Morrisons to be first UK supermarket to pay minimum £10 an hour

Rival supermarkets defend their pay, with Asda saying looking at hourly rates does not tell the whole story.
On a lighter note,

My mate Arbuthnott can remember a time when he could visit Morrisons for bread, eggs, milk, leg of lamb, fresh vegetables, breakfast cereals, sugar & tea with only a fiver in his pocket!

Apparently, surveillance cameras put a stop to all that.

Low wage economy in UK is a direct result of Labour policies and inaction. They introduced min pay then deliberately allowed it to become normal default pay rate. They then allowed unlimited access for low paid workers from new EU countries from Eastern Europe. No other EU country did this. They have since failed to address their mistakes.Tories have stolen the right to represent the working class Removed

Low pay in the UK falls firmly at the Labour Parties door.

Didn't you make this up earlier? Oh, you did. How much do you get paid for this diatribe?

There is no god given right to earn a certain amount. Min wage should be scrapped and set a level playing field so we can compete. If people want more money, either worker longer/harder or get skills that enable them to get a better job. Simple.

Labour didn’t help those on min pay by introducing Student fees. They gave the green light to increase these and hardly opposed the rises. Now our students leave uni with massive debt and have to work for min pay (introduced by Labour) They're to blame for this problem and in fact the Tories have raised min pay more than Labour ever did.Labour, under Starmer no longer represents working classes. Why is it now allowed for people to post Tory party political statements that are off topic, is this part of the new BBC policy of 'balance' that's skewing the organisation even further to the right?!?

At this rate, you may as well just admit to being a mouthpiece for the government, tossing aside your once proud non partizan approach to being a media provider for the people. ??
