Someone (Ian Botham i think) said years ago.

"Do away with the toss, give the touring team the choice every game, you will soon get pitches that don't play to the strengths of the home team"
what rubbish..english entitlement and Botham was the king of it. Removed
This third umpire is taking home a tidy brown envelope. Job done fella..... & as for the pitch suitability... lols. Removed

I've lost count of the number of full tosses Moeen has bowled. Perhaps it's a bit harsh because he hasn't played but he has to improve. It is a difficult pitch for the batsmen against good bowlers - let's hope they can improve in the 2nd innings.

Big questions being raised about the umpires. 3 clear moments of cheating by the Indian officials. The pitch is what is it, get in and play. But these Indian umpires, cheats Removed
Is there a quota which comment moderators must reach to get paid?

No not at all, but thy certainly have to come from a small minded group who wish to impose restrictions on 'the freedom of speech' of the majority. Most of the senior management at the BBC are of this stereotype and of course recruit like 'soles'
Stop complaining you whinging poms. It’s home advantage. Are England going to prepare tank turners when in india come here.... No. stop complaining and start applying better. England did that in the 1st test and india didn’t that’s why they won.
The toss was key in both tests. And Indian 2nd innings is not played in a different pitch. Get on with it idiots

Not just winning the toss decides matches. Sandpaper and scuffing out the batsman's guard also helps.
All Indian umpires are incompetent and subject to dishonesty when India play. They will always cheat and take back ganders to ensure India get over the line. This is why you need neutral umpires. Removed

Agree umpires should be neutral
But England are getting schooled

Played some poor cricket all round
I'll make it very simple for all the Indian fans defending the pitch, umpiring, Kohli's refusal to walk etc.

Indue earned a huge amount of respect across the cricketing world for their magnificent, gutsy win in Australia.

They have earned none for this Test.

Clear for you all?

India have been the better team on a terrible pitch.
England have been spineless, shocking batting performance, apart from Foakes no one put a price on their wicket!

is that clear enough for you?

England won no respect for either test. Clear for you??

How dare India prepare a wicket to suit spin condition. England is visiting so they need 5inch grass and cloud cover. Anything else is sub standard & cheating. What rule says it can't spin from 1st hour of Day 1. What next these Whingers will request ICC to ban spin?Feeling is mutual with umpires, India don't trust England umpires. Everyone saw WC finals !! Eng is a good side and they can do well.

You’d be wrong on that then....funny how there are no complaints when England got the better of conditions

No doubt you and all the others were too busy telling us how such a. World class team England were. The reality is it’s just been joe root batting and the opposition throwing wickets away...that was the 1st test, and a lot of the last series

India are 54/1 now, no excuses
So the two wickets Anderson got with perfect reverse in swinging deliveries were India throwing wickets away? Also you must have missed sibleys and stokes innings in the first test.
Maybe actually watch the games before you comment and make yourself look like an idiot

Just read Jonathan Agnew's column and what a moaning git Aggers has become. Pitch may not be great but both teams need to get on with it. Aggers says he has criticised other 'suspect' pitches but I can't recall full page critical assessment of a pitch at Headingly, The Oval, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge etc.

Is this simply a case of sour grapes?

Mark Waugh must have sour grapes too.

I'm ok with groundsmen preparing a wicket to suit the home team, it happens everywhere.

In an ideal world we would get a 5 test series with 5 different wickets, and mixed weather patterns, all ending in the last session on day 5.

Shangri-la

That is fair comment but the pitch has been prepared to favour a facet of the game in which India are substantially better. The issue is more that it started breaking up on the first day. Surely, by now there should be some sort of worldwide sanction on this, particularly if meant impeding progression to the final of the much-vaunted yet unclear world Test Championship.

One simple question; do you think that the wicket is suitable for test match cricket?
The Indians have made better use of it, but that is irrelevant. The wicket would have been totally unplayable by day 5. 'Would have' because it will finish in day 4 at the latest.
The wicket is unfit for purpose.

Being in my mid 60s . I have a good memory of what test cricket is , and should be contested over 4 or 5 days , not who wins the toss , after years of having to pay for cricket ,this really is putting the whole what the test cricket bible is all about ,the story ,the could have ,we nearly did ,we have a new audience out there ,unfortunately, money talks and the real game will suffer

Such a lot of cry babies. Makes me ashamed to be an Englishman. All cheers and bonhomie after their win in the first test and all tears and cries of unfairness after getting wallopped in the second. Typical England.

India are a far superior team? We won the first test match in style and when India toured England in 2018 I don't recall India winning a test match, all I recall was a fantastic whitewash with Ali Cook scoring 149
( alongside Joe Root who scored around 120 ) on his last ever test match for England

What utter rubbish. Greentops. Go on 'You Tube' and look at the colour of pitches in England home Tests and see how many are green, none. Anderson is a swing bowler and if you knew anything about cricket, you would know that it is done through the air and nothing to do with pitches. You should do some research.

3 question which English fans should be questioning
1. Why Ben Foakes is up on wicket when Board bowls to Ashwin
2. Why root bowled more than Board in 2nd innings
3. This awful rotation policy resulting in Anderson out.

Does any one of these make sense, sounds all of this was done to do India a favor.
