Ralph, look at the playbacks from after lockdown 1 when we beat Norwich. Need to get the confidence back and drr theory playing like we did then. Play to Ings strengths. We aren’t getting him in games. We are a good team!

If I may have a little moan. The last 20 minutes should have been ultra high tempo and hammering their 6 yard box. Pretty football and backwards passing is the first half. Losing, and you then go to plan b, c, d etc not stay the same. Not the first time we’ve done that. Fulham away! It’s very frustrating to watch

Speaking as a neutral, that was a heroic win by Newcastle. And Jeff Kendrick owes his teammates at least 10 pints. It wasn't just a momentary grab of the shirt, it was a prolonged pull. Ridiculous. Toon fans should be cautiously optimistic, with Saint-Maxim and Willock improving the squad.

Again Bruce will stick two fingers up to the naysayers as the Magpies put up a decent performance. Saints are depleted of players and they put in a real shift with limited resources. Minamino is a bright light and scored a fine goal on his debut. Saints will come out the end of this horror a better team as they are a decent side with a very good manger.

A highly frustrating afternoon for Southampton. The pitch didn't help, but in truth they didn't do enough to get a result, though it was there for the taking.
But credit to Newcastle, they showed how to defend with 1, then 2 men down.

Top spot to perhaps 15th, depending on other fixtures, in the blink of an eye.

Ralph has already shown what he can do with a limited squad but a severely depleted side, unproven academy players being asked to make a difference and a strong reluctance from the owners to back him in the transfer market, means he’s facing an uphill battle to halt the slide.

Based on the BBC commentary (by the way I don't want weather updates) Shelvey is a lucky lad.

Bruce needs to grasp that Shelvey is poor and nearly cost us today. Recent games he's been responsible for at least 3 opposition goals. Partnered with Hendrick doesn't help either.

Hayden needs to be in midfield.

A good 3 points but Bruce still needs to go.

I keep seeing messages, and hearing pundits, saying Newcastle are 'sound' defensively, or Bruce knows how to make them 'solid'; sorry, but that's absolute nonsense, joint second worst defensive record in the league means you have one of the worst defenses, not solid, or sound.

I'd love to live in some people's alternate realities.

Oh, lucky to get away with the win in the end as well.

Its always hard having 9 men on the pitch (2 less than each team starts with no less) but Newcastle hung on well. In the end, they have managed to win the game, which entitles a team to 3 further points in the league.
