Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has declared he will do things "my way" from now on - but are there signs it is the right way?
It's not a fair comparison with benitez, Bruce has a far better squad on paper than benitez ever had.... He just seems to have no idea how to use it, bar the all out defence tactic hoping to get a lucky goal etc... He's been there 18mths he can't moan on about being a work in progress.
the team are obviously not coached well, ever other pass is yard away from where it should be etc.

Agree on all points, the article implies that Bruce is new and theres signs of improvement. Hes been there long enough to have his own players in place. What has it been 4 transfer windows? Why do you think fans were desperate for the takeover.....

It has become a staple comment from the media 'experts' that Steve Bruce is a nice guy and his playing record was impressive. Sadly though his personality, and playing career, does not alter the fact that as manager of Newcastle United he is a failure. His interviews are cringeworthy, littered with clichés and excuses. I suspect his job has been saved by the empty stadia.
Every single member of that team, perhaps with the exception of Darlow, has regressed under Bruce. The likes of Schar, Almiron, Shelvey, and Lascelles are shadows of the players they were before. Whilst I'm sure Bruce is a nice guy, he is not cut out for this job...we need a new direction and the players need a manager with more than just one plan...
As a Villa fan, looking at Newcastle now was just like Villa were under Bruce, Let's not lose attitude. Sometimes I am sure we were trying to defend a 1v0 losing position. We always passed the ball sideways or backwards and there was no confidence in the team at all. I fear that Newcastle are doing the same under Bruce.
All 'good' football managers should be able to 'add value' to their players over a season, whatever the level. Effective training does not always have to be expensive.
Not a Newcastle fan & to be honest, I'm glad I'm not. They are dire, no other word for it.
However they have a great bunch of fans & it's them I feel sorry for.
If stadiums were open I'm not convinced he'd have survived as long as he has because they're a pretty vocal bunch who don't treat fools lightly & Bruce certainly fits the bill.
Negative play=negative results

While Bruce keeps playing JoeLinton we will be ‘man down’ in every match as the guy is out of his depth.
Sean Longstaff needs to get his ‘big time Charlie’ head off and start producing again and stop giving the ball away.
We are slow in possession and play square and back under moderate pressure too easily.
Bruce needs to draft in some tactical / coaching knowledge or else we /him are dead meat.

The biggest problem is that Ashley's coaching appointments are dire. (Rafa actually approached the club with a proposal) Being a yesman is more important than ability to do the job. Apparently Bruce was 6th choice, and its obvious why. He's messed up everywhere he's managed and is only performing true to form. I hope he goes with his anti-tactics anti-football, sooner the better,
V Sorry for Newcastle fans but post Brexit, Brucie and Sam A have a job for life... '36 months in any competition from band 1 to band 5. You also need a Uefa Pro licence and proof your English is good enough to, among other things, ambitions and give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans”. “describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes" Would Marcelo Bielsa meet these criteria?
So the comments open up more than a day after the article is published? Great work BBC.
Dean Richards has the weekend off ... perhaps he could show Bruce how to motivate the team.

No hope at all
So after 8 months this man has a plan. What did he have for the18 months - they are now as bad as they have ever been. Relegation has to be a certainty unless.......
Who cares, old potato head is a dinosaur. Let's just hope for a villa rampage on Saturday.UTV.
You can’t just throw loads of attacking players on the pitch without a system that doesn’t include panic passing around the defence before we pass back to the keeper to lump up the pitch!
