The lockdown is what has led to a return to normality. Vaccine and testing have had little effect on data thus far. Lockdown data now mirrors very precisely last years data, when we had neither vaccine nor testing.

When I participated in sport there were clear distinctions between amateur and professional. Taking prize money made you professional. And, in all sports, the prize money was always related to the box office. A third rate boxing match never commanded the same rewards as a heavyweight title fight. So, women's prize money should, like the men's, be dependent on the box office.

It's nice to see the children going back to school. The psychological damage this lock down and other lockdowns has caused to their young minds is incalculable. We were lucky with being a key worker so our child was still at primary school but some of her friends were not. Speaking to their parents they said their children became listless and almost feral at times. Keep safe everyone.

Utter nonsense. Life does not and never did revolve Around schools for children. It is the day jail of forced association with those you would not choose to be with. Real life always had friends locally. I suppose as parents buss their liability children to the dumping school childcare service long distances from home, children rarely permitted local friends next door creating this distopia.
If these pictures of muzzled kids were smuggled out of North Korea every child protection organisation would be having a fit...

Kids already a good year behind... forced to have a breathing inhibitors strapped on for 7 hours a day is simply child abuse.

Using Hollywood contacts to promote a fictional sob story through a dim member of the Royal Family will never go down well with the sensible people of the U.K. They know the Family will not stoke the fires by giving the real version of events.

Children are statistically more at risk from food allergies than covid & studies last Summer showed there was not one documented case in the world of a child under 11 infecting an adult while around the world where schools were not closed & children not muzzled like animals teachers were at no more risk than anyone else!

Starmer is an idiot. Thankfully lockdown or not isn’t his decision.

Lockdown easing should be sped up not delayed. Cases and deaths are falling way faster than before.

I’d agree keep an eye on cases, but if new cases are mostly asymptomatic and in young then really we need to lockdown again?

I hope they bear these things in mind rather than just looking at headline figure from now on.

This is why the schools should be closed down - the Victorian model of education is obsolete - and children taught online from a central hub.
This would have the added advantage of freeing up school buildings for flats, etc., and allow the now-redundant teachers to be deployed as agricultural labourers.

I see more people gathering from different households around Barbican estate in City of London, than I noticed pupils going back to the school situated in the middle of it.
Often groups of 4-6 but maybe as today just before 6pm, group of @15 having food & drinks. Weekend before, parents threw a party for their kids with parents and kids numbering over 20. Think schools less of an issue

Teachers are complaining because at long last they’re having to do some work. Goodness me - they have a cushy life. Stop whinging for God’s sake!! Removed

The Headline reads "Headteachers say the return to school was gone well" Did you even bother to read it before your little rant about teachers?

"WE all need to meet others"

Why's that then? Couldn't care less if I never met anyone again. Needy, clingy,touchy-feely people... yuk.

No, because it is pointless. Do you really still think this rubbish makes any difference at all? Removed

Inset days are NOT days off. They are planning and prep days for the school.
Teacher get paid for 1265 hours, 33.28 hours per week for 39 weeks.
Teachers spend on average 722-760 hours in a classroom teaching, 19-20 hours per week for 38 weeks.
Why do they need to take away from classroom teaching time to plan and prep are not the 505-543 hours a year they are paid for while not in a classroom teaching enough.

How can this return has gone well as parents milling around school gates with no masks and no social distancing. Its time to introduce £1000 school gate fines. Today I saw only one mother complying. These parents should be ashamed the example they are setting children and some of course will cause more deaths.

They have been given far far more than they 'deserve' (stupid indefinable nonsense hype word) already. Plus they have had a great year in full work on full pay and overtime. Even better than school teachers!

Just how much riches is enough for these PS lot? Teachers, nurses, police, etc, are in the rich half of earners already. All living the high life funded by other people’s taxes.

Hopefully, today is the first day of getting back some normality in our lives.
Normality? Children deprived of oxygen wearing masks? BBC clearly loves the pictures of kids in masks and thinks it normal? But then they covered for Jimmy Saville didn't they. Removed
So Prince Philip definitely didn't make the crass comment about the baby's skin colour.

My son is a key worker. He's worked his backside off during the pandemic providing food to the good people of London. He will be one of the last to get the jab. I've worried about him every day.

Please can we try not to be so flipping cruel on these HYS. There- I've had my say and I will leave you.
Difficult time ahead if he no longer has a backside Removed

Once The Queen and Philip go, get rid of the whole lot of them.

If the Americans want to pay for them via some The Crown reality show, then fine.
