Christian Benteke's late goal gives Crystal Palace a dramatic Premier League win at rivals Brighton, who are now in threat of being drawn into a relegation battle.
Defended well and i strangely have to agree with you to my despair ??
,........which match were you watching ???
lol
You are on the wind up surely. Have you seen the shot count and possession stats. You can’t have watched the game if you are serious.
Its not a derby.
It's a manufactured rivalry between too clubs who decided to make one because they were too small and irrelevant to have an actual derby with any of the bigger, relevant clubs near them.

Most underserved victory I have EVER seen! Clearly a Palace supporter or a troll.
I have to say that Palace are in disarray. An average age of 30, 12+ players out of contract this summer and limited resources, they will be one of the favourites to get relegated next season. I like what Potter has done with Brighton, 3+ decent signings in the summer and they will pushing top 10 next season. Most undeserved victory I have ever seen!
They'll be relegated because they have very weak attacking players. None of the strikers are good enough. Maupay too weak, Welbeck old, Connolly not good enough, Zeqiri still young. Need to bring in a proven premier striker but too late now. Back to the championship
Why don’t you worry about your own team.
And that's off a sly fox ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Funny position in the league to be in disarray. Palace reserves beat their biggest rivals? Gorgeous
"12+players out of contract"
Another avid Daily Testicle believer!
Another avid Daily Testicle believer!
Powderpuff attack or what?! Brighton dominated Palace with 20 shots to 1 and drew 1-1 at Selhurst in Oct. Tonight it’s 25 shots to 3 and we lose. Pretty football, pretty pathetic finishing!
Goes to show how inaccurate BHA are. Or am I wrong?
It was never in doubt - we just score when we feel like it ;-) ????
But is it that pretty? If you analyse each and every pass, you see that most of the passing is very safe, but when the 'killer' ball needs to be played it misses the target. If it does get to the target the forward then fluffs his chances. Maupay is rubbish. Welbeck is past past it.
Your best player was Dan Burn, although he should have been sent off for that deliberate hand ball (2nd yellow).
Your best player was Dan Burn, although he should have been sent off for that deliberate hand ball (2nd yellow).
How on Earth did that just happen????
I know, I can't believe Benteke scored either.
Wow what a game! Palace deserved it though with their superior possession, shots and corners.
I suppose next you'll be saying Brighton deserved to win because they conceded more goals.
Just sat that your happy not be be a Chester fan! I am, so know that.
Never in doubt. Beautiful game management from the mighty Palace ;-)
Strange. Most Brighton fans have been giving it large all season “we are on the cusp of greatness” being one of the more amusing comments
Just say congrats Palace!
Oh well Brighton if you don’t take your chances you get punished so don’t deserve to win
Doesn't seem fair that the team without the ball wins the game, guess Palace like Burnley will be sapping the life out of the PL again next season
What an imbecilic comment. There is a limited resource pool of money and talent, so not all teams will consist of superstars. You have to give credit to the teams on a shoestring who survive in Europe's top leagues.
And BTW, football is won by the team who scores the most goals, not the team who keeps the ball for the longest. Why are you are surprised by this established dynamic?
Eagles soar!

