An unexpected acceleration in values last month pushed prices to a record high, the Nationwide says.
Is there really a housing shortage? Just look on Rightmove - there are hundreds of thousands of houses for sale!
Google 'How many houses for sale in UK?' and you'll not get an answer - only how many houses have been sold this month.
My 3,000sq ft detached house in the Midlands has increased just 2.5%pa over the last 18 years.... yet has been for sale for 3 years now....

It's interesting to see what will happen when the 'boomer' generation die off. Most are in their 60s and 70s now. Those with significant wealth will either use it for personal care or leave it to children and the Exchequer.
Large numbers of houses will be freed up, and with birth rates falling, housing shortages should ease and prices stabilise.

Excellent news. People are dying, people are losing their jobs, people have lost their freedom, but hey as long as house prices keep shooting up, who cares.
