Leeds United are electric! Probably the best transfer of the season is Raphinia, bargain at £17m, I would not be disappointed in the slightest if I heard Leicester were interested in him, brilliant work rate, pace and technically very very good. Bizarre team selection by Ralph for Southampton but they have the right manager in charge.

Its weird how people look at things differently isnt it? I thought we were much better against wolves and lost. I felt we were awful in the first half today and though we scored 3 goals in the second, we never really controlled the game as we should have. Roberts is not really a midfield player and I felt they were coming through our midfield far too easily. But we won so im happy!

They have got to start booking players for diving. It is endemic in the Prem and too many penalties are being given for it. Fortunately, Mariner realised he'd been conned but did nothing about the player's simulation

Leeds fully deserved this win – they always put in a shift …win or lose! Saints will complain about the penalty which was a clear dive. As for the disallowed goal if you don’t know that you can’t take a free kick until the ref blows then you need to read the rules.

Is there now a rule that prevents a quick free kick? If there is then that's another backward step from the authorities. I wondered about that recently as it certainly is the case that refs waste more time than anyone on free kicks.

Agreed and I like Ralph but he mustn't get into the habit of publicy critcising his players. It is counterproductive. Delighted with this victory – Saints v unlucky. I honestly thought we were toast at half time, but Saint Bielsa made the difference in the 2nd half.
Now, here’s my question…..why should players have to wait for the ref to take their free kicks. Surely the ref needs to be ready, and its up to the attacking team when they want to take it. As I said, the Saints were unlucky.

I agree - As per the rule book unless the the ref blows and then indicates a restart on his whistle (Usually when there is a wall etc. and it needs pacing out) then the ball should remain live. Not sure if this was the case in this instance.

Absolutely - I found this from Ask a Soccer Referee" from a year ago: " Free kicks can be taken immediately, without any signal by the referee. The only time a free kick is delayed is if the referee decides to make the restart “ceremonial” (meaning a whistle is required before the restart can be taken) and the referee is the only one who can make that decision". So a quick free kick can occur.

No doubt about it- survival has to be top priority this season. Anything more than that is a bonus. Assuming that happens- and I think it's a fairly likely scenario- then the club can look at moving on and improving next season. Yet another defeat for Southampton - they must be worrying about the form of those below them now. Will be an amazing plummet to get relegated from where they are in the league but judging by their lack of heart, they may well go down.

Leeds should be safe this season, but would need a run of wins to push for Europe/Top 6 (and for higher teams to falter). Leeds play West Ham/Chelsea soon, followed by ManC, Liverpool, then ManU from 11-25 April. Need to take lots of points from those top tier games, and win most others. Unlikely, but still possible. Leeds will attack, and pressure will be off if Leeds are safe from relegation.

If the ref has indicated that the free kick can only be taken after the whistle (as indicated by holding the whistle up and clearly pointing to it AND saying ‘on my whistle’ ) which is what happened, then this means a quick free cannot be taken. If the ref hasn’t indicated this a quick free kick can be taken. Generally the referee will insist on it when the free kick is a dangerous area ..

Great team performance. Having three centre backs worked against the Southampton press. A tiring opposition and a clean sheet meant that Leeds' energy made all of the difference, in the second half. It took long enough for the waistcoat to finally realise that Grealish was the best English playmaker, now Bamford from Leeds and Maddison from Leicester must get a start for England due to their ability and the form that they are in, even though they do not possess double barrelled surnames.
Time for Rashford, Greenwood and Abraham to have a rest from the England squad.

Totally agree but it won’t happen. Anything to justify not picking the likes of Bamford, Grealish and Maddison. England will scrape through group the crash out in quarters. A decent manager picks in form players

Best English playmaker?

Best at slowing the game down and conning fouls. Foden, Mount and Sterling are miles ahead of Grealish.

I'm a leeds fan 30years and have seen some great strikers .bamford isn't one.He has done well but a proper player..vardy for example in that team has 18 to 20 goals. He has missed some stinkers too.
If he gets an England cap...things must be getting rough for you lot

I wish Bamford would declare for Ireland now. He is good enough to get at least 50 caps in the rest of his career. If he sticks with an ambition to play for England, he is not likely to get as much as 5 caps, if any.
Has Southgate given a first cap to anyone as old as 27?

Beaten by the referee and VAR in the first half.

Beaten by Leeds in the second half. Football is finished.

The young lad should have been booked ( although he looks like he has got a bit of talent) and all the Leeds players heard the whistle and stopped. So...

The joys of being a saints fan! Last season things were looking really positive and then get hammered again 9-0, go on a massive losing streak. Every VAR decision seems to go against. Injuries mounting up. Now all we have to look forward to is getting beat by Bournmouth in the cup and hopefully avoid relegation!

looks like Leeds are definitely back in the big time for at least a good few seasons to come. Yes, Southampton are on a bit of a dip of late, but make no mistake, they're a fine side and can beat anyone on their day.

Don't go too early. Bielsa goes season by season, and you gotta take into account second season syndrome. Leeds style.might ensure they don't fall foul of this, but I wouldn't count my chickens.

I doubt there's a Leeds fan who won't be nervous until we can't mathematically get relegated. We have been out of the PL for 16 years remember. It would be just our luck that we go down with the highest points total ever or something daft. Keeping an eye on Fulham every game. No fat lady singing in our house yet, mainly cos the neighbours complain.

Raphinha undoubtedly one of the leagues best players this season, you look at the likes of Havertz and pepe and its hard to argue he is not easily a £60-80 million pound player. Dont need to sell hopefully here for next season aswell.

Should be like a traffic light system for simulated dives. Green a warning, amber a yellow card and red a one match ban. It needs to be addressed ASAP

Dive and a yellow card.

I agree it should be addressed but it should be a straight yellow for the first dive and then sent off for the 2nd dive.

Nice idea. I would have a yellow for first offence, Red for second and a 2 game ban-players going down at the slightest touch, like a sack of spuds!

Use VAR to book divers after the game. If they know they are going to get found out and busted they will stop doing it.
