams today is quite a bit of lottery. You win toss half the battle is won.
England didn't win match 1 because they are vastly superior rather India lost because they "rested" their top opener.

Rubbish. England were far superior to India in the first game, just like India were superior to England in this one.

I am an Indian supporter, personally I dont think you are giving them enough credit for the 1st game. Both teams dominated when they won. It sets up a good series!

It was out mate. He’d have given Morgan.
Why should the benefit only go one way. It was close but I have seen far closer given.
It would have had no impact on the result, but I still want the right decisions made and the 3rd umpiring on this tour has been atrocious.
On field umpires don’t have benefit of replays and umpiring mistakes is just part of the game but no excuse for poor TV umpiring. On field umpires have been good actually.

there wasn't any doubt, nothing behind the line. Pointless cheating, the game was already over, but for some reason they couldn't quite give Kohli out. Pretty pathetic.
Yes you’re right. It’s a scam that all word leaders, all nhs staff, all scientists, etc are all secretly in on. Amazing that not one of them has come forward yet to admit they’ve been silenced.

Having lost the 1st match, the Indians predictably up to their old tricks again! A poor substandard rank turner 'beach' wicket & poor umpiring too! No wonder our boys lost! A complaint must be made to the ICC about the state of the pitch immediately!
Bet you weren’t saying that when you were batting and going at over 8 an over.

That's the same rubbish spouted about Jade Dernbach and he was awful even in first class cricket but still got an England call up for allegedly being a death bowler

20 / 20 cricket is a lottery. Test cricket really sorts out the men from the boys. Mind you, India won that series too!
I used to detest T 20 cricket, but I must admit, having seen a good bit of the IPL last year, it certainly sharpens up players and demands good fielding skills. Also developes good big - match temperament. Certainly its influence doesn't seem to have weakened India as a test team....
When is a stumping not a stumping?

Everyone going on about social distance. Maybe a third world country with a population of over a billion handled lockdown way better than a small rich island with inept leaders and experts. The fans in the stadium suggest to me that they are out of lockdown. The excuses coming out when losing a game is comical.

Enjoy seeing fans in the stadium whilst you can. Cases are rising in India again and one by one states are having to bring back more restrictions.
What are you talking about? COVID is still rife in India, but like your umpires, Indians ignore the rules.

Wood is injured yet again, and he hasn't even played any cricket. No chance of being in the Ashes.
Don't say that, Dougal ... (even though you're absolutely right).
I really want Wood & Archer playing the 1st Ashes Test, together.

What was the headline for previous game, please? Now Agnew will complain ICC for slowness of pitch midway during England batting. hahahha
The complaint was that a test match was finished before the end of the second day. It wasn’t a test match pitch. He’ll say nothing of the sort about a one day pitch, Mark my words.
I'm not suggesting the result was anything other than an India victory. England's bowling was awful. It's still not good when umpires are 'incorrect' (at best) in a country where dozens have been banned for betting cheating, and umpiring standards are... questionable.
Some were saying things like pitches will turn square blah blah. Now wait for even funnier excuses.

I agree.

English always want a fairly tale story. 2 brothers playing for a team!
....and not that I will get any support, but Stokes keeps his place in all England teams by turning up once every 20 games. And I can only dream that Archer will one day be as good as the media claim he is - most of the time, he doesn't look bothered.
They play in the home counties, if they played for Derbyshire they would be unknown.??
Statistically wrong. He has played hardly any cricket since last year and is one of the best finishes England have.
Tom Curran, son of a British subject, father born in a crown colony in illegal revolt, had a great season in the Aussie Big Bash. He is a specialist death bowler and had an off day.
Better team won. Chasing team nearly always wins in T20. Rules need looking at.

I think Nick was using typically English sarcasm ??????
It's like a boxing match. 1 punch after another between these two teams. England are probably like Ivan Drago the juggernaut, India looking more like rocky Balboa, coming back after taking a mauling. Great contest. Shaping up to be tasty year with so many Eng-Ind matches this year.
Does that mean the next Rocky film will involve India being the favourite as Balboa trains up and upcoming opponent to beat them
Ishan Kishan, what a talent. Will be interesting to see if he can keep up the same momentum in the future.
Any reason why he never played in the first game when he is so talented
What a debut! PotM on debut!
Lucky for Kishan to be an opener though. Looking at the other debutant - SKY. There was a lot more chatter around him. Shrill calls asking for his inclusion. When the poor guy somehow broke in - his turn with the bat never came!

I watched many of the Mumbai games in the latest IPL and he looks to be something special. That gets said s lot about you g players, particularly from India with the batting depth they have in the IPL but if I had to put my money on a few players who'll continue to shine, he'd be one.

It takes some time to overcome the trauma of foreign occupation and exploitation. Look at other former European colonies. Most of them are still struggling to get back to be themselves. India has at least begun to indicate what its real place in the world ought to be.
Player and team criticism in India has only been a fairly recent thing. Before that, players were guaranteed long careers on the back of a few good performances regardless of the outcome. Not so much the case now.
Because one country stole 45 trillion dollars from us. Most of the population was poor and their kids who were interested in pursuing sports as a career were not welcome. It is only now that India has become strong economically and that also translates to sporting achievements.
Well played India - comprehensive win.
Note to BBC Sport - your so called commentary feed is rank poor. Shemilt and Lofthouse - focus on Cricket, and not confectionery!
I had TalkSport 2 on in tandem, just to hear events in real time. Much better service.

Agree. Whenever I go on the feed it's some nonsense like if you were a superhero would you be.
Much the same as TMS - the cricket now seems to take second place to juvenile humour and irrelevancies. Time and a place for that but not while overs are being bowled. Apart from Darren Gough, TalkSport 2 has a much better commentary team
Gosh you must be really boring. It's called fun. They did up date the scores when needed and reported what was going on. So simple if you don't like don't watch TMS then you will be happy. But i guess you will always find something to complain about.
the non cricket talk is inversely proportional to how well England are doing
I agree... I have been very impressed with Talksport (apart from Mark Nicholas who I can't stand)
Kohli is a class above. A pleasure to watch him do his thing.
Kohli jeees............running at umpires and challenging decisions yet again tonight .....................pathetic...........he needs a ban!! In rugby union he would have been sent off several games ago, but because they are no euro/uk umpires,he his getting gets away with it!
nope........affraid not, needs to be banned for charging and challenging umpires decisions...........
Should learn to walk when clean bowled
Looks like there is no COVID in India!
Well India produces 60% of the world's vaccines & is a major producer of the Covid vaccine too in collaboration with the Oxford Astra Zeneca group - so am sure it can capably deal with the pandemic & vaccinating its people!

I remember when Jonny Bairstow batted at 7 and had the gloves in Test match cricket and made six centuries.
I also remember when Jonny Bairstow was the most destructive T20 opening batsman in the world, both with David Warner at club level and Jason Roy at International level.
Do you remember those days too?
