Is there not a case for Italy to join with the likes of Georgia etc to form a Rest of Europe XV. ?

I thought Italy played really well, but they came up against a class side and were made to look ordinary. France now have the best nine in the world, three of the best 10s and backs coming out of the woodwork.Up front they didn't really have to do a lot.But they may well go all the way this year.Brice far better than Ramos at 15, Thomas had a great game, but he doesn't under pressure, Vincent tidy

Why don't Italy & Georgia just play off in November for each 6Ns??
106
07/02/2021 08:30:01 1 1
bbc
Not a bad idea. Maybe the bottom team of the 6N's dropping down into a mini-competition and the winner being promoted. The promoted team can then play in the 6N for at least 2 seasons so they can go through a cycle of home and away games. Bottom team can even receive a parachute payment. Surely there is a solution somewhere to expand the game......

France are a quility team, no question of that. But it must be so frustrating been coach of the Italian Rugby side, they're able to produce decent passages of play, but when threatening the opposition goaline, a lack of concentration, lack of discipline or clumsy errors often means a turnaround when in dangerous area's. Why oh why did England not hire him. A number of French players postponed retirement to play under him. They love his ideas, modus operandi and enthusiasm. 28 matches without a win, not a match won in the 6N since 2015, 50 points shipped at home to France - surely it's time to expand to 7N and give Georgia a chance?

It gives Italy a chance of winning a game, Georgia a chance to build on their improvement in the ANC, whilst if the additional match is scheduled during the existing window it won't trouble the big five too much.

Open up the sport!!

IF you’re going to go to a 7N then ,imho, Japan are a better choice for automatic inclusion on playing ability.
For Georgia (& Russia, Romania, Spain , Portugal etc etc ) a home playoff for whoever wins T2 euro championship vs bottom of 6N would be a sizable incentive to help investment to grow the game. Even if lost , a home playoff would bring a huge amount of exposure for the sport & players.

France were excellent all round. Italy tried hard and showed some flair, but their defence was poor. Teams need to quickly read the game when attacking to seize opportunities. Defending sides need to read the game to block those opportunities. The difference was that the Italians did not read the game in defence.

Nothing for France to worrt about with Scotland and England other than the French inability to travel. Scotland will not be able to throw away so many chances to score. Why did England kick away what little ball they had? Bereft of ideas and so is the coach.

If England had scored a try like Italy's in the first half, and they have quite a few times in the last 12 months, the commentators and ref wouldn't even bat an eyelid. Pundits would say something like "Hint of a forward pass but a lovely finish" when they looked at it after the game. Absolute joke.

And I'm an England fan!

Six nations rugby ltd need to call time on Italy. It's a well intentioned but failed experiment. They are a cultural bonus but endless dead rubbers are boring, they are not even statistically significant at the bottom of the table any more. Italy might have improved in 20 years but the 5 other nations have just improved more, CVC want to invest in the best product, they won't be sentimental.
