Ronnie wins last frame. Cue ( see what I did there) post match interview. "I was rubbish, Ding should have won, I didn't feel well, staying in a hotel is crap" etc etc. Boring Ronnie!!!
Im guessing you are a Selby fan, as all boredom stems from him. I feel you are being disrespectful to the atmosphere :-)
The GOAT
Brilliant match to watch, Ding has a problem with beating Ronnie in that he mentally believes he can't and has wilted a few times now before the finishing line against him.
Well played both players.
Well played both players.
Ronnie O'Sullivan will win his 8th Masters and his, 21st triple crown this weeek, not bad considering my nephew Judd Trump has 3 triple crowns
Ronnie looked a lot sharper than he did before Xmas - suspect he got a bit lazy after the world and wasn’t really practising.
Ding played exceptionally well for most of the match, but to beat an in-form O’Sullivan you have to keep it up until the very end otherwise he’ll come back at you.
Vintage stuff. Awesome standard of snooker.

He was odd even for him coming up to Christmas, certainly didn’t seem as interested. Today though he was back to his full focus
He was looking out of focus before Christmas, even though he made 2 back to back finals. You could tell how lack of practice was impacting because he made dreadful starts in every match in every round (another 0-3 start today so he does need to sort this problem).
You are bang on, he said as much in interviews. He wasn't practising, just playing in tournaments. I reckon the pasting Mark Selby gave him in one of the recent finals probably motivated him to start practising again.
Wow, what a fabulous match. Attacking, positive play of the highest quality from both players. Shame it was only over 11 frames.
Ronnie, a genius. GOAT.
utter horsemunch - ding never beats him always chokes. Once in over 10 years i think. He totally had him then just missed a succession of pish easy pots. Almost like it was fixed they were so bad. And it keeps happening to o'sullivan. None of the kids coming through are anywhere near top 16 just potters no bottle - just the same old basfords winning - even im getting bored and im a snooker nut
ironic that one of the best players ever , has never got a good word for the game he plays, made him a millionaire but hey it's a burden for him and he does it for us...
The only burden you should concern yourself with is the old firm on the people of Scotland.
Very high standard of play from both players. Ronnie didn't really get a look-in in the first 3 frames, then fought back.
Ding, if we're being honest, threw the win away. He made some bad pot choices when the winning line was in sight.
I guess that's what happens when you're playing the GOAT - there's huge pressure on you to capitalise when Ronnie is slightly below his best.

Ding should have won, had more than enough chances.
Just find he lacks the bottle to punish Ronnie.
Couldn't imagine Selby letting him through that easily.
Ronnie put his chances away, but didn't have to work too hard for them

Ding has never had the bottle, which is a shame because he played well for the most part in the match. That last red he missed with the brown over the middle bag was unforgivable I could have won it from there for him!
No bottle?

he's one of only few on the snooker tour who can take the game forward and hit greater heights, so many who are fumbling and bumbling around clogging up the tour, not surprised Ronnie has a few demons and doesn't give full rounded interviews because when he is gone the game could die
Pity it wasn’t final , always next time mr ding

The article is irrelevant to the discussion we are having. You are clutching at straws.
Obs top class at something is just that but Ronnie is above that, to produce under pressure like that, i'm speechless.
shame for anyone who doesn't have the Internet and can't watch it.
It was on the red button. You don’t need the Internet for the red button. You’ll find it on your remote. It’s a red button. Not the one that turns the tv off, the other one. You’re welcome

Two great players........A shot which was tight on the cush defined Ronnies lingering class.
I dont understand why I had to access the live game via the red button whilst BBC2 was showing a rerun of the previous frames of the same game??
Because by showing frames already played the program can be planned for length... when live, it's harder to predict and so the repeat of cash in the attic from 8 years ago might have to be delayed and that would never be right.
RO. Perhaps not the most successful cue man of all time in terms of titles won, but talent?
The most gifted, natural, genius of a player on a table, that the world has ever seen.

He's won more Triple Crown events than anyone
not the most successful cue man of all time in terms of titles won... ?
More majors than anyone, and more ranking titles... so he is the most successful too I believe
He’s won more of the big four titles than any player in history and more ranking titles than any other player in history, he only sits one behind in WC wins....
If he hadnt had mentail health issues, and a more *dig in and grind it out* mindset which you need for the crucible, he would have won 15 world titles, that should be obvious surely?
Think you need to do your Maths lol.. i think you will find he's the most successful player ever, And if he wins this he will be the youngest and Oldest player to ever win it!!

The GOAT
Cynical. Pointless. Without merit. Designed to goad a reaction on here.
Nah not such high profile players. Stop looking for drama where there isn't any.
Not an especially cynical view. Just a stupid one.

Ding could have achieved lot more than that. When he was younger he had no fear and knew he had to work hard to reward his family. But when he's got enough money and fame, and he also make money from his fame in China, that's when he stays in his comforts. Deep inside he doesn't want to improve any more, sad.

