Unlikely, given that the coronavirus was spreading very fast during February last year. It is true that the virus comes and goes in waves because what goes up has to come down again eventually. It declines of course because humans respond either by increasing social distancing or by recovering and developing antibodies and T-cells.

You are correct but there does seem to be a risk that they will win in May. If they do, it sends a very negative message to the rest of the UK from Scotland, as the "we are better off without you" message is maintained. The economic damage in Scotland from lockdown is going to be harsher due to a more penal lockdown, with a smaller private sector, so the financial black hole in Scotland will grow.

NHS advice is that a flu vaccination is still worth getting up to the end of March, so the "season" is not finished. Besides, you only have to look at the number of deaths over and above the normal for winter to see how badly the vaccines were needed and how well the NHS and government (at all levels) have done to get people protected. Essential that older age groups get boosters within 12 weeks.

Great news, as are the findings in Israel that the vaccine is disrupting transmission.

So by getting jabbed you are less likely to go to hospital (and put pressure on the NHS) and pass it on to someone else.

As someone who would normally be doing a full-body workout 3 or 4 times in the gym every week, I cannot find anything within the current guidelines that comes anywhere near being an adequate substitue. Keen swimmers will tell you the same. We need sports centres open again, especially given the lack of evidence of transmission there last summer and atumn.

Good news in relation to effectiveness of vaccines. Johnson just delivered an upbeat and fairly detailed road map for England. Giving real hope. Even international travel could restart mid may. What will we get up here? Sturgeon saying not quite yet... extended lockdown and restrictions. Our vital tourism and hospitality sectors destroyed. The public in Scotland aren’t daft first minister.

Something different from the Socialist National Party - anything to be different, just different so she can claim to be ... err ... somehow relevant when she is not ?

This will be hard for Ms Sturgeon to come to terms with her iron grip on what we do and when we do it will be hard for her to even think of letting go of. She will string this out as long as she possibly can and will leave Scottish business swinging in the wind for yet longer. Removed

Great news. Given that the vast majority of admissions are elderly, lets review the SNP's vaccination roll-out which resulted in less than 36,000 over 80s being vaccinated in the first 6 weeks of the vaccination programme. Vaccine uptake levels have already made it clear that the Anti Vaxx movement is the new People's Front of Judea - very few of them, totally off the wall but somehow able to gain far more publicity than they deserve. Media - hang your heads. One of many joys of a vaccine passport would be seeing these people faced with the choice between a needle and having to stay out of planes, cinemas, pubs etc.

WM's roadmap is clear and cautious, and the 5 wk break between decision making makes scientific sense. Any differences the SG comes up with today will just be for the sake of it, and I will be ignoring.

My prediction: SG will use regional tiers as an excuse to keep people from England traveling to Scotland in the late Spring/summer (as well as people in Scotland from travelling south). Let's see
