This is rubbish...Brexit alone will hammer the UK economy. Not my thoughts....the government's own assessment.

Then add to that the job losses, business closures...and inevitable tax rises (the stealth taxes are starting already).

Only the rich can be optimistic about the future...they always do well in economic downturns. The pandemic has been an economic godsend for most of them.

Central Bank policy has long inflated property markets, stock markets (as the latest GameStop action exposed) and encouraged borrowing to prop up an unsustainable economic model too focused on consumerism and the property market.

It’s one thing for the economy to recover post-Covid, but we must press for a recovery that this time allows the majority to benefit and more sustainably.

At the end of the day, the boomers inflated the property market to their benefit, it's not fair for them to now decide to regulate it and wreck the lives of the millenials who worked hard to get on the property ladder.

The Vaccine is incredible news.

However, the British public are again being misled by the Government.

Vaccines will not stop transmission, and roughly 1 in 3 people (Oxford AZ) will not have any immune protection.

Vaccine pressure will for certain force the virus to mutate to a new strain which will evade current vaccines.

we dont have the worst death rates, adjusted for population we are well behind belgium, also behind Italy and others and on par with France. Germany doesnt report covid deaths in the same way as us, but considering they had a laxer approach to lockdown and didnt close their economy it is impossible that they will not be near the top of the list when excess deaths are calculated later this year
Germany won't be top of the excess death rates at all because in normal times they are really bad at protecting from 'flu. So their normal death rate is really high compared to most of Europe. To put that into focus, here in the UK with our 'shocking' covid fuelled excess death rate, we have now caught up with Germany's 'normal' one. Removed
