Brexit: Nissan commits to keep making cars in Sunderland
22/01/2021 | news | business | 5,149
The Japanese car maker has told the BBC its Sunderland plant is secure for the long term.
Great news. 76,000 jobs saved and a big plus for the UK's balance of trade. As Nissan say, all the result of a trade deal.
So I wonder what the vociferous HYS supporters of "no deal/WTO rules" will have to comment today? Will they admit they were wrong? Let's hear from:
"what we do defines us"
"Joseph Dejacque"
"BBCdon'tlike"
"Colin"
"Ronnie"
"Viva Brexit" et al.

Don't be shy guys.

If pro-Brexits would settle for "purple" and anti-Brexits would like nothing less than "red" it is more sensible to call for "blue" than call for "purple", though.

That way the pro-Brexits get their "purple"
Big picture please brexitards. UK economic hit from COVID triple that of Germany and worst in G7. In fact one of worst in world. Down to brexit I'm afraid. But, you keep focusing on what suits you and watch the UK GDP dwindle. Removed

I thought that Nissan was packing its bags. I have several BBC articles that seemed to suggest that this was a sufficiently likely prospect to run as a BrExit story.

It's been a bad month for those remainers hoping for their promised catastrophe. Sandwichgate was particularly humiliating.

PS The EU is not a country. We should not grant them diplomatic status.
The catastrophe was only avoided by BoJo getting the deal. Do keep up.

The fact Nissan are coming out so strongly in favour must surely mean BoJo has offered them something very juicy, otherwise known as a bribe.

And stop spreading Daily Mail-originated fake news. That era is now gone.

Brexit: Nissan commits to keep making cars in Sunderland...Great news for the North East and Sunderland in particular. Nissan owes this to the UK as the Government has funded Nissan in the past. The Nissan workforce is highly skilled and productivity is very high. They have been incredibly loyal to Nissan. 70,000 plus jobs run the Nissan operation in the UK from manufacture and supply chain.
And this will mean appreciably fewer toxic emissions from the rotting corpse of Remain. Happy days for the majority in this country who are fed up with the constantly negative whining of the Referendum losers. Removed

So, another lie from the Brexit losing Remainers.

Why did they always lie and refuse to accept many people want a trade deal but not FoM or paying in to the EU?

Any fee should be per head & not GDP. If you cannot afford a per head, do not join.
More people from EU came to UK than UK to EU, so it is a bad deal.

We were always going to get a deal, but to get one the other side has to be sure you are willing to walk away without one, that's how all negotiations work, so it wasn't remainers who 'got the deal' it was those that ran the leave campaign (i.e. Boris). Only 1% in it since around October 2020. Johnson squandered the huge lead the Conservatives did have by demonstrating his incompetence over Covid and Brexit negotiations. His personal approval rating is still a long way negative.

Good job Nissan are staying if this following story is true.

UK firms are being told BY GOVERNMENT TRADE OFFICIALS that to overcome their Brexit problems they should set up companies in the EU.

"many other countries upset that EU has vaccine supply issues"

So do you suggest the EU reneges on its UK vaccine contracts and stops shipments to the UK ....

... or to keep this post on topic, are you suggesting a use for the Nissan cars the few want to buy, in shipping those vaccines across the EU?