Palace were without the ball because it spent a lot of the game in the opponents' net.
A travesty for football. Congratulations to Palace but you were not in the same league as your opponents tonight!
Nonsense. Brighton too busy fouling, diving, moaning whilst Palace were conservative & scored when they needed to. Job done, thanks for the 3 points :-)
In what way? The team that scored the most goals won the match. Good grief...
Wow what a game between Brighton and Crystal Palace! It was end to end stuff and it's no wonder it's the best league in the world. Hope these two teams give Man Utd a right thrashing!
Palace already have done at Old Trafford
Er, we stuffed United at Old Trafford. You were saying?? ????
Benteke, I always knew Big Ben would come good when it mattered !!!!
Brighton you can have the ball all night but if you cannot score so what !!!
Super Palace !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brighton you can have the ball all night but if you cannot score so what !!!
Super Palace !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an absolute steal from Crystal Palace! But some of them chances brighton had to kill the game, lallana's second chance where he skies it, gotta be doing better there!
Bissouma is a class player, so calm on the ball
Bissouma is a class player, so calm on the ball
If Bissouma is so good how come he didn't score any goals?
The very epitome of smash and grab. Palace even more efficient than West Ham vs tottingham. As spuds will tell you, if you don’t put the ball in the net, it doesn’t matter how many shots or how much possession you have.
Come on.. Don't comper the spuds buss with a top 4 team. You know, the best team in London. WEST HAM!
Hateful, tedious, boring hoofball, then the ultimate travesty that Palace actually win it. No one wants to watch this bs.
I dont like to blame individuals but Maupey is not doing it did he actually have a shot on target he is our centre forward and our right back Veltman is having more shots at goal than Maupey and when he did shoot there was nothing in them.
Maupay is championship fodder only. A small gust of wind would knock him over. Really poor.
These PL teams buy the Championship's top scorers, expecting them to do the same in the PL & fans complain when they don't. Why would you expect Neal to score the same amount of goals he did at Brentford? Brighton don't play the same way, nor do they have the players to feed Maupay the chances to score. Aside from Ollie Watkins, mostly it never works out.
Outstanding win for the Eagles over the Seagulls.
Alas the Eagkes squad is too old and there is an absence of flexible tactics.
How bad are Brightons strikers and attacking midfielders that they could not score with all that possession.

If I was a Palace fan I would be ecstatic and If was a Brighton fan I would wonder how this result was possible! As a neutral the entertainment was fun but the result was absurd.
I’m ecstatic. Defended for our lives and nicked the win. Perfect. Not our fault BHA can’t hit a barn door
The result came because of brilliant finishing by Crystal Palace. Brighton fizzled in front of goal despite having a multitude of opportunities. Even their one goal came from a fortuitous rebound..
Perhaps it was the one Palace just won mate ??
I never understand it when some of the posters on here cannot tell a wind up when they read
So frustrating being a Brighton fan. It's the same every week, need at least 20 chances just to get ONE goal. You'd think they would try to do something about it. Also annoyingly we just know that we will concede as soon as anyone actually runs at us. What was White thinking?! We're not as good as people think.
Not much you can say there. BHA excellent, but clearly a fundamental lack of ability in the final third. This last part of the season, i'd drop Maupay and Trossard completely and give Tau and Zeqiri the run to see if they can cut the mustard, as the regulars have to be traded in come May
Crystal Palace are a team I would love to see relegated
Another loss for Brighton, they'll defintely be getting relegated if they stick with Potter. You can play all the pretty football you like but at the end of the day you need points. Pulis is available and I think Brighton ought to get a move on.
What a travesty! I feel sorry for Brighton...crystal palace a waste of space in the league recently but credit where it's due, dug deep and got the 3 points ??
Brig***on 1 Palace Reserves 2 ... sometimes you just have to slug it out through an injury crisis, and nick gorgeous 94th minute winners ;-)
On the face of it, a hurtful defeat and an undeserved one. In practice, Palace are too well organised & BHA too good a football side to worry seriously about relegation.
Rivalries aside, CP will be much the happier, but I don't think BHA have anything to worry about; 18th is between NU & FUL now.
Rivalries aside, CP will be much the happier, but I don't think BHA have anything to worry about; 18th is between NU & FUL now.
So that one point ahead of Newcastle must seem giant to you then
Rivalries aside? I suspect they'll be the happier because they actually won the game
It was not undeserved as they scored the most goals and none were fluky.
Fulham supporter here. Apart from West Brom and Sheffield all the rest are too good to go down and a case to stay up for all the other teams. But one other will.
Don't rule out Leeds-falling like a stone and can't defend!
I mean no disrespect but I'd rather see a big team in the PL like Fulham, Newcastle and West Brom than BHA! I still think BHA will survive though. Wonderful young talent and a decent manager.
Pathetic. How can the Albion claim to have strikers with such a consistently poor shot conversion rate? And then Palace have two shots on goal and score both.
Veltman at 900k is proving to be one of the best buys BHA have made Grealish did not get cold last Saturday as he was in Veltmans pocket for the whole game and for me MOTM tonight.
He has been excellent.
Veltman got a fluky goal from an unlucky Palace deflection. Well taken shot though but those two brilliant Crystal Palace goals deserved the win
As a Palace fan I agree. I must say Brighton have got themselves a good scouting department. Veltman played with Reidewald at Ajax. £900k was a steal
Grealish has been superb this season, best attacking English player in the league but the last few games before the Injury was revealed he hadn't looked his usual self, his performances had dropped I wonder if he'd been carrying it for a while but Via were obviously reluctant to rest him?
,........which match were you watching ???
Funny old game, football.
From a neutral's perspective, on that showing, which team would you rather go down?
For me, without a shadow of a doubt, Crystal Palace.

