Manchester United equal the Premier League record by putting nine goals past nine-man Southampton - the second time Saints have lost 9-0 in as many seasons.
Twice they've been hit for nine. It's not symopathy he needs, it's his P45.
I agree, and I'm a United fan. We're well behind City at the moment, but I'm really pleased with the progress of this team under OGS.
It would have been quicker to write "Premier" than "it[premiership]" and more accurate, since Man City don't play rugby... it would have been ever quicker for me if I'd not been such a pointless pedant!
yes a nice cosey win at 9-0 but yes as a red i know ciddy will take some shifting BUT burnley could do em tomorrow
Not if Mike Dean is the ref though.
No Leicester... Guess we will have to beat them again.. Easy enough
I think Liverpool will have something to say with that, look unstoppable at the moment
Personally I think a minutes silence for Captain Tom should have taken preference over the Kneeling tonight.

Get a grip.
Three United players have been racially abused in this past week, why pause awareness for racism in sport for something completely disconnected?
I agree but do both we need to tackle racism and a minutes silence would be great for captain Tom who inspired the nation

Looks like Rolf's lost the dressing room since that emotional meltdown against Liverpool. Same thing happend with Poch and Spurs in the CL. Never a penalty though.
Such a shame that Southampton had two men sent off. Without that I am sure Southampton would have got something from the game. Possibly even won it.
I see your mummy let you stay up late tonight.....or were you watching another game....

Hahahahaha
???????? won it ... they were like uner 12s sunday side.
Doh, Southampton.
Hassenhuttel was crying after the recent Liverpool game, he’s certainly crying again tonight !
Man United were ruthless tonight, however, and im sure Utd fans will agree, the referee gave them a huge helping hand and that VAR offisde goal was a disgrace. It should of been a goal and as for the 2nd sending off and penalty, it beggars belief.
Helping hand?
The 1st red was ?? warranted..
I agree the 2nd was slightly soft..
The 1st red was ?? warranted..
I agree the 2nd was slightly soft..
Unfortunately, its the law that if a player doesn't play the ball then a direct red card should be shown when a player is through. He was better off playing the ball would've got a yellow. Same thing with David Luiz red card im sure match of the day will mention it. Hope that helps
Neither of those decisions had any bearing on the eventual result, unlike the two against Sheff U that denied victory to United, both of which the ref has admitted since that he got wrong
Three points lost
Three points lost
So huge helping hand rubbish , it could have been 8. -1 if u want to say United penalty was soft and Southampton goal was onside , so hey lucky United only winning 8 -1
Well if it’s offside it’s offside no matter how tight it is
1st red was a disgusting challenge designed to prevent fathering children. Red for the 8th goal was stupid
Ruthless against 9 men isn't difficult.
classic scousers clutching at straws. They really are pathetic.
First red was fine - tough to give it that early but if you can get away with anything in the first few minutes then there will be dangerous play in the first few minutes.
The second red was textbook double jeopardy and should be rescinded, but it's not like it meant anything by then except increasing the chance of another 9-0.

He didn't play the ball and the rules state it is a red card.
It's the rule that needs looking at, not the ref's decisions.
It's the rule that needs looking at, not the ref's decisions.
First sending off was harsh as it was the second minute of the game for a young player who got his timing and positioning wrong in the middle of the field. I could not say it was clearly wrong but I would have given yellow.
Foul on Cavani on the line was a clear penalty.
Goal by Adams was onside.
Martial was going down before he was touched so no penalty or red card.

Harrogate would look ruthless against 9-man Southampton with a blind ref.
Mike Dean, gave Saints absolutely nothing &,that didn't change the whole game.Really boosting Man Utd goal difference. Awful ref performance & use of VAR disgraceful!!!!!!!
Poor Man Utd they have an inferiority complex, they trying to score too many goals against 9 men team to improve themself in front of Man City and Liverpool.
itsrob - try doing a ref's course to understand the laws of the game, then referee for a season or two, it'll help your understanding of the game.
It should 'have' not 'of' been a goal. If we're being fussy about VAR .....
Its either offside or not, and like Arsenal either, its the. rules
I think we'd have still won 7 or 8 even if the pen and bednarek red aren't given. Their goal should stand aswell. But nobody can say they shouldn't have been down to 10 men that was a shocking challenge, mike dean loves a red card anyway but he had no option there 100% red
How can you win 9-0 but the ref gave them a helping hand?
You need to give your head a wobble.
We should have been 5-0 up in the first half, but had a clear penalty degraded to a free kick and had the ref played on Greenwood was through in goal!!! Where is the helping hand then?

