The Licence Fee is far too cheap. It should be at least £400.

I would willingly sell my house and all its contents to help the BBC.

Funny isn't how the BBC the 'bastion of freedom' forces customers to pay for a licence? its more akin to dictatorship. So ironical when the BBC spouts so much liberalism, yet acts so differently about its licence.

You earn more, you pay tax. The more you earn, the more tax you pay. It’s simple really, or does Keir Starmer want everything tax free?
funny as its the tories who pay almost zero taxes just like the criminal companies who avoid taxes but give massive donations to tory central office and when the tax man finally catches up with them no fines no jail time just please dont do it again Removed

Well done you!! Please provide advise on how you manage to avoid VAT. Do that and the revenue you'll get from book sales will make it irrelevant on whether you pay tax in any form. Additionally can you add fuel duty, alcohol duty and tobacco duty? I realise this might be stretching it a bit but I ask in good faith.

Gov have bankrupted country.

Furlough has been far too generous and open to abuse. Billions have been wasted.

Furlough should have only been offered to businesses where we could get a return on our investment.

It will take generations to pay this back.

Boris just wants to be popular and will spend, spend, spend leaving someone else to sort his mess out.

The ones who piss me off, are the ones who took advantage of every grant and continued to work. Breaking all the rules and just taking advantage of PAYE people. These people avoid paying tax, then complain they can’t get all the covid relief because they haven’t registered enough income to benefit. If they had declared their actual earnings, they would have been supported, but they didn’t. f them.
Boris and his chums have stolen billions from us taxpayers in dodgy deals during coronavirus.

The corruption is not being institutionalised with a slush fund exempt from procurement rules and a Boris and Carrie 'charity' the beneficiaries can pay their bribes into.

Wonder how much this Census, with the threat of a fine if its not sent back ,is costing the country in postage , staff , analysts , and the asorted extras to work out what the data is going to prove. If theyn all do get completed..which is doubtful ..let alone being accurate ...millions hate this govt for their actions ..so realisticly why will they comply with this?!?!? Removed

Given that a vastly disproportionate percentage of the total tax burden falls upon a relatively small percentage of the earning population - more so in the UK than anywhere else - and more than half the voters can vote for punitive tax policies to which they are totally immune, I'd say that extending income tax liability to cover more of the population was not only predictable, it was essential.

FLAT RATE taxes are what we need.

Fair to all.
High thresholds to protect the poor. The more you earn the more you pay but doesn’t stifle hard work and innovation.

Easy to understand. Applies to income, dividends and capital gains. No exemptions / allowances.

Efficient - countries using it have a higher tax take as people work harder and innovate.

Look on the bright side...we have the benefits of Brexit to look forward to.

It's true 95% of economists don't see any positives (only the opposite)....but Boris says it's a good thing....so it must be! What do the world's best economist know anyway.....
£25m of taxpayer funding to help the fishing industry which has been shafted by Brexit.

I'm old enough to remember when the Gment used this very industry as a focus of Brexit benefits.

Turns out they were lying.

The Wheels are dropping off this Budget already, Sunak is a Gambler and Johnson is as thick as a slab of Marble, they have in a single fell swoop condemned the Poorest to a Generation of Austerity and misery, the shock was watching Johnson and Sunak, listening to Starmer taking apart the Budget, he was as eloquent as any I have heard, at 89 I have heard a lot, this Budget stinks in its own mire.

It’s hardly surprising that there is negativity on the BEEB, as they are exempt from an opinion and it’s hardly surprising that any tax increases are on the cards after the sheer amount of money the government has spent supporting the country. You cannot have it all everyone’s way. The only surprising thing is that a Tory gov spent the money at all which shows they are not all about wealth !

A load of people who want stuff for free and others to pay for it in this HYS.

Council tax needs to rise sharply as well to ensure Councils are not borrowing to cover day to day expenses.

If you want it, pay for it.
