The move sparks concerns that customers could see prices rise if merchants pass on the higher cost.
Project fear becomes Project Reality!
And this is just the beginning.
Now why would you find that boring?

So are we, but we've got to pay for it, thanks.........?

But well done for perpetuating the stereotype that Leavers were a little less educated than the other side.

What's the matter? scared precious brexit can't stand up to scrutiny? it's not project fear, its project reality, and there is a LOT more to come.
You said it was all Project Fear. Very sadly for us, you were very wrong.
So there is the fish, the online purchases, musicians cannot do gigs, UK engineers cannot work on short term EU contracts - not to mention Northern Ireland.
What else did the brexiteers gloss over - or dismiss as Project fear

Quite a statement. Do you have the evidence to support your comment?
I suppose 'Spoons' has its own 'Credit Card' for Brexiteers, probably blue in colour to match there lovely new passports..........?
The change in fees by Mastercard will affect debit cards as well: https://www.ft.com/content/39f553a0-00c5-48ad-a8ee-0b9fd75554b0
You're missing the point. They are all greatly affected by the rest of the economy. When retailers, industries, etc. are hit by this and all the other stuff, and their businesses decline, who do you think will suffer the most? The people you mention, who thought to themselves "this does not affect me—I don't travel to Europe, I don't have a credit card, etc."
Well, their decision simply made it all the more likely that situation will continue indefinitely then, didn't it?
If life is tough why not vote to make it tougher-er???

Who are these nasty supporters of the EU?
Like a Monty Python sketch, we’re rapidly learning what the EU ever did for us...
Now that it’s become apparent, can we have a rejoin ref please? Ideally before Scotland head off.
Anyway... give it 15 years of demographics doing its thing & the current band of Brextremists in govt retiring to their overseas pads, & we’ll be rejoining. Just a shame the humiliation heaped upon ourselves meantime.

watch the EU disintegrate as they fight like cats in a sack on vaccines and vaccine approval; it's already started actually.
and the charming, and unelected, Ms Von Der Leyen's recent "virus-what virus" trip to Portugal.
wait till the covid recession hits Europe and Frau Merkel's successor, aided and abetted by Monsieur Macron, impose - yet again - callous and brutal austerity on southern Europe. Removed

Typical vaccine nationalist comment.
Which bit of "we're all in this together" do you not understand ? Remember that Oxford vaccine was developed by people of 57 nationalities.

I reckon the rise is to cover insurance costs for their EU business, for if it isn't the French rioting, it's the Germans rioting if neither of them it's the Italians, and if none of them it's the Dutch.

Actually I didn't vote for it & it's not great having juvenile bigots like you jump in with both feet immediately coming to conclusions.
But it's funny watching frothers like you dribbling like babies about matters that don't have a material effect on your life. If you could see yourself in the mirror, you'd walk away.

It’s ok we will rejoin in 2026 and have the Euro as currency and garlic chips with snails, watch Fred scuttle Johnson refused entry into Europe because his passport image matches his arse

So my company has lost 35% business because we can no longer trade the way we did before with the EU. I have prioritised laying off those who voted leave.

What interrogation technique are you using?
We brexiteers don’t like globalization....it’s driven our wages so low it has to be topped up by the tax payer.....
Persecutes people based on political beliefs... Remoaner. Yep.
Should remaintards be forced onto the EU vaccination programme for lying about food and medicine shortages and deliberately misleading the public with Project Fear? ??

Any Remaintards read the new agricultural bill? Now I know we haven’t had the medicine and food shortages you had hoped for but can name a single benefit of the EUs Common Agricultural Policy?...just one ??

Level playing field with other European farmers. From a few years hence, our farmers will be competing with rest of world with no help at all , so will go bust when they are undercut by produce from States and elsewhere. It's a case of be careful what you wish for, pea-brain! But I wouldn't expect you to understand that . ??
The left haven't had one good answer for me this whole time but they'll be back here tomorrow peddling the same talking points and feigning no memory of this.
Where have I read a description of this sort of public debate?
I'll let the educated reader ponder on it.

yet more lies first WMD then brexit then children cant get covid all proved to be lies. just like this story as the clear cheerleaders for pro-eu anti-uk all they can do is look at one side of a story and lie, hows about looking from the other side for once rather than just being anti uk pro eu traitors added costs to eu prices will increase likelihood of buyers choosing uk rather than eu goods

Don’t buy from the EU.....simples!
Yet again another greedy company looking to increase shareholder wealth with unethical practices. Well let’s vote with our feet. Who uses MasterCard anyway? They are choosing to raise fees out of spite and greed. Just use visa... visa is an Aston Martin compared to MasterCard the rusty robin reliant. This just a publicity stunt from a declining business and they know it
Can’t debate!

I think you fruitcakes really need to get over yourselves
Telling us what to buy, telling us where to buy it, telling us it's good for us, now telling us which credit card to use when the likelihood is Visa will 'pricematch' MC anyway
I think we should insist you eat herring everyday and stand in a queue waiting for your new, reduced, welfare payments. You need to feel the love Removed

We need to feel the love from intolerant name callers?
Of course there were going to be glitches. EU is hacked off with us and will/is making life difficult. Big business will try to exploit it. Its just a matter of ironing out issues as they arise. It will take time.
Government needs to legislate to get Mastercard back into line. Brexit is not going to be easy but we can get there.

So you agree then? Mastercard is exploiting Brexit. I guess that makes you look unhinged.
Consumers have the power to dictate retail. So far they have been happy to preside over the slow death of traditional retail and the high street by sofa shopping. Its particularly prevalent amongst the young (hence the success of Boohoo). On--line shopping hands power to the credit card companies. What sort of retail do consumers want? Stop sleepwalking into this mess.
Are you able to introduce a relevant point without resorting to insults?