Yes and if it was city of Liverpool in the same position it probably would have been!! That is the difference.
... yep they were hopless
This is beyond a joke now. Tonight, let’s all put allegiances to one side and agree on the indisputable; VAR SHOULD BE BINNED!
Totally agree. 2 games in a row Saints have been done. Outrageous! If it takes that long to work it out benefit the attacker ! Simple as
Southampton saw red in more ways than 1 !
Why? Because United won?
VAR is only a tool. You just need to use it properly. Our refs obviously don't.
United fan here. All three VAR decisions were wrong in my opinion.
Cavani looked like he was on the line, so that should have been a pen. This one was the most debatable though.
Saints goal clearly level.
Martial was already going down.

I disagree it was a red card denied a clear goal scoring opportunity I’m guessing your supper Liverpool or city
Nobody should disagree with this, VAR is an absolute shambles. How that was offside I'll never know and also after all those VAR decisions and somebody decided to add the bare minimum 3 mins? No conspiracy just incompetence.
Everything is micro managed now to the point once VAR is looked at it's letter of the law time, accept no substitutes and referees can't then use common sense.
Everything is micro managed now to the point once VAR is looked at it's letter of the law time, accept no substitutes and referees can't then use common sense.
It’s just another device to be abused. We can all see the lines being drawn, do they think we can’t see the screen! It’s truly an embarrassment.
Should have been binned ages ago. It's now become a shield for officials who are either too incompetent or cowardly to make the decisions for themselves
You're probably right, the double whammy of no fans and players reluctant to celebrate due to VAR checks is sucking the life and passion from the game. There are just as many dodgy mistakes with VAR as there were without it.
I'm a United fan but completely agree that 2nd red was plainly wrong. Ball was gone, he was pulling out of the tackle, the only question is was there enough to give a pen?
Totally agreed. I'm a United fan and all the VAR decisions were wrong. Even the first red card was soft. We probably wouldn't have won tonight without all those ridiculous decisions in our favour. It has ruined what should have been a great game of football. (PS: the ease with which Martial goes down each week is embarrassing)
FFS!! IT IS THE LAWS! VAR SIMPLY ENFORCE THE LAWS! Are footie fans still this thick? In your world the government passes a mew law which is deeply unpopular and you lot walk the streets carrying placards saying “Ban the police”
Footie fans and their stupidity - the gift that keeps giving
Footie fans and their stupidity - the gift that keeps giving
I totally disagree VAR should stay, What if we had VAR when Maradonna hand balled the ball into the net against england, or when Henry did the same against Ireland these are only two examples of illegitimate goals that have been scored and should never have stood.
Agreed it's time for an official enquiry. If this was any other business involving such big somes of money where so many questionable decisions were being made there would be a criminal investigation. Bookies must be making a fortune!
Guaranteed if Pogba or Fernandes made a similar challenge after less than 2 minutes, they wouldn't have been sent off. Martial should've been booked for diving too.
It has to be binned because the officials are looking at the pictures and coming to the wrong conclusions all too often.
The VAR concept is great but it must be binned if they are unable to use it.
The VAR concept is great but it must be binned if they are unable to use it.
Were you saying the same last week when United were on the wrong end of two decisions?
Why?
Not sure we can blame var tonight. Var asked dean to look at what they thought was a dive and he couldnt bring himself to overturn his error. #BIN DEAN
It has been beyond on a joke for a while, not fit for purpose in its current form. The impact is even worse when at the stadiums watching live.
Disagree. It should be taken out of the hands of the PGMOL. Have a trio of ex-Pros calling the tight decisions. No pitch side monitor to prevent a Mike Dean debacle.
