Brighton sink Saints to boost survival bid

Brighton claim an important victory in their quest to avoid relegation from the Premier League and leave Southampton far from safe.

We are so painful to watch. Sideways passing, backwards passing all the time by the full backs. Every pass you make should be a forward pass. No pace going forward. Bertrand marking Dunk for the corner ??
Losing the faith Ralph !
Hope Brighton manage to avoid relegation. Always liked them since watching them unlucky to lose to hot favourites Everton in 1984 FA Cup Final. If only Gordon Smith hadn’t missed a sitter in the last minute! That 1984 Final always comes up in pub quizzes due to Villa and Sunderland both scoring. Removed

Main reason people want Brighton to stay up is cos it's an easy 6 points each season. They're like Leeds without the goal threat. Nice n open, easy to score against.

I'd like Fulham to stay up for the same reason.

This might have been as poor as a couple of Sat's games, given form, but was actually very decent. Fair result too; I thought BHA were slightly the better & certainly had the best chances. Huge game next week at home to NU. Win that too & I think they're 80% safe. Equally, I don't think Saints fans need fear. Play as you did today & you'll pick up enough pts.

Folks - for goodness sakes! This is deliberate attention-seeking. Isn't it obvious that this is deliberately loaded with errors to get you to respond? Don't respond, don't downvote, just report it for being off-topic & the mods will eventually ban it as they have many times before (I'm pretty sure I know which regular pathetic troll this is). Excellent win for BHA.

This "new" user is a many-times banned troll, who posts lies cos its desperate for attention. Don't bother trying to correct anyone who posts like this; they know they're wrong, they're doing it DELIBERATELY. Starve them of the oxygen they crave; don't respond, don't down-vote, just report it for being off-topic until the mods ban it again!

Soton statistically the worst team in 2021, even worse than Shef Utd, West Brom & Newcastle. Can't even use the excuse of injuries as we're no worse off than any other team now. Never turn up for the 2nd half, last shot was at 60 mins. Just embarrassing. How much longer can Hassenhutl last? Keeps setting worst-ever records and can't turn this form around.

Pathetic show by Saints. No ideas whenever they get the ball - just pass it across or back. Defensive tactics can just be described as "panic". Bring back the old days of attacking football and properly marshalled defence. I switched off at half time!

Massive game next week against Brighton, Fulham have a tricky game against Leeds on Friday. I'd say its a must not lose rather than a must win for Newcastle as Brighton winning that with the momentum from today it becomes a shootout between Newcastle and Fulham. Can't see Burnley or Southampton getting sucked in it'll be a low pts total needed to survive this year.

It's getting increasingly serious for Southampton; they really needed those 3 points if their presence in the PL is to continue into next season. Time is not on their side and Ralph seems unable to work out a decent defensive strategy against attacking teams.

Well where do you start with Saints and Ralph !
No urgency in the final 20 minutes, Redmond is so poor . I’ve got it wrong with Adams but he and Ings can’t play in the same side which is good at the moment.
Is it fair to always bring on Lundulu with a few minutes to go and us trailing and then not bothering to try and get crosses in .

I thought this would be worth watching as both teams are a mix of lousy defences , lousy strikers & lousy form.

If this form is replicated next season, we look a good bet for relegation. Yet again, we were outplayed in the second half; our substitutions contributed nothing. Walker-Peters has been poor since his injury. Ward-Prowse runs around trying to clear up the mess, but there is no midfield creativity, and the final ball is invariably poor, or a ballooned cross to an attack with no aerial threat. Poor.

Big fan of Ralph, but seriously, where is the defence!? How have they not learned their lesson by now, 2nd highest number of goals conceded this season. Get carved open so easily time and again and outnumbered at the back, can't defend long-balls for their life. Should have been at least a point today but the defence again was pathetic. Bednarek needs a rest, always one step behind at the moment

Have never seen a side pass the ball backwards as much as this Southampton team - even in the last few minutes, chasing a point. One of the worst offenders is the 'maestro' James Ward-Prowse - off-loads the ball as soon as he receives it (usually backwards). Far too much praise, as he takes a 'mean' corner - what's so good about that? White flag raised as soon as they put soft-tackling Redmond on.

Didn't realise proper football involves losing so much. Brighton and Fulham get praised for pretty football? Why? Any team can pass the ball around with no end product. It's not like those teams are losing 4-3 every week.

Simple fact is that they don't score enough but they concede too often - maybe if they tightened up defence they wouldn't be where they are.
