The data from Israel is nothing short of miraculous. Of the 500k odd fully vaccinated there, only 500 or so tested positive, four of which had severe symptoms and none of them died. Four months ago people were seriously questioning whether we'd ever have a vaccine, and now we've multiple effective ones. They are the way out.

Israel's methods of recording health data means it can track vaccinations and review data fast. They are a test case for the rest of us. The AZ vaccine is less effective against the SA variant but effective on the dominant UK variant and doing its job. The EU aren't giving it to over 65's only because they weren't included in the original trials. If you're going to comment, do your homework.

WHY? Virus mutate which means that the effectiveness of any vaccine will vary depending on which variant you encounter. @"not to the AZ until it gets updated"
--

While it might not do much for the SA variant, it does work very effectively on the variants that are currently in ciruclation in the UK. So there is every sensible reason to still take it in its current form at the current time.

You can always have another jab later. The more the merrier to give broader protection.

The UK strategy of delaying the second jab is working. It means that twice as many folk can get the first jab early.

No the EU said that they were unhappy that the AZ had not done any significant trials with over 55s and therefore there was an element of doubt expressed by EU medical approvals organisation over it's effectiveness in this age group. Not just WORK, even though a lot of older people DO work.... Contributions from spending, VAT, Council Tax & more. Do try to be a bit more circumspect, before posting twaddle.
Did they test the over 80-s blood for a virulent strain of far-right nationalism? That has caused the UK far more long term damage than COVID ever will

The Tories have a dilemma here: On the one hand they are desperate for this noxious demographic to survive as long as possible to deliver them the votes they need. On the other hand, bequests are the largest source of funding for the Nasty Party

It seems to go from good news day to couple of bad news days, them an article of hope followed by more of dismay. It's all about psychological control and most people are being easily influenced by it but have no idea they are.
Easiest way to control someone? Fear....scare someone and they will do anything. Do you realise a law has been passed that means it's illegal to hug your mum? All because old people are dying of a virus. Old people die all the time, if covid does t get ya....old age will...go figure. Removed

Firstly thanks for informing everyone that there is no vaccine - I bet the scientists, immunologists and others who are insisting this is a vaccine will be beating a path to your door for your in depth research findings. No vaccine is a cure, they are a preventative exactly the same as a flu jab is not a cure. No vaccine is 100% effective either, but it often diminishes the symptoms.

Twaddle, on many bases. Here's one. How many viruses can we 'cure'? Clue: less than one. You don't 'cure' viruses. You can eradicate them with a major global effort. Only ever eradicated TWO (Smallpox & Rinderpest). But the normal route is to TREAT viruses with vaccines & for that to be successful, you need a certain quorum of uptake.