The rules of the game are being badly shown up by VAR. I'm a man u fan & no fan of David Luiz but look at that Arsenal game. Had he hacked the Wolves player down in an "attempt" to play the ball then he would've got a yellow. He pulled out of the tackle & got a red instead. Its all madness. VAR got three decisions wrong in the man u game. The use of VAR is being very badly used.
It's not VAR, it's the woefully inept officiating. Despite this VAR should still be gotten rid of, in my view.
But then where would Utd and liverpool be then? If they can't be given everything then the entire equbrium of football's very existence would be irreparably broken. Not to mention having to put up with 24/7 klopp moaning.
Nah, sorry that won't work.
Nah, sorry that won't work.
VAR isn't the problem. It is the officials, and not all of them, that choose to take the rules and decide they want to see them how they prefer. Some of the officials bottle it when it comes to certain teams.
Was against it from the start.... not because of how well it might work, but because it would detract from the spirit of sport, which is after all what it's all about.
I hope brighton take a sh*te on top of liverpool tomorrow night.
Nothing to do with VAR. It's the ref's interpretation!! Job just doing its job.
Shouldn't be binned, it should be used properly, why don't they mic up the decision makers and the ref like in rugby so we can all hear.
Football is run by a bunch of profiteering cowards.
Football is run by a bunch of profiteering cowards.
Don’t blame VAR for issues with the rules - this red card for accidental contact is just a bizarre interpretation. It will now be clarified now doubt. As for offside needs to be given a margin of error and/or done by eye, no lines. But I’ll happily take the pen that was a free kick being overruled.
I switched straight away to Newcastle - Palace game after the red card was shown.
For once I wished to see a proper genuine win by Man Utd.
For once I wished to see a proper genuine win by Man Utd.
All Man Utd wins are opponents mistakes, referee mistakes, VAR dodgy decisions, and of course Penalty divings.
The first red was a nailed in red card but I thought the second red was very harsh but you take what lady luck gives you in sport and make the most of it, 9-0 does wonders for our goal difference and we'll take it. We're on cloud 9.
When was the last time u won the league
Something Rio Ferdinand said was if it's a red card if you don't attempt to play the ball why wouldn't you just clean the guy out with a late attempt for the ball? And when you think about it the rules shouldn't encourage such skullduggery.
Enjoy. You’ll be in tears soon
Lady luck is to do with the bounce of a ball. A mis kick that results in a goal. The impact of the wind or a slippery pitch. It should not be about inept refereeing.
Consistent with the rules. Luis received the same treatment in the Arsenal v Wolves game...no attempt to play the ball...contact (foul) in penalty area...straight red.
Don't get too excited by this scoreline, United fans, in 1995 you beat Ipswich 9-0 then drew three home games in a row 0-0, losing the title to Blackburn by a point. You might like to save a few goals for games against fellow big six teams, only one goal scored in those games so far and that a pen (obviously) in a 6-1 drubbing by Spurs, don't say you haven't been warned!
Wow, Southampton just got Leicester'ed! An enormous mountain to climb when down to ten men after 2 minutes!
the challenge was ridiculous though should have been jailed
Mike look at me dean is howard the coward webbs love thingy
Mike Dean made the decisions according to the rules. You can't blame this on him. The rules and VAR are at fault.
Diddums
Man Utd fan and can't stand Dean. Don't want to argue with you, as I don't think we needed him to win. He's bad for the game.
I'm sure 3 nil wins against Sheffield united,Arsenal and southampton would have been more beneficial...
yeah..if the play 10 reserves every week...!
Red Card after 2 mins, never seen a more blatant red.
Cavani pen not given.
Cavani pen not given.
thats what its for fella, whose interested in any pther than the big teams, im not!
Why do Man Utd benefit then ?
Someone tell Southampton that this is a cricket score.
Cue the comments from man u 'fans'
You know the ones that went missing after the sheff u and Arsenal games?

More to the point what are you doing here?

Nothing for you here.

