79:50 in the clock, 5 points ahead, Wales on possession.......random punt forward to concede possession to Ireland.

Complete lack of understanding of the match situation.

Hilarious how professional players don’t get it. They weren’t always professional either but how can you not realise possession means a finish that doesn’t hide an appalling welsh team . Bring back selection process which includes all first class players . Not just provincial. How many kicks in the game . Thankfully we didn’t have to pay and watch that drivel

Wales have form doing this- Priestland kicked the ball in field with Wales leading with seconds to go against Australia, who went 2/3 of the length of the field to score and win the match. Ryan Jones the Welsh captain that day shouted "Oh no, not that" (without even a swear word) just under where I was sitting.

Gatland would have pulled him off right there at the end to prove that point too!

Sit on the sidelines for the Scotland game so that he NEVER does that again!

I agree . An appalling display from Barnes. I was fed up of all his chatting. I wish he would let play go not tell them to ‘go back ‘ or ‘no’ or ‘leave it’. Just penalise the offender. His officials missed so many forward passes as well. He obviously wants to be the star. Yesterday the refs were great

BBC : STOP MESSING AROUND WITH SOUND EFFECTS.
Originally, they piped in crowd noise because silence was deemed unnatural. But some fool inserting cheers - and even gasps, whistles and boos - is not only wildly unnatural and mistimed by delay, but infuriatingly meddlesome control of what should just be live sport.

Do the BBC have a department solely dedicated to spoil people's enjoyment. I am quite hard of hearing, use two hearing aids; all this piped background noise does for me is drown out the commentary. All the TV channels do it simply because the directors feel they can . It is really intrusive. BBC set the lead; stop piped noise.

Absolutely, pyrrhic victory for Wales. A sending off plays mental tricks on teams but Wales would not have won that against 15. However, discipline wins many a game and Ireland paid the price for their lack of discipline. Liam Williams wasn't playing for serving a ban for the exact same thing. That was a little harsh. What Wales are trying to do - they moved the ball a lot faster and the forwards passed the ball instead of thud and blunder.

Congrats to Wales on the win. A huge effort by Ireland when O'Mahony was sent off and bad lucks on some of the decisions by the referee. Two errors cost Ireland the match and I have no doubt if O'Mahony had stayed on the pitch matters would have been different. So sorry for Burns but as a 10 you have to have a go at the death. There is no way that Billy Burns should be in the squad. Ross Byrne is better by a long way.
The problem is not just the bad penalty at the end. On 77 minutes he kicked the ball into touch when Ireland were in possession and moving forward. It was too late in the game at that stage to risk loosing possession with a kick especially with only 14 men.

They held their own in the scrum even with a man short in the scrum a couple of times. Ireland kicking let them down a couple of loose kicks from sexton and earls and Billy burns. you're right. Wales won, and a win is such a loss. What a huge disappointment to have scraped to a win, when a loss was expected by the likes of you. England by contrasr were dialbolical and played worse than high school girls. But that was a great win for Wales, at last a major scalp. If Wales stuttered, Ireland were a disabled train wreck.

Thought he didn't have his best game tbh.

He was too inconsistent in the tackle area. He penalised a lot of "legitimate" turnovers claiming "too long" and then let others slip.

He called "tackle" when knees weren't on the floor and "leave it". He then called "tackle" for others when knees were down but allowed stripping thereafter with turnovers!

Scrum he refd fine, but was easy.

6/10 for me.

A lucky win & when playing poorly, we'll take it.

Ireland could win all their following games and no one would be surprised. We may have to settle for wins against England & Italy :)

As a Welshman, that was a lucky win for Wales, no question about that. Both teams badly out of sorts, could have gone either way if it wasn't for the red card. Good to see LRZ on the scoreboard, but there's just so much bad about the team at the moment with the errors, I can't see Pivac staying much longer as the losses will eventually come

We did not control the game enough, kept being turned over, lost too many line outs, and were slow at the rucks. But being positive it was an improvement from the Autumn, our defence was good, the scrum looked stable, we had a few players who played heads up rugby. We improved enough in the 2nd half to grind a win. It was the stupid kick with 14s to go that let Ire back in, who were then unlucky.

Ireland by far the better side and that was with 14. Also Williams should've seen red but Wales generally got away with countless offsides and lying over the ball all game. Ireland a much better side.

I am proud of my Ireland and devastated for O'Mahony being sent off. A great match from two committed teams and when Ireland where down to 14 men they truly stepped up to the mark. So sorry for Burns but credit to him as a 10 for going for it. A 5m line-out and Wales would have been shuddering given irelands reputation. Well done Wales on the win.

Brave show by Ireland today but Wales are still not convincing.

OK they got the win (unlike England) but looked clueless ball in hand against a depleted defence.

you're right.
