Jurgen should play Fabinho and Henderson In mIdfield and the two young boys in defence and get the team to sit deep in order to protect the young defenders. It will be easier to defend that way and it will give the front three more room to exploit the opposition. If we do not sort out our defence, we can say goodbye to the title because Man city have the momentum now.

Never ceases to amaze me how the average Joe believes solutions to problems are so easy. Play deep ? So TAA & robbo sit deep as well? Or do they carry on bombarding forward? But if they do can the opponents play split forwards and expose Phillips / Williams lack of pace? And what about the completely new training drills, tactics JK would have to implement as part of a new system? The list goes on

Well said mate, its not rocket science as Jurgen continually says, Phillips is a tank of a CB who is great in the air doesnt pee about with the ball just clears it, Williams is younger & needs coaching, but the midfield is our motor without it driving us forward we dont have or create the chances we need to score, i've said this to Jurgen on the 'fans board' at LFC but no one listens

Having to play midfielders as defenders has such an effect on the team. Means we can’t create as many chances and our fullbacks may not feel as comfortable pushing forward if there’s not strong support to defend on. We do need a striker but we’ve been through bad runs before and came through it.

A fair few of our players, although still very decent, are past their peak... Salah, Firmino, Wijnaldum, to a lesser extent Mane... Combine this with the absence of 3 centre halves and Jota plus TAA and Robbo not quite at their best and you have the reasons for our average(by recent standards) results this season

I think this is the main issue. Liverpool managed to bring together a lot of players in the form of their lives for the last couple of seasons. But it can quite quickly turn to an average side if you don't keep replenishing it with younger players. Salah is still good but not the unplayable striker he was recently.

What about the struggles of all other teams in this regard? City don’t have Ageuro and Sterling banging them in anymore, they’ve adapted their game and are finding goals from different sources, focusing on being strong all round. I think City are arguably a better team now because they aren’t relying on the formula that previously brought them success.

People talk about Van Dijk / Matip retuning helping Henderson, etc return to midfield but I don't think that's the issue.

Possession stats still well up, no goals being shipped, etc. Think the issue is more Wijnaldum situation (i.e. leaving but getting played despite falling form) and probably some Salah / Mane issues brewing again. It's more a problem of focused motivation for results...

I think this is the main issue. Liverpool managed to bring together a lot of players in the form of their lives for the last couple of seasons. The front 3 need to improve their decision making. The defence is doing its job despite ever changing personel. Midfield will improve with Thiago getting more minutes and more familiar with his team mates. With so much rest between the last couple of games, none of the players are fatigued. It's a confidence issue and they need to find a settled lineup in midfield to help the misfiring attack.

Agree - LFC score plenty of goals when play is broken up with quick balls forward from both Defence and Midfield. TAA and AR are worrying more about defence. VVD is good at sticking a decent long ball forward to stretch the game.

Unfortunately we did a Liverpool and got big headed in the summer about our squad depth and ability which has bitten us on the bum. Cannot criticise the players for performance in the current climate, albeit the odd player has the odd poor game as usual. Can see all players no matter what club have been struggling with the frequency of games and living a lockdown lifestyle (where possible!!)

They signed Jota during the summer who played exceptionally then got a knee injury from a tackle. You would be unlucky to lose one CB to a ligament injury but 2 is ridiculously bad luck. They signed Tsimikas as back up for Robbo who also got injured in a tackle. VVD / Thiago both injured by a red card tackles. That kind of luck you cannot mitigate, especially when money is tight due to covid.

A lot of talk is about the front 3 not being on form but no one cares to mention that when you take out your 2 1st choice MFs (Henderson, Fabinho) and play them as CBs, it's bound to have a huge negative impact on the strikers. Study the last few league games and you'll see that shots on target has dropped dramatically. It defies belief that we are not signing a CB, even on a short term basis.

Not only that playing your two best shielding CMs (Hendo/Fabinho) as CBs has exposed TAA defensive incapabilities. He's never been brilliant defensively but previously the likes of Hendo/Fabinho/Wijnaldum/VVD would have allowed him to show his attacking qualities. Now when he goes on an attack there's no insurance back-up behind him.

Criticism for Firminho is somewhat justified. He was never a prolific goalscorer. His A game was his link-up play, his vision, and pressing of the opposition defence. All that has dropped big time there's no question about it. Jota cannot return soon enough.

Blimey mate well said. I just dont understand the logic, we 'need' a cb our defence just doesnt work in the same way, wing backs tend to stay back instead of joining the attacks & giving us that extra width. As long as it keeps getting under your skin, it’s worth it. You should have been around in the nineties, when Fergie would moan about absolutely everything.

You talk about those class players like they are a loaf of bread and past their 'sell by' date.

Are Liverpool the only team in top flight history to suffer from injuries??? You'd think so the way they bleat on!

Leicester have sold off several key players and had loads of first teamers out this season.

Liverpool's long ball - chase - fall over routine has been rumbled by opposition team, refs and VAR.

And if you can't beat West Brom and Newcastle then top 4 at best.

Not many of the managerial changes at Chelsea have been due to fan pressure. Benitez was one that wouldn’t be accepted though because of his history, nothing to do with football reasons

Does Klopp have the ability to maintain success? Let’s not forget that while he succeeded at Dortmund for a time, he left the club pretty much where he found it. They finished 6th the season the joined them and they finished 7th the season he left.

Your wrong pal, Dortmund sold Hummels, Lanwandoski and Gothe and wouldn't replace them and it was to Munich their direct rivals. Klopp also got Dortmund ro the German Cup final in his last season. He left because the board no longer want to listen to him....they have regretted it ever since ...they have won sweet FA....get your facts rights...

Why is the BBC wasting their time interviewing this has-been manager whose team will be lucky still to be in the top 6 by the end of the month based on their current form!
