We know things must be going well when even pessimist Neil Ferguson seems optimistic.
Pessimist ? Idiot, more like. A year ago, he said that the vulnerable should be ‘shielded’ ( unsure as to how long for !) whilst the country kept as normal to achieve ‘herd immunity’. His opinion, which he subsequently changed, was responsible for 1/4m turning up for Cheltenham races over 4 days from all parts of the UK. Then he breaks lockdown rules visiting his girlfriend. Should be sacked. Removed

Prof Ferguson mentioned in an article = made up numbers, pure guess work

In 2009, His predictions on swine flu estimated that 65000 could die UK. swine flu killed 457 UK

In 2002, He predicted that between 50-50,000 UK people would likely die from exposure to BSE. 177 UK deaths from BSE to date.

Bbc silencing anyone not on the Tory page. The fall is good news, but it’s higher than when Johnson was told lockdown was essential (before dithering for a month!) and the hospital occupancy is higher than during the whole of the first wave.

My worry is to take the heat off himself, Hancock and Patel, he will do a Cummings and ease too early again and all our hard work will be for nothing

Chris Whitty needs to shut up. As the Govt is planning to reopen all schools on 8th March, allegedly he isn't happy. A good point made on Radio 4 just now was that schools were open for nearly 4 months without a spike resulting. Reopening schools asap is vital, low risk (elderly and vulnerable have been vaccinated) so we now need to put our children first. This is practically zero risk for them.

Covid will be around for many years to come, so people who have refused a jab will find they loose their jobs, particularly those involved in dealing with or looking after people with health issues e.g. it will become mandatory for everyone who works for the NHS, care homes, healthcare to be inoculated on a regular basis. Companies may follow suite to safeguard their workforce from a selfish few.

The vaccine should be compulsory for travel on public transport, using public facilities like libraries, sports halls, pubs, restaurants etc.
