Look forward to the day the oil money runs out and they're back in league 2 where they belong.

I am afraid I must disagree with regards to Stones. He was the cause of City's relatively poor start this season. He appears to have shown a little improvement but he is not Premiership quality, being too inconsistent, hence his non-regular team place.

Foden was an absolute animal tonight, in the best way. Shame for him that he didn’t get a goal as a reward - he deserved one.

People keep saying VAR is ruining football. Well, Foden was punished tonight for being honest and trying to stay on his feet - THAT is the kind of thing which ruins football.

Could someone please explain to me how that Foden challenge wasn't a penalty. The game has been ruined by the likes of Salah, Mane etc who will dive to win a penalty. Foden plays the game properly, we need more players like him around.
154
11/03/2021 00:02:12 92 10

Exactly, the non-stop theatrical cheating by Salah and Mane has made referees so sceptical - that when (an honest) player stays on his feet, they automatically assume no penalty

City would have missed the pen anyway ??, would have won the game anyway.

But if a stonewall penalty isn't given because the player didn't go down, that is what encourages those going down with the wind.

And VAR is only for toe nails and armpits.

The harsh reality is that diving has become a fully accepted part of the game. The players do it, the referees buy it, VAR supports it and we get lots of cheap penalties because of it. I've been telling anyone who will listen (not many I'm afraid!) that diving has become the single biggest problem in professional football. They need to sort it out asap, but I just don't see it happening.

Neutral football fan,
My own opinion after watching the game was that J Moss did not have a very good game nor did Var, the saints pen no problem but the push in the back on Du Bruyne in the pen area was no different to the saints pen given other than one was a push and one was a pull back.
The Foden incident said it all, inconsistency by officials bordering on bias towards the saints, sorry ref

Only scored 2 for technical difficulty and 1 for artistic impression.
The actual challenge was worthy of a red card as likely to cause injury studs on ankle.
The message is clear; dive, dive, dive! Entangle your legs with the defender, because if you're honest you'll get nowt! So let's have no more whining about player making referee's work hard. It's theither own fault.

Pen or not I am sick of the commentators Oh he earned a pen, he won a pen and he felt a touch so was entitled to go down claptrap. Look at the 'proper' games from the 1980's and see how much effort was needed to actually bring a player down. As Foden didnt go down its evident the touch wasnt enough to make him collapse in agony like so many others so please stop the diving cheats that do.

Spot on, he didn’t dive, he didn’t try to cheat, could have quite easily gone down for a legitimate penalty, but even after being fouled he tried to play on, a real credit to himself, we need more honest players in the game ??

City need to realize that PL wants the race to be as close as possible at the top so there will be many more decisions like this! Not only that, CL admins don't want City or PSG to win the CL so they will go out of their way to make sure the two don't win. City winning the recent court case against CL doesn't help their cause much. ONLY way City or PSG can win is if they are 200% perfect!

Just how incompetent can a VAR official be - Martin Atkinson follows the ineptitude of a series of PL referees who can’t give an obvious decision when he has a still in front of his very eyes. Those attendance figures look good, but compared to United's 75,000+ they pale into insignificance. AND, there is only a tiny, tiny, tiny number of empty seats for most games.
Some years ago a blues fan won big money on a TV game show, when asked, he "proudly" said he intended to buy "lots and lots" of United season tickets so they would remain empty. True story, does that show any bitterness?

After Sunday's humbling by United, anyone would think City would go all out to match (or even outdo) my team's 9-0 trouncing of Southampton. But surprisingly the blues were not able to get anywhere near the Red's domination.
And please feel free to remind the entire universe that United played against nine men!
Are City at the top of a slippery slope and about to emulate Newcastle back in 1996?

Had you lot had some attacking ambition against the top sides then maybe you wouldn’t be a country mile behind your superior neighbors. Perhaps another £300m required to retain a top 4 spot, we won the PL & CL on a fraction of the money you lot wasted.

Although I don't really care to, I cannot deny the truth in what you say, Alan.

On the back of their flukey win United were all on here the other day talking about chasing us down - you'd think they'd learn that such statements also end in embarrassment. Face it United's win felt like when a plucky non-league team somehow knocks out a league team 2 or 3 levels above them. It was a one-off and 9 times out of 10 wouldn't have happened. Now the big boys are back in charge again.

City only winning because of oil money. Can't stand this club.
Look forward to the day the oil money runs out and they're back in league 2 where they belong.
People whinge about Liverpool and United but not the FFP cheats City.
You do know don't you? When the Sheik bought City they were in the Premier League? Or are you a racist fool? Removed
No, Peter ain't a fool. Neither is he a racist (except in your head). Please advise how properly referring to a foreign person by his rank can be deemed 'racist.' Removed

... and in the CL last 8 you fail to mention!

By the way, we all start with 0 points next season when our players are fit & rested. Enjoy our mid table mediocrity while you can, it won’t last!
