Emphatic finishes from Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso see off Burnley to give Thomas Tuchel his first victory as Chelsea boss.

Lamps was not the problem. He just wasn’t experienced enough to be given the Chelsea job. He also seems to want to freeze players e.g. Alonso, who today showed why he should be playing. As the Chelsea management said, Lampard was clueless on how to turn things round.

There was an assuredness about this team, only a week in, that I can’t recall seeing at any point under Lamps’ reign. He did well in many regards, but Chelsea were always fragile.

The key problem, in my opinion, was that there wasn't enough pace in the attack. Too much strolling around and passing the ball sideways.

I don't know if that was because of Lampard, or if the players just weren't following his game plan properly, but that was the main issue.

Good points and opinions so far. So far from all comments, I think I’ll conclude it’s a combination of both the manager and the players ( Lampard’s inexperience and poor players performance rate)
The team needed new motivation, maybe the board were right on their decision. Lamps still a legend and we all love him. KTBFFH.

Total domination and not just possession, looked like we would score any minute of the game.

So much better then just passing it around with no intent.

Anyone accepting the Chelsea job knows what's what.
You're paid very well and when you're (inevitably) sacked get a bumper payout.
Where's the problem in that?

Well we looked like a different animal today. Right from kickoff the result never looked in doubt. Great to see Alonso & Cesar back in the team & both on the score sheet as well. Really now looking forward to the Spurs game on Thursday. Tuchel v Jose, should be interesting. Hopefuly both this result & more so the style of play is a sign of things to come. K.T.B.F.F.H.

Resurrection of Alonso, we knew full well that he's our best LWB option, let's not flap about it. I like how Tuchel getting the results and possibly raising the potential sale price for the fringe players, he also turns CHO into a weapon!

Squads like Burnley know they need 40 points to guarantee PL income and can intentionally lose 50% of matches, there is a plan.
Win 11 - Go for everything
Draw 7 - Parking 11 in the box
Lose 20 - Pick these meticulously
All are adjusted based on opposition injuries / mental state but they can lose 3 a row, planning to throw everything at the 4th one.
Diff world to chasing CL, yet highly skilled.

Gegenpress or tiki-taka with Burnley's players would have them end up playing my team at Spotland within 2 seasons, I don't know why some expect that kind of football from teams who's entire squads don't even add up to 1 player's transfer fee at a top 6 club.
