This just shows your lack of intelligence. What about trade friction with Northern Ireland, the loss of equivalence for London, all the small businesses that now incur higher costs to trade with the EU, VAT registration for small companies is a nightmare and expensive. The end customer have to pay more for items being delivered and VAT which is different in countries of the EU. still 0.01%? Removed

"Incompetent Government" - sadly true - there's no better barometer of that than the car-crash response to covid.
We have done no worse than any other EU country and far better re vaccination. The reason we have a large number of deaths is because England, is the most densely populated country in Europe & nearly in the entire world due to mass immigration. We are the number one air transit hub in Europe. We have the largest number of chinese students who brought and spread the virus. Think more clearly. Removed
18/01/2021 15:04:13 14 0

I suggest you check the numbers for Singapore. And they have a very large Chinese population.
The reason for our appalling death rates is down to dithering by Boris - in March (lockdown two weeks late), September (cases taking off, little done for two months) and December (gov. learnt about new variant 8th Dec. and waited a month). Got the vaccination right, but that's all.
18/01/2021 15:05:32 8 0
bbc
Not sure where you get your figures from. Quick search put Frankfurt as largest hub, with Heathrow at #3. I accept that there are densely populated areas but there are also parts where the sheep to people ratio approahes that of NZ.
Part of reason we have large number of deaths may relate to the damage done but Covidiots who got away with it (legally if not physically).

Temporary transition problem, not an end of the world scenario that Remainers had hoped for though eh?

Perhaps we should have stayed in the EU and waited longer to vaccinate fewer of our people?

Perhaps one day stop lying (I won't hold my breath)

The vaccine roll-out was approved while we were following EU "rules", during the transition period.

Boris is taking stick from fishermen and hauliers as well as others of business sense or dependence on import-export trade, but before we condemn utterly we should reflect on the context, his class fear - from cradle to Eton, Oxford to Spectator, MP to Mayor, Brexiteer to McCarthyite PM - that any 'threat to privilege', even for a spell of Corbyn decency, might hasten real democracy, The End.

Given what's happening with FS, I'm concerned that we might be more than 'tad bit' poorer. Too much of UK GDP is reliant on services. Too late to make a major transformation in the short to medium term. Too little innovative thinking has gone into 'building back better'. Too little strategic planning. Too little focus on food security, for eg. Nothing inspiring. Same old, same old.

Talk me through the mechanics of how a UK national will no longer be able to study / work / live in the EU if they want to. Aren't UK nationals now on the same footing as the citizens of the other 160-odd countries that aren't in the EU. Sounds fair enough, except for the Hooray Henry's who used the Erazmus scheme as taxpayer funding for their European Grand Tours.

EU migrants had to support themselves or they could be sent home. That's what they brought to the table. What they also brought was a greater contribution to the economy than British citizens or non-EU migrants. So we've now replaced them with non-EU migrants (the lowest contributing group) with net immigration to March 2020 of 316,000. What a waste of time.

What comes next, with a new Administration, is likely to be a renegotiation of Johnson's weak & problematic UK EU deal, so that some of the inbuilt issues like this red tape are alleviated. Something akin to EEA or EFTA, which Farage, Johnson & others were so keen on in 2016.
