Stop making this headlines! It's just asking for Covidiots to relax and ignore the rules
It appears that my comment stating that we're doing better than the E.U is upsetting the regular moaners on here.
You'd think they'd be happy that the UK's approach is proving to be a winner
But i guess it doesn't fit in with their agenda.
No doubt they've still had their vaccination though :o)

Perhaps you missed every disaster after disaster over the last year, and the mountain of dead bodies?
125k dead, 2nd worst rate in the world. Worst economic performance of all major economies during crisis. Great progress? Are you poorly?
What great progress? So far Brexit has only made things worse.

Alert Levels One and Two are very troubling. Firstly it suggests that the strategy is to 'eliminate Covid' from these islands - something that could never be done without unceasing restrictions on freedom, and probably couldn't even then. Secondly, it suggests that any situation in which there are even a handful of cases still requires an element of social distancing or restrictions. Forever.
DaveG - Since my early schooldays I have been kept safe from some very nasty illnesses thanks to the brilliant work from scientists and health service providers who enabled me to be vaccinated. Please think critically about how much tripe you are listening to and regurgitating. You're better than that, show them who's boss.
And your evidence for such a ridiculous claim is ....?
What exactly is your proof that vaccines don't actually work?
If you are going to make such a sweeping statement, I suggest you add your qualifications to justify your allegation.
Ignorance is often far too loud ...

The trouble with all anti Vax comments is they are never supported by an ounce of data or analysis, and not one reference to a peer reviewed source.
Yet they do so much harm in spreading doubt.
In contrast there are a number of independent studies that demonstrate the vaccines are already reducing serious illness, hospitalization and death. Many are referenced by the BBC this week.

It all looks +ve for the UK. Still don't book you hols yet as there si still no agree travel arrangements and looking at the pathetic EU response and approach who would want t be in countries where they are not tackling the virus and vaccinating their people but ratre doing sour grapes because of the successful UK approach. Show not to rely on the US of E
Before your offensive comment gets modded - In English, there are a million doses in Germany being unused as they'd rather have no protection, than some protection. Which would be fair enough if they hadn't tried to trash the good Friday agreement to prevent vaccines leaving the EU that that don't seem to want to use but don't want others to have them.

Did this person meet their daughter in a park during lockdown? If they weren’t part of a bubble then they broke the law.
Just think on this, China were the first country to have this disease and have managed to pretty much eradicate it. Do you think they had ambiguity with their lockdown rules? All we needed to do to eradicate this in the UK was to stay away from other people for 2 weeks FFS Removed

If you have had Covid or are low risk, then there no reason at all to have the vaccine. The vaccine doesn't stop you from getting the virus, nor does it stop you from being contagious. People are forgetting that this 'vaccine' is still experimental, and the people are the real guinea pigs! The vaccine has not passed approval for usage, because it was not fully tested on animals first.
Removed
Did you get a knock to the head when you were younger? Is that what causes the addiction to conspiracy theories?
Umm ... the vaccine HAS passed approval for usage (well, several of the various anti-Covid vaccines have) ... but you're right that testing has been well short of what normally takes place prior to approval & that the current deployment is an unregulated experiment.

It’s called great for a reason, Great Britain will come out of this pandemic successful with its new found independence!
Yet the eu27 don't have any more troubles than uk has
Rates are coming down, restrictions in place, schools are open, more people have had full vaccination (2 doses), people wear masks, Brits aren't welcome, no issues with imports and exports
Not sure why what is & isn't happening in eu27 is your concern.
Haven't you learnt blame deflection doesn't work even for small minded little englanders

Can people just follow the rules and then get vaccinated when its their turn. Lockdown is awful and many are getting fed up but if we try to bend the rules now the Government will be more than happy to extend lockdown especially if they can blame ordinary people.
"Stop going tescos 4-5 times a week" - 4-5 times a week WITH a mask on and social distancing is OK by me.
However I see plenty of people who won't wear masks in shops. They are always groups of 20-30 year old men wearing bright orange jackets, steel toecapped boots and usually have white vans with tools in them.
They think they are invincible and don't usually think about their elderly relatives.