Harder to find than a 'pool fan after Villa
Yes, I have just one comment: NINE NIL
Is this the same saints team everyone was raving about recently ?? who was in goal my Gran ?
As a United fan I'm delighted with our performance but it's absolutely shocking from VAR and the officials, Southampton have been hard done by on more than one occasion
Rashford and Martial are happy that your fans aren't going to racially abuse them tonight!
Removed
Expect an article tomorrow crying about abuse towards United.
Ah shut it you’d be crying if you didn’t win
No sympathy for them matey, nobody has any sympathy when we are hard done to by the ref which is most games, so GET IN there yeeeaaaahhh NINE
And also benefitted by VAR this season and the last one. Saints were very poor tonight with no fight . Safe from relegation but nothing to play for . The middle bit of the Premier league is a bit dull with teams showing how bad they can be every now and then by getting hammered.
As a United Fan myself VAR works both ways as against Sheff Utd when we lost it was VAR that cost us that victory. The Ref and VAR admitted they both got decisions wrong but result still stand.
Agree on the second Red though. Jan Bednarek foul was a bit tame.
Agree on the second Red though. Jan Bednarek foul was a bit tame.
Stop joking, you are not a United fan. Last week a referee mistake denied United a goal and a goal went against them.
It’s nice to know that you now realise something that has been going on for a long time, that VAR is tipped in your favour.
Look out for this next week, month, season...
Look out for this next week, month, season...
There isn’t a premier league club that hasn’t suffered at the draconian rules of VAR,I agree with an earlier comment if there is doubt give it to the scorer. What difference does it make if the persons armpit hair or toenail is 0.09 mm offside.
To be fair , they were more robbed in their previous game against Villa , where 2 ludicrous VAR decisions consigned them to defeat instead of victory.
Thanks mate the 1st Utd fan who speaks like it is! I watched the game last night & couldnt believe the ref or officials, is this a knock on effect of the gnome's revelation regarding a confidential letter sent to him by the referees fed! The gnome has learned a lot from Pep, get the media to focus on something you see as unjust & the decisions then go for you than against you, its still cheating!
And the star of the show was........
Mike Dean. Guaranteed to be centre stage.
Mike Dean. Guaranteed to be centre stage.
Varpool's fault. They bought so many Saint's stars!
yeah he loves the attention but hey ho its an easy 9-0 win so it will do me
Apparently has own professional make up artist to look good for cameras
Anthony Martial - I hope you're pleased with yourself.
Getting your opponent sent off with 5 minutes to go, when you're already winning 6-0, is just about as low as you can go.
Shame on you.
Don't blame the ref. All He can do is implement the laws.
If this is football, you can keep it.

Every footballer in the premier does exactly the same . Go boohoo somewhere else
Its not the law. That rule is for players deliberately catching an opponent through on goal, not for trying to avoid him altogether. Officials giving decisions on s technicality. Same as the City offside which wasn't given a few weeks back. That rule rewritten so will this. Officials at fault
He might cry racism if you criticise him.

Oh my my, well played united, but you have to feel sorry for poor poor Southampton.
No one deserves that! Lol

No we all feel sorry for you having such delusion
oh i think you will find the saints deffo deserve that pasting, the number of times they have raised there game against us is scandalous, glad they got smashed to pieces tonight
luvin it, no mercy

You say "poor, poor Southampton." Yes that's perfectly true - even allowing for their weakened team, that's exactly true, they played poorly!
But if they had even got a result last night you would have heard the screams of delight from ABUs at the far reaches of the Milky Way.
But if they had even got a result last night you would have heard the screams of delight from ABUs at the far reaches of the Milky Way.
There was a point in the game that I thought , 2021 will be the year - we were actually going to see Manyu STRIKER Mason Greenwood score an actual goal. It’s so easy to get carried away and take things that bit too far though isn’t it?
MUFC. Bring on the bitters and their comments after that performance
Or you could keep quiet and see where we all finish at the end of the season.
3 things certain in life; death, taxes and customary penny for bruno penandes.
Sure united deserved the win, but do feel for Southampton, ten men from more or less kick off

Customary penalty? You mean like the last 2 nailed on they didn’t get? Or the fact the player denied martial a clear goal scoring opportunity?
Back to tory bashing for you
Back to tory bashing for you
Why feel sorry? Soton did it to themselves,a clear red as you will see all season, yes Soton unlucky with offside goal, but United unlucky not to score when pen was given/ not given, if ref had just let play go on for 5 secs Greenwood scored, amazing
how they let play go on when someone is offside, and then bring it back.

Disgraceful red card for Bednarek- I wouldn't even consider it a foul. Man U played well though
Scott mctominay showing any scouse troll marks left by Bednarek to dismiss false claims later that he wasn't touched
No one can argue it was a red , no need to bring rivalries in .

Southampton's defence is the biggest joke. How the hell do a professional football team let in 9 goals. So funny.
Video interference kills the spirit the game. It is only there to benefit those who stand to gain/lose money on organised sports, such as betting agencies.
Ban betting agencies like we banned tobacco and all of the sudden there will be no more push for VAR.
No one misses tobacco no one will miss betting either.

