Not even close to a title decider, City have a large group of games coming where they should be getting max points, the team has started to tick in the past few games too, think they might go on an unbeaten run for a while, especially if Liverpool/United ends up a draw

Why are people getting carried away with Man Utd being top they would be mid table if it wasn’t for the amount of penalty’s the receive. I ha e seen plenty of teams top after new year and crumble. They are punctual why above their weight at min and wouldn’t be surprised that the luck they have had will even out and they will go on a poor bit of form and won’t finish in top 4.

However, I fear a dull, let's not get beat set up from Ole, to be fair, I don't blame him. If we snatch a fluke 1 - 0 win, its a six point gap.

I'd hate to ref a NW red derby. Usually its so easy for the ref - just give every decision to Utd or Liverpool! Don't worry, the VAR team will back you... That's why these games are so often a borefest, the ref cannot just give everything someone in red demands..

Rather an oversight to omit Martial from the Divers list! His flop against City in the recent derby was truly magnificent and must have had the others worried. His hurt expression afterwards was also a classic - the ref. didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. So expect a masterpiece deep into unaccountably extended time.

They're all at it in all of the teams & not just in the penalty area! The pundits all condone it......its almost expected. How often do you see a defender do it when he's in a bind? Regularly. United fan of 40 years.

I'd take a draw now, but I genuinely hope it's a barnstorming game with lots of goals.

However, I fear a dull, let's not get beat set up from Ole, to be fair, I don't blame him. If we snatch a fluke 1 - 0 win, its a six point gap.

Hopefully the football will do the talking.

If the table is anything to go by they are the two best teams in the PL at this time (Man City game in hand aside) and the "best" we currently have.

BBC slavering this fixture with hype so lets hope its not a gutless standoff.

Top quality players, astronomical salaries, everything to play for, no excuses.

Good luck to both.

As a Man Utd I don't know why this was published. I also think Liverpool will score early and end up beating Utd comfortably 3 or 4 nil. All Liverpool need is a bit of luck & they'll be back on track. Obviously I want to see Utd win but I just can't see it. Not sure about light years, in fact without Van Dijk (and Gomez) Liverpool are way short of the team they were for the 2/3 of last year.

As a Man Utd I don't know why this was published. I also think Liverpool will score early and end up beating Utd comfortably 3 or 4 nil. All Liverpool need is a bit of luck & they'll be back on track. Obviously I want to see Utd win but I just can't see it. By the way I think Man City are the biggest threat to Liverpool winning the PL. Pep have got them playing really well. Only time will tell.

No I have supported Utd since 1962. I saw them relegated to Div 2. George Best is still the greatest football of all time IMO. Watched the 68 European Cup final & seen lots of ups and down. Their defence is still very vulnerable and only one mistake away from conceding an easy goal. Look what City did to them at OT, Utd didn't really look like scoring. Pep & Klopp are better managers than Ole IMO.
Well done Dean Smith. Premier League Manager Of The Month for December.
Seems like the BBC want to avoid this award. Up The Villa

Why is the manager of the team with the lowest points total the manager of the month?? Because he won a game after God knows how many months??

Both good teams, both get WAY too many penalties. Why?

Because both sides get in the box more than the Sheffield's and Burnleys of this world so the laws of averages mean they'll have more chances to dive and win a pen

Not a positive sign when a club's players - Pogba and now, Fernandez - talk up their chances before the game even starts!

Best team and favourites - Liverpool.

Over acheiving team and underdogs - United

Best thing for football - United win and Liverpool chase.

Finally - Pogba - Why?

Seems to be quite a few Utd fans on here almost embarrassed at being top?

Utd not over achieving, more that other teams are under achieving - ye couple of results went their way but they missed a few at start of season too - I've said before Pool are best team but they're not doin it just now are they?

It's just over a week since utd were well beaten by MCFC'S weakened team, yet Pogba and Fernandes are getting giddy about winning the PL.
Liverpool will put them in their place, Maguire and Co won't cope with Liverpool's attack.

It's always harder to retain the title than win it and I don't think Liverpool are quite good enough to do that. Man Utd are too inconsistent performance wise to win the Prem. Which leaves Man City really as my favorites for this season. Performances and results improving. Time will tell, you can disagree with my assessment that's fine. Arsenal fan so no dog in this race.

Agree - unfortunately - Liverpool's squad look burnt out after 2 phenomenal seasons and I cannot possibly complain.

Benches / squad depth will win the league - and City's is the best.

I've seen a lot of people saying City will win the league as they are currently playing well. Another train of thought is, both United and Liverpool don't need to be better than City or have a better squad, they just need to keep winning.

I would take a 1-0 win with the goal coming from a VAR reviewed penalty, rather than an exciting 4-3 loss with no penalty at all. If people don't commit fouls, however soft, in the 18 yard box there will be no penalties.
