It was set up to help prevent lockdowns but there have been two more since its launch, MPs say.
Dido Harding has a great future career path thanks to test and trace: she can advise African and South American despots on how to better milk their subjects Removed

Harding is useless, I think we all agree on that. But test and trace was never going to work, it failed in all European countries.

The stupid amounts of money that ended up being spent wouldn't have been needed had the Govt imposed a lockdown in mid-March rather than attempted herd immunity before dawdling for two weeks. The sheer panic that ensued following this mistake has meant that billions have been wasted. Second, why was our system so unprepared for this? It's really shocking for a country of our affluence and science.

The ever invisible Queen Dido and her entourage of £1k- a-day courtiers dance endlessly on at her Palace of Unlimited Public Funding and for what? How dare this grubby administration yelp about debt and tax or whimper at nurses pay when this over paid under performing shambles of a project still breathes the same air as us! Money back in full please! Dido can pawn her pearls! Removed

37,000,000,000 pounds of taxpayers money spent/wasted on this and counting, yet still we end up with Europe's highest death rate, strictest and still ongoing lockdown and inevitably the worst economic downturn.
How will the government appointed cronies, contract recipients and their families be passing their time over the next decades as the nation in general goes about paying for their mistakes ?

Lockdown - unnecessary and damaging.

Border restrictions - unnecessary and damaging.

Just pandering to the loudest tweet every time!!

Grant Shapps stated on the BBC today that the £37 billion was used to contact 9.1 million people. That is £4,065 per customer. To put that in perspective that is 10 week’s wages for many people for each single person contacted. This insane government and the dead sheep opposition are a disgrace. Britain deserves better to get better, I’m dangerously sick of them. You do the maths.

We need a wide ranging public inquiry to get to the bottom of all the decisions made (right and wrong)during this crisis and the rationale for the spending of public money.

With the worst parts of lockdown due to end in June it can start then, immediately.

And anybody who has shown themselves to be incompetent will need to step aside.

Find the facts.

Take the responsibilty.

Move forwards.

1% for nurses.
1% increase in debt every month.
1% keeping millions in tax havens.

Don't vote Tory then.

"But what are the alternatives!!!" I hear you squawk...yes yes I know.

But this government are literally just passing BILLIONS of taxpayers money to their mates. It's disgusting corruption. I'd take the alternative.

£37bn? I suppose we could get some money back by selling the story of our failure to Americans via social networks!

Why are BoJo and pals cutting foreign aid?

The poverty and hardship and health problems around the world are enormous. Why are we led by self serving ministers who pander to self interested voters?

Global Britain should be leading the global vaccine program. We have lost the ‘imperative’ policy objective. That is a serious failing. Telling our struggling neighbour to go away is not good.

So no Covid19 testing done then? Did well in tracing the passenger with the Brazillian variant.

And how do you stop the Covaidiots; those who refuse to follow the rules/self isolate/wear a mask/attend protests/illegal raves etc.

How did they contribute to the spread of Covid/r rate?

Not considered by the PAC!

What has that got to do with anything? Read the article. Admittedly, as it's the BBC, the most important part of the whole article is only half a sentence long.

Vast majority of the money spent is on the actual testing network. The one that didn't exist 12 months ago and is now better than any in Europe.

UK has conducted more Covid tests that France & Germany combined. Fact.