Getting sent off in the 3rd minute. Moronic doesn't quite cut it.
Didn’t last that long
Young kid making his starting debut, at Old Trafford in Rush of Blood to the Head shocker.
If we had any cover, he wouldn't have been starting at all. The only thing that makes it funny is he wanted a transfer in the January window because he wasn't getting any game time. That's gone well for him and his agent ????

79 secs. The fourth player in PL history to be sent off within 2 mins.
shocking lunge deserved it had it been on civvy street hed be behind bars
Not a bad pay day, then spends the next 87 minutes tweeting horrible things to players he doesn’t like
I thought it was quite a good debut, didn't make many mistakes all game.
I hope that gets our attackers firing again, but Martial still didn't look happy there.
never does!
err, when was the most recent before tonight..?
Let it go, for goodness sake it was a penalty blame the Southampton player
The penalty we got was soft but we should of had one for the foul on Cavani earlier so it evened out.
Oh shut upppp! Jeez
Yeah, because if they didn’t get that penalty the game would have changed??
How else will Penandez score LOL!! Only free kicks and penalties
nice and the hop skip and jump too, all the ABU'ers crying again lol luvin it. Get In 9-0!
Next time they play Villa we are considering letting them have their penalty before kick off to get it over and done with.
southampton should be removed from the premier league it’s as simple as that. two 9-0 defeats is unacceptable at this level, kick em back to league one to teach them a lesson, don’t care where they finish. embarrassing club

they beat Liverpool
You should be removed from every HYS because writing drivel at this level is unacceptable

Great shout. Bet you've got some great ideas on various world issues too.
Ooooh. Somebody's tired ...
Agreed. Anything to rid the EPL of Stuart blinking Armstrong.
They would have done better tonight with Graeme Souness, or Avram Grant, or Christian Gross, or Unai Emery, or Felix Megath, or John Carver at the helm!
Ole has found the winning formula. Having a pregame word with the ref works better than having a word with his team.

Scarily accurate
2-1 shef United? So fickle
It’s not Ole’s fault the young player thought he was in Hackney Marshes with his tackle the game was over before the later farcical decision
The ref did not influence the result of the game! One or two decisions would not have changed the scoreline too much! whether it was 6 or 9 nil it was a great performance

Excellent result. Now we must stay the course and stay in the top 3. To finish 2nd would be a great achievement considering how good Pool and City are.
all the red london fans did
I did & I'm a saints fan, it's been on the cards for a few weeks. No team can afford to lose so many players through injury especially with such a weak squad & now we got suspensions on top. Hope we don't see that ref again this season.
I did I was thinking 10 or 11, most upset now :-(
Get In There Boys 9-0!!!!!!!
Get In There Boys 9-0!!!!!!!
The saints annual 9-0 thrashing
There’s a lot of angry scousers on here tonight because we’ve now matched their goal difference.
At least they now have the set, 9 nil home and away!
Well i guess that'll teach that young fella not to get a red card, especially when so early in the game.
Red card without a doubt , reported this week he asked for a transfer , so given a chance tonight and blew it
Southampton are decimated at the moment but no accounting for the unprofessionalism with the red cards. Good result for United
But the second red was a joke! How was that unprofessional? The defender was trying to avoid contact!
Mike Dean was the unprofessional one! Again!
Mike Dean was the unprofessional one! Again!
And season started today
The last game I saw with such blatant refereeing favouritism was ManU v Arsenal in the 90s. Mike Riley did everything to stop Arsenal winning.
Mike Dean did everything to help ManU win tonight. So the PL has gone back to ‘help ManU whatever the cost’.