Won't be watching til Ronald is knocked out
The way he goes about his business is a terrible example for snooker, and sport in general. The last straw for me was playing on in frames where he needed about 12 snookers. What an absolute disgrace he is.

It took you till then, surely those who can’t stand him like you do, clearly made their mind up way before the end of last year
Ronnie rules
shame for anyone who doesn't have the Internet and can't watch it.
And you commented on someone being cynical...you add patronising to yours too
Just to enlighten you, snooker lovers outside of the UK do exist... Who also have access to the BBC website, so your red button sarcasm has flaws... Brexit much?

?? Love it. Ronnie has been around 25 years and the guy has only just hit his last straw!

Disappointing usual story, Ding nevers mentally grows strong. He seriously needs hard training in that aspect if he only chooses to, sad to see his talent fails on his mental strength and he doesn't perhaps know what fails him.
Great player Ronnie, only second behind Stephen Hendry as the greatest of all time.
He has everything on Hendry apart from WC wins, he's already proved himself as the GOAT ??
Ding is a great player but he has no bottle, had a feeling he'd lose even from 5-3 up
He has literally every record going, most uk champs, most masters, highest total triple crown titles, most ranking tournaments, most 147s, fastest 147, most century breaks, youngest winner of a ranking title and mostbcareer prize money. Only record he doesn't have is world titles and he's only 1 behind. Yeah not the most successful...

2nd is not bad though, should be proud. No disgrace being behind Hendry

I prefer the Snooker coverage to be presented by Seman Jiswell over Jason Mohammad, she has better knowledge of the sport and the different shots played.
Dont get me wrong........I quite like Virgo9,s contribution etc etc.........BUT..........If John had applied 1% of what he now preaches from his cosy chair,he would have won 10 Masters and 11 World Titles on the trot.
A shade cocky but bearable.

I forgot to add....Parrot is even more cocky cocksure of himself........irritating even
He didn’t have the ability. He has always known that and has the appropriate levels of humility. Your comment is misguided.
Virgo annoys me when he goes into 'in my day' mode because he completely misremembers how poor the standard was in his day.
Only me,snooker get real, the best man won end of

How many more chances does Ding want to close out! That 9th frame was virtually handed to him.
Great game, Ronnie looks focused for the Masters

The overall standard is higher these days. Ronnie's 6 was a tougher get than Hendry's 7. Not especially biased either. I prefer Hendry as a person but back when he was tearing it up, the strength in depth wasn't there. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.
Can't think of any sportsman at the top of my head who has been in the top few players in the world for so long. Must be at least 25 years now. Maybe Phil Taylor?
Maybe? Taylor was at a much higher standard in darts than Ronnie has been in snooker. Even with Ronnie winning the worlds, he's been fairly standard for a while now. Taylor was the most feared player for 30 years.
Steve Davis........The complete very opposite of his title of boring Steve. On the contrary......his contribution to commenting/discussions etc etc is extremely interesting. I love listening to that bloke because his insight/opinions are extremely enjoyable.
Agreed! Davis is always great value and from what I've heard, a genuinely good bloke away from the table too.
total rubbish. whoever wins the world title that year he just declares them the greatest player ever seen. hes good entertainment but his analysis is total nob whump
Lot better than the totally ott John "never predicts anything correct" Virgo... cannot stand him and disappointed he's back.. took less than 30 seconds of him before I switched to Eurosport.
it's always been a bit of a persona hasn't it? Both Davis and O'Sullivan are serious snooker players who love their sport and have a lot of intelligent and interesting things to say about it. The 'boring'/'flamboyant' labels are mostly marketing...
It was fun for a while and I don't know about anyone else, but comparing champions last and present is a waste of time. Players can only compete in the era they find themselves in. As the sport evolves, the necessary attributes that make great champs will, by definition, also evolve. I think many players could be much better if they looked after themselves more.
Looking at who is left in the masters O’Sullivan should win this easily.
He has literally every record going, most uk champs, most masters, highest total triple crown titles, most ranking tournaments, most 147s, fastest 147, most century breaks, youngest winner of a ranking title and mostbcareer prize money. Yep. I had the fortune of playing American pool with him once in an exhibition.
He egged me on to go for a wild shot to win against him, which I duffed and launched the ball across the club, to which he went running off to retrieve it for me.
Top bloke the Nugget!

Ever since Ronnie battered Ding in the masters or UK champs final (can't remember which) and Ding broke down i think its messed Ding up when it comes to playing Ronnie and he breaks down when it starts getting tight. Ding is a quality player just needs a better mindset.

Don’t know about standard being better now.
White never won it and players like Doherty were excellent too.
You can only beat who is in front of you. Stephen did that like Jack Nicklaus any many said Tiger had it harder when he won.
But ask Palmer Player and Watson is standard wasn’t as good.
Still think only because of world titles Stephen is GOAT

Rubbish I see more easy pots missed now than in the 90s and the fact that Ronnie, Higgins and Williams are still top ten players in their mid 40's proves the standard of players today is not great, only trump Robertson and Selby would have been top players back in the 90s
