Caution prevails on low-key deadline day

Just three permanent deals are completed by Premier League clubs on a quiet deadline day as spending in the whole transfer window is at its lowest level since 2012.

Despite almost no deals being done, the BBC Sport gossip column has been full of transfer rumours everyday since summer (newspaper stories).

Just goes to show that if there is no news, then journalists will make it up.

The amount of times I've clicked on a link about a Premier League side playing only for it to be for Women's Football - so annoying!
With Cricket they subtitle it Women's Cricket yet not for Football. They need to call it Women's Football or something else - Soccer or just WSL will do for me.

Are we at last seeing a long overdue recognition that footballers are an over-rated and over- valued asset? A look around the PL reveals a surfeit of very costly but very average quality players, many of whom consider themselves beyond criticism. Fans are denied basic freedom of speech in the media and from the terraces in a misguided effort to dictate a questionable political agenda. Worrying!