Don't give up your day job or take up fishing for that matter
That red card early on was not even a question. The offside & the two pens ( 1 not given & 1 given) not so great. VAR is poor.......& I'm a man u supporter.
Tsk tsk tsk. Saints lost that game 1:22 seconds in. VAR needs looking at. It simply isn't working.
And also they were only down to 10 men not 9.
Fantastic result
Horrendous tackle.
Now waiting for Scousers, city fans and the like to complain about something

Far from it, as a lifelong City fan I can only stand and applaud, well done indeed.
Oh and they will... the one in 30 year hit wonders and the noisy neighbor's, that will soon fall apart??
... with your spelling.
Its not a red card, once again the officials making decisions on a technicality. By not attempting to play the ball, that does not mean trying to avoid contact. It means deliberately catching a player through on goal without going for the ball. Same as the stupid technicality with the City offside, reading too far into into. That rule was changed, this will too. Crap
Pretty sure this decision was made to support the Luiz sending off, Dean was giving free kicks to Southampton when their own players ran into each other at one point, smacks more of incompetence rather than bias
Actually the rule already states no red for non deliberate denial of GSO in box. Refs just don't seem to know the rules , or imagine that every foul that isn't a mis-timed tackle is deliberate. That one was a yellow going by the rules , since it was clearly not deliberate.
Beats the 7 goals that villa drove in against liverpool
Manchester is Red !!!
Manchester is Red !!!
If VAR needs to be used for offsides can we get rid of the lines. The point of VAR is to correct clear and obvious mistakes by the officials. If you can't determine if a clear and obvious mistake has been made without putting lines across the pitch then its quite possible that there wasn't a clear and obvious mistake and the on field decision should stand
Absolutely right. It is a complete farce. The late pen was also ridiculous.
Doubt the result would have been different without the craziness of VAR, but it made the game a joke.
Players falling down, screaming like stuck pigs, and VAR zealots will eventually kill football.

That’s what used to be - and everyone moaned. Possibly because everyone wants it to go their way and can’t accept it in both scenarios. So shut up and put up and enjoy. Before VAR or after it will - never satisfy until people stop having tantrums when decisions go against them.
I think VAR offside should be based on centre line of torso, not extremities of fingernails.
Absolutely if you are level you should be on. All this elbow or knee playing them off is nonsense.
Totally agree, if it takes 5 minutes to decide an offside allow the linesman decision to stand. Personal che Adams goal was good.
Great shout, old rule was benefit of doubt given to attacker to make for more entertaining game and more goals, if VAR or on field ref can’t tell with freeze frame and naked eye, give it onside and get on with it.
Totally agree... the point is to get rid of the clear and obvious. Lines ruin the game and takes too long.
Exactly. People have been making the same complaints for months now. How are the football authorities so inept at implementation of a type of system used in Rugby for decades?
The 'Umpire's call' use in the Decision Review System in cricket works very well.
Where there is an element of doubt (surely, there is a margin of error? Could they use +/-1cm? 5cm?), they should just be going with the call on the field.
VAR could work if applied fairly and consistently. It's pathetic how it's used currently.

Like other sports let officials do their jobs but manager/captain could have challenges
The clear and obvious concept does not apply to offside decisions
But as they keep saying, refs, pundits, etc etc, offside is offside, no matter the margin. As far as im concerned, clear and obvious is BS. Its either yes or no. So to then let a goal stand when a player is offside is ludicrous.
Totally agree. Thats the problem with technology...once its there its used for every tiny decision. Just look at all the ridiculous reviews you see in cricket now.

I thought all this had been resolved, however, it appears not. VAR had good intentions, but is seriously flawed. If there is no gap between the lines, in my view the decision should be given to the attacker. With regards to offside, it's OK to rule out a goal if a player is offside during the build up, however what if a player is deemed offside incorrectly and play is stopped, no VAR to correct???
Yep , no line drawing. If you need a line , it's not offside.
I wrote to the PL & FA to point out that FIFA & EUFA both state categorically that VAR is not to be used for micro-measurements in tight offside calls, others have suggested a 100mm (4") demarcation line between defenders & attackers to give clear air but nothing has been done & i dont believe anything will be done. Clubs are allowed to have VAR turned OFF in their games so why dont they!
12 v 9 at the end. Mike Dean favours certain clubs. Absolutely disgraceful decision for the pen and red near the end.

Stupid comment, Who in there right mind would show favour to a club that’s already 6-0 up. It’s ridiculous rules and officiating, not bias, you need to check out the Luis red in Wolves/Arsenal game, then tell me it’s just Mike “Hollywood” Dean showing Utd favouritism
The ghost of Fergie still haunts the place. Dean is a disgrace and VAR is a joke.
Are you a flat earther by any chance.
No-no. The ghost himself was there
Hats off to Sir Alex. Eeasy foul on Martial, but I honestly do NOT mind. Nice correctiom to our goal difference. Bit of a morale boost was needed tonighy.