No, these people are the reason why infection rates are still going up in some areas, they're not "freedom fighters", they're behaving in a stupid and selfish manner. And to compare them to the people who defied Hitler one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever read, you should be ashamed of yourself.
The areas that still have exceptionally high rates of infections have something in common! The liberal narrative is they’re ‘disadvantaged’, multigenerational households. Look at the areas & see if you can spot anything else they have in common? The reality is, there are certain groups who just don’t follow the hand washing & social distancing guidelines. They have no respect for the wider society

Just so wrong it's risible and unworthy of a reasoned response.
Right..... How many did the Spanish flu kill?
I beg to differ. I have fell ill with both flu and Covid-19 and I can safely say Covid-19 was much worse. With flu I was back to my usual self after 2 weeks, with Covid-19 it was 2 months. Breathing was especially difficult with Covid-19. I'd happily have the flu instead of Covid-19.

According to your graph R is now as it was early summer 2020 when restrictions were being lifted.
Now we have mass vaccination underway, better clinical solutions and an economy being trashed.
But ongoing draconian restrictions will remain till late May,
Anyone who thinks this is just about a virus which has a mortality rate of <.09% is deluded and gullible.
Who is really pulling the strings?

The gov must know many people go to work now because they HAVE to and many people clog the roads as they have furlough and CAN?
Something we should have done and still can - give every adult £1000 (no exceptions) and shut the country down for 2 months. Stay home or be fined, no nonsense.
We would do this as everyone is treated equally,it may reduce numbers more than anything tried before.

Van Tam is the new harbinger of doom...do these people not realise the side effects of effectively being imprisoned in your own home for months on end without proper human contact?? I've left the house/ neighbourhood twice in the last 10 weeks and I've done that to protect as best I can my mental health. Now I have another 5 weeks to look forward to before the current prison sentence may end.
Regulate the handouts better. Why would people want it to end when you can get a load of free money and still work. For years people have moaned about benefit scroungers. This is different level.

Absolute no racism intended but week after week high cases in areas that are predominantly and I mean over 90% Asian in our town are keeping the rate in our town above average. You see the colours on the gov.uk map, usually in purple or at best dark blue surrounded by light blue and green. And in the local paper this week a wedding stopped at an Asian restaurant.

If hat mancock's praise was money everyone in the nhs, bar doctors (they do very nicely look up clinical excellence awards), would not need a pay rise. This year sees the end of the meagre 3 year pay deal, "R and R" will not pay the bills, staff are going to loose untaken holiday in April and it was those staff, admin, clerical, technical, ancillary as well as the obvious who kept him his job.

Agree 100% .Vaccination is a choice , it is a Medical intervention- we have democratic rights as humans to say Yes or No,no one can force it upon another. This Covid “vaccine is one of the fastest ever manufactured in such a short time frame&has bypassed many standard safety tests in order to be approved on an ‘emergency’ basis.Be a critical thinker, ask ?’s ,assess the for ‘& ‘against’.

UK trying to run before it can walk , no patience whatsoever. Everyone should stay in lockdown until everyone has had both vaccinations ,otherwise what's the point. But no the government roll over for societies pressure. Ridiculous
This covid experience has shown the UK's true colours, I came back here after 15 years away and thankfully I will be going back to live in a country where people actually care about others and not just themselves. Nothing Great about this little island either than the Great mess its in, an absolute joke.
i love listening to vax metal - it is the future; it is contagious; it is catchy stuff; gets the heart pumping; the toes tapping; the head banging; makes you sweat; makes you tremble; makes for a great for a party; very affecting, life consuming. I will continue wearing a mask wherever I go - the vax is not a 100% cure all, fix all, secure all. Wake up, dozy britain.

Covid was around a long time before they said it was. Many would have died Dec 2019 Jan 20 feb 20 and be put down as anything but Covid, probably flu.
We aren't ahead, our death-toll is hugely higher, and only made better progress because were in worse shape. It's sad the government have taken all the glory for the vaccine, because a) everything else has been a disaster, and they needed something successful to grab onto, b) all the hard work was due to NHS.

Off topic, but arguably 50% target for uni admiss what killed uni educ.
Unis were more restricted (to 5-10%), but a lot more affordable to poor/working class students and broadly produced the skills required.
Now have wider standards, and leave students with an ave £40k debt, some lucky to secure near min wage job. A debt/income ratio so poor govt figures suggest only 25% will fully repay loans.