More to the point is which team do you think will go down.
Unfortunately, not many sides play like Leeds.

Rubbish. A team defends heroically and then has the character to nick a 94th minute winner ..... beautiful

One of these days the media will realise that possession without goals is a waste of time. Three shots and two goals. That's what counts not 20 shots off target.
Palace were pants and don't deserve to be in the Premier league
Your own fan said you were played off the pitch, and stats confirm it. Trump ma be with you though!
Have long argued that point, you can have all the possession, all game but in the end, if the opposition only has one chance but scores, then that's all that matters.
You don't end up any higher up the table or safe from relegation just because you have more of the ball
You don't end up any higher up the table or safe from relegation just because you have more of the ball
Don't think that many people who go on about possession ever paid any attention to what Fergie did.
United actually rarely dominated the ball at any time, they just killed you instantly when they got it. If they had 65% you lost 6-0.
About the only time he went possession based was when he had veron and ruud and they looked brilliant but hardly won anything.

Err.. generally only get those shots when you have, hmm.. what could it be?? ..Possession! So a team had a lot and did nothing with it. We should be happy to have a sport with such high contrast.
That makes no sense. If the strikers convert created chances, whoever creates most wins.
It's about taking chances created and teams who can create most should win
It's about taking chances created and teams who can create most should win
Agreed. My Reading team under jaap stam few years ago played the possession game. It was so boring. We played Leeds away and had 82% possession but has zero shots i think and lost 2 nil
Hopefully some managers will realise this as well.
Fact is you will win far more matches off 75% possession than you will lose. Palace got lucky, take the points and run, but hodgson won’t want to see those stats every match.
Seems to be a strange correlation between what the media say and what bookies want you to bet on, all we hear is, shots on goal, corners, bookings, most fouls, not sure why a commentator needs to tell me “Liverpool average 8 corners a game” WHATS YOUR POINT MAN! Someone must be pushing this stat based drivel
Roy Hodgson is quite right in saying that we have become obsessed with stats. How we sighed back in the day at yet another 'Motty stat'. Yet, how good were they? It was always something fascinating like unbeaten runs, milestones etc. I'm starting to think that the man in the sheepskin went underappreciated. What's 'XG' all about? It just destroys the intrigue of the game. I mean come on.
Yep, M City were the same all that possession against the Gooners and only scored 1 goal !! lol
Fully deserved. If you can't score you deserve nothing.
Potter is miles out of his depth.
Potter is miles out of his depth.
Your footballing brain is that of a 3 year old.
It was indeed. Palace are a woeful team. They were unbelievably lucky tonight.
There's a lot of stupid comments on here, but that one might be the pinnacle. Waiting for the schools to go back, clearly.
You’ve not been near a Palace Brighton game have you??
You are on the wind up surely. Have you seen the shot count and possession stats. You can’t have watched the game if you are serious.
Unbelievable score. Glad I don’t support Palace though. No ambition whatsoever and awful to watch.
Yes Winnie, just think how good Palace would be if they weren't crap! Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not really. Just trying to survive an injury crisis. On their day one of the best counter attacking teams in the league
You’re lucky, you don’t have to watch it, but I do!
But sometimes pretty football doesn’t always get results as Brighton are finding out. Fulham too play some good football.
But sometimes pretty football doesn’t always get results as Brighton are finding out. Fulham too play some good football.
2 poor sides playing out a poor game. Reminiscent of a WSL game. It's probably time the Premier League was reduced to 16 teams so teams such as these would have to employ better players to remain at this level. Utter bore fest ??
Couldn’t agree more in first half about 80% of passes were made in teams own half. Tickey tacky pass it backy football is dire
I presume you support a team in the top six? (Or one that’s not in a relegation fight)
If not your comment is even more pathetic
Why don’t we cut it down to 10 teams and sod everyone else.
The best thing to do would be to make every club spend the same on transfers and wages and see how some of these bigger clubs/managers cope.
You’re a football snob of the highest order
Love real football fan

The Premiership
Palace clearly second best. 90 minutes of taking it like a b**** bookended by two superb goals.
3 points stolen & they will be laughing all the way back up the M23.
Worrying times for Palace though. Big changes needed for next season..