I agree. OGS complains against VAR, decisions against & saying his players are too nice & next game, VAR, officials & decisions all go their way. Sound familiar? Martial penalty was clearly a dive & where was that offside against Saints goal. Just baffled
And UNITED won 9-0!
Fergie's ghost isn't haunting the place! He's always there. He shouldn't be there, he should be at home watching iton tv. Somebody needs to have a word with him. same with Bobby Charlton.
Great win for Utd, always sympathise with any team that get hammered. My one gripe is almost all of the top teams in this case 75 per cent of the ball for Utd, Southampton obviously 25 per cent yet Utd commit 11 fouls to Southampton 6 fouls. Refs need to get a grip of this.
Excellent result for Man Utd & sorts out their goal difference too! Just a pity they didn’t beat Sheff Utd by the same score line.
And yes, ABUs, Liverpool lost 7-2 at Aston Villa with 11 men before you mention the sendings off this evening...

But that day it was two full strength sides and Dean wasn't officiating.

Happy Days Are Here Again!
Mike Dean? Worst ever?? Otherwise, well done Utd.
Not yet got the iconic status of Oliver and Clattenburg but he’s getting there.
I'm not saying this to mock the lad but surely Jankewitz has just had the worst debut in PL history? Even Ali Dia at least stayed on the pitch and lasted longer.
Has to be worst in history, did he even touch the ball at any point?
Marco Boogers was bad.
This is beyond a joke now. Tonight, let’s all put allegiances to one side and agree on the indisputable; VAR SHOULD BE BINNED!
Yes, a real game changer that tight decision.
9-0
You were dead and buried after 1 minute no fault of VAR by the way just a reckless tackle. I agree VAR is rubbish it slows the game down
moan moan moan saints not marching in tonight lol
hammered out of sight at Gold Trafford

Really so you would have won if the offside had not been given!! You could have scored seven after that and still lost 9-8! Wind your neck in!
VAR bottled it big time.
United diving to win a penalty against a team they are leading by 5 goals. You can't make this up.

City or liverpool which one do u support? or bolton lol - Get a life sad case
God lord so obsessed with United
Most likely because Martial doesn't know how to do anything else - I mean can anyone seriously remember the last time they saw him in the box trying to out-muscle defenders and get a strike away?? - His body language every time he's in the box shows he's waiting for contact to come so he can go down - he's more concerned with winning penalties than actually scoring.
diving? thats why we have VAR fella to sort out then right decision and it was a right decision. defenders will have to STOP making reckless tackles on Uniteds strikers in the box or suffer!
Get in 9-0!!!!
Get in 9-0!!!!

At least it looks like no one will ever talk about Saints 0 9 leicester now...
Cue the ABUs saying we played a depleted team, etc.
Good performance but feel for Saints tonight.

Another corner turned
I see the referee is another Man U supporter.

It didn't affect the result of course, but what a joke of a decision for the second red! The defender was trying to get out of the way! How can that he a red? I know it was Mike Dean, but come on, how can that be a red?
Classic Bruno going missing in the big games then stat padding against 9 man Southampton!
its all above board as discussed on BT Sportafter the game
because the rules say it is?
Not Mike Dean's fault the 2nd red. It's the rules. S**tley Park have said the pen is not a clear and obvious error so I don't know if he can overturn original decision, but once given then had no choice to send Bednarick off. 1st red 100% in any game from last 15yr, but 2nd is a complete farce of a rule. As Ferdinand said after, defenders should just wipe the striker out now and get a booking
LFC didn't play against 10, then 9, reserves when we played S/Hampton.....try turning up against the top teams.......and bring Bruno with you......playground bullies.
Ole at the wheel
Good to see united winning by a large margain
No one expects us to win the league this season- just to close the gap with City and Liverpool; we're certainly doing it
Still need someone on the right wing another cb and a young world class number 9. Hopefully we can get those over the coming seasons and challenge

you are pathetic
This, against nine men, is not record its a gimme!
His whole game plan ruined in 3 minutes!
Was unlucky to have that goal disallowed too.. Ridiculous VAR decision. Seriously!
Manchester United took advantage of 10 men tonight and produced a good performance. Well played.
Still think Manchester City will win it[premiership] by a canter...
