Why misfiring McIlroy needs Sunshine State swing

Rory McIlroy missed the cut last week for the first time in 30 PGA Tour events but while underlying statistics suggest a deterioration in form, here's why the Florida-swing offers cause for optimism.

Watching him go from the bunker to the water in the last Ryder cup was superb. Fantastic Viewing.

There is so much money in golf for not winning are we surprised when not winning makes a nice career. RM doesn't need to win a major he can play the tours finish around the top ten and with endorsements be made for life. With so many tournaments the 'majors' simply don't mean as much anymore. It's another reason that golf is in decline.

I disagree. It's a tiny % of players that earn significant sums from golf, the majority make a living like the rest of us in our everyday careers. The fact that he's won majors is the reason why he has the endorsements he has.

Many amateurs on here seem to be able to analyse and dissect his game and mindset, 'hopeless with his short irons', 'can't putt', 'has pockets full of money and no desire', 'crumbles under pressure'. Only Rory knows what's happening and may not even know why, not too dissimilar to the days we have out on the course. He's played some amazing golf, won majors, has hit a bad patch. He'll bounce back.

Maybe a phone call to Butch or Claude Harmon might do the trick.

Ridiculous comment. He's won more than most out there right now, most pro golfers would love to win what RM has.

Would love to win a fraction of what he's won, and have his endorsements.

Who cares? Overrated and overpaid. Long may his poor form continue.

McIlroy's problem is his ego. The bloke 'reeks of self importance'.

Ok, if you say so. There’s one or two football players that are egotistical in their behaviour and questionable in their moral compass.

And when a HYS comes up about footballers who can't buy a win, you can copy and paste your comment in there ??

He won’t win another Major. Has lost it in his head.

Looks like Woods is having another car related episode - what will the cause be?

Major smash, rolled it and no front end on his car, in surgery for leg injuries. Let’s hope he recovers quickly.

Golf seems very unimportant when news like this breaks. I just hope that he makes a good recovery from what appears to have been a very nasty crash.

He's hardly on life support is he? Talk about an OTT reaction. In terms of day to day normal life he should recover fine.
We've seen the last of him as a professional golfer, though that's probably not a bad thing.
Thankfully nobody else was involved.

An OTT reaction hoping this accident ends his golfing career. Good to see we have TW’s surgeon on here giving their medical prognosis of his injuries and future state.