To build a team capable of playing open in this league takes a lot of money, a lot of luck, &/or the voodoo Moyes pulled out this past year. Otherwise you find yourself where Fulham are.
Brighton and Hove Albion 1 Crystal Palace 2
Brighton clearly second best at the objective of the game.

You are good enough or not how Leicester won league. Brighton were dismal in front of goal. All week and would not have won. Wall fan.

He happens to be a midfielder, not an attacking midfielder either and its Maupay, Trossard, Welbeck, MacAllister that should be scoring the goals
Defensive midfielder? Not really his role to score goals. If the Palace keeper is so good how comes he didn't score any goals?
I mean no disrespect but I'd rather see a big team in the PL like Fulham, Newcastle and West Brom than BHA! I still think BHA will survive though. Wonderful young talent and a decent manager.
Crystal Palace, prematurely ageing me since my first game in 1971 - but god, I wouldn't have them any other way...
Yep that is what it is to be a Cpfc supporter. I have been supporting them since the 70s, and have had to have counselling ever since. ?? ?? ?? ??
What's is it with Brighton and Leeds with all these shots on target and not gaining nothing meanwhile palace and west ham do teams in with 3 to 4 shots on target.
As there are no extra points for domination or possession, Graham Potter needs to do some thinking...
But maybe their fans turn up without a sick feeling of impending boredom every home game.
Brighton produce plenty of chances, typically more than their opponents in every match. They can just never convert them. On that basis, it's much less about Graham Potter and more about the players actually finishing these chances.
Just as palace did at newcastle a few weeks ago. Completely outplayed but sneaked a 2 -1 win . They should be safe now. Brighton deep in trouble along with a few others
I mean no disrespect but I'd rather see a big team in the PL like Fulham, Newcastle and West Brom than BHA! I still think BHA will survive though. Wonderful young talent and a decent manager.
Hard to take a defeat like that, when we're so dominant and can't even draw. Can't remember ever seeing such overwhelming stats - except the one that matters.
We had Ashworth at Cambridge United years ago - he realised he could make a useful career by setting himself up as some sort of footballing messiah with a masterclass of talking a great game whilst taking credit for success and deflecting blame to others.
Good luck to Brighton with him around, they’ll need it.

Palace fan here, Brighton played us off the park home and away and should have got all 6 points. Anyone that watched both games and comes to another conclusion is lying. Wont be easy to pick themselves up from that but I think Newcastle have bigger problems.
Npoe did not play us off the park at home we was the better team but you know what the most interesting thing all that ball and can't put it in the net ?????????????? I'll take 1_2
It’s no good playing a team off ghe park and losing. Palace fan here too and I haven’t laughed so much for years. Gorgeous result against niggly, nasty Br***on
But 25 shots and only 5 on target suggests Brighton have a problem.
Palace 2 out of 3 on target...
Palace 2 out of 3 on target...
When Benteke is named 'Man of the match' and actually scores a goal against you then you know you have problems.
There’s something not adding up about the media love-in with Brighton. You’d think they were the model for all clubs and the epitome of Ajax circa 1995, but are in fact a wafer thin margin from relegation and no better off than they were three years ago.
Just another result-based football fan.
I asked a while back how the mercurial Potter had taken BHA forwards from the Hughton ERA (at the time they were 17th so they're one better now) and was told how amazing he was but this seems to be a team as much at risk of relegation as Newcastle and Fulham.
Thank God the schools are due to go back, time for some education.
Got to say I hope Palace go down after that smash and grab and I don't support Brighton. That has to be the most undeserved 3 points this season without a doubt
How can you say it's undeserved, 100% conversion rate for shots, that's all that matters,COYP
Nonsense, defended brilliantly and nicked it in the last minute - fantastic game management against nasty, niggly, divey Bri**on

How on Earth did that just happen????
If Brighton are so great how come they lost ?? Look at how many points Palace have ?? similar amount to Wolves / Leeds / Southampton, and at various points of the seasons people have banged on about these teams, Palace never get the credit they deserve, fantastic performance tonight and two class goals, Job done !!!
Spot on - defended like lions and 94th minute winner against the Weed - beautiful!!
‘Fantastic performance’ ??
Clueless Knighton Palace
Palace were shocking for the entire game.
Brighton embarrassed them in every way. Just because u win doesn’t mean u gave a good performance. It was so one sided that even the commentators were speechless @ the final whistle at how they managed to win.
I give credit where it’s due and the two Palace goals were class, but the performance = poor

Big rebuilding job for Palace in the summer, clear some of the old guard and bring some fresh talent to compliment Eze, as for Brighton, what can you say, lots of possession but that’s all.
If Bissouma is so good how come he didn't score any goals?
Fully deserved. If you can't score you deserve nothing.

I totally agree, too many so called 'football supporters' are result based, not willing to look at the bigger picture.
'da' made a comment which points out that possession without an end result is pointless (in this case literally).
It's great to watch exciting play, but if the team doesn't score, it will be pretty football in the Championship.
Staying in the PL is financially imperative, for most teams and the Championship isn't an easy league to win.

As a very long time Palace fan, hate watching the rubbish we play week in week out, it is disgraceful, got one of the most exciting attacking midfielders ever at palace, and he spent most of his time as a holding midfielder, feel sorry for brighton (not) still have no idea how we nicked that but we did EAGLES EAGLES
In Palace and Newcastle we have some of the most gifted attacking talent in the league but two of the most useless, uninspiring and pointless managers in the league (although credit to Roy for actually doing ok with Switzerland and Inter in the 90s when his style was relevant).
And, by the way, can we get a proper pundit commenting during the game?
Come on BBC, forget this "woke and equality" crap. There are enough decent male football pundits out there without having to resort to Ms Carney. Leave her to pass comment on girly football!

I will be reporting you. No room for sexism. Women's football have male managers and pundits, no reason that he men's game can have women pundits. In fact one the best line officials in the premiership is Massey who is female.
Weird way to announce that you're a virgin.
Correct but mods will get rid of that v soon

Can we just take a minute to appreciate JPs goal, what a finish!!
Brilliant goal, lost on here.
Crystal Palace are a team I would love to see relegated
Brighton dominated. Will give them that but you need to take your chances. You can play the prettiest football all the time but no good without scoring.
In saying all this as a Palace fan , I would still like to see a new manager with a more positive attitude and I would like the board to put their hands in their pockets in the summer to freshen up my team.
its too scary to watch every week.

Absolutely right, Parish and co have a big job in the summer.
Agreed Board is going to have to refresh big time or next season will be our last in PL. Brighton still can’t beat us though
Palace fan for 60 years. And every year it's scary.
Nonsense, result never in doubt ;-)
Smash and grab.
Albion deserve what they get. Front players are not good enough to convert chances created. Same old issue all season. Potter thought he could improve the forwards to get goals but has not done so.
Potter record v palace is poor. Back in trouble now.

For Pete's sake Potter. You've hot a team playing great football but start Welbeck and Llalana (when fit) u need goals. With the football you play u shud be up there with West Ham . To be fair mate the BBC are quite consistent with pundits, male or female they are equally as poor as each other
Spot on with her prediction that Palace could grab it at the death though wasn't she? The truth is she is no worse than any other thicko ex footballer with incorrect and ill informed views but she gets more stick for it. She's also new(ish) whereas McManaman, Jenas and Redknapp have been spouting tripe for a good few years that we're now immune to it. In time Carney will go the same way.
What constitutes as 'proper'?
Football is often a cruel game but to win games you have to be more clinical in front of goal and take your chances
Brighton remind me of Fulham play decent enough football, draw to many games and have a had a few unfair results but come the end of the season will probably be ok just about
Gonna be tight
