yet another example of an irresponsible piece of reporting by the BBC. When children are worried enough about their futures let them worry even more by publishing details of discussions over something that may never happen. Or if it does then the details will have been ironed out. Shame on you BBC

Is this Gavin fella the worst ever minister in living memory?

Sounds like a camp Jeremy Hardy or Brian Cox with the intellect of a potato.
Do you have to be a moron for a Cabinet job these days!

This is idiotic, if they can sit mini exams, they can sit normal ones.
I believe the idiot is you. the normal ones are used as the sole determinator of your grade these are mini exams that can provide guidance to how teachers grade. Very different and that is why this might be possible when the normal ones aren't. Removed

Embarrassing, emojis are for kids or brainless adults.
Any initiative that takes away the exclusivity of grading from teachers is a must. Over the last 10 months teachers have manged to do very little, whist enjoyed full salary and full breaks. To top it up they were enabled to decide students grades, thus essentially grading how good they were. They were the judge and jury. Students must be externally examined to find out how good they actually are Removed

Because a micro exam covering only partial areas of the whole syllabus would determine this ?

Yep a way of externally assess is good. Now the rest, teachers doing little anecdotal evidence again? FAIL. please supply figures facts in your thesis we would like to assess your comment properly, Teachers have been working as best they can, from home, school, a vid' can be from there too, teaching in school. As for exams, only prove what they leaned not how good they are at using it n for what?

I couldn't agree on the judge and jury, I don't want to grade my students; I want them to sit exams, like most teachers and students do, because it's the fairest approach. However I have been in College every day, since the pandemic started, but as you say I haven't done a jot of work in the holidays, I never do. The holidays are why I became a teacher.

Typical of the far right.

Know nothing loud mouths.
When did teaching become just a job for people who don’t really fit the role. It used to be a calling of people who cared. Removed

Instead of teaching our kids it seems most teachers are here in HYS. No wonder our education is in dire state. Pupils must be exmained externally to remove the bias by teachers. Teachers then must be assessed against these results and as they say "cream will rise to top". The teachers who don't make the grade must be dismissed for contractual failure. Taxi for teachers

Williamson is out of his depth but not the only one. I find it amazing that the Tory supporting bbc are allowing an assault on the sacrificial lamb, but closed the other chat after Johnson was caught lying about lockdown and free school meals.

You are meant to scrutinise not place a wall of protection around those starving kids and placing our lives at risk

All we ever hear on here is teachers moaning that the government are asking them to do stuff they don’t want to or agree with, yet all we also hear from teachers is that the government don’t do anything or don’t tell or advise teachers what to do.
Make your minds up, what do you want?

Bit of advice for all you budding students. I went to school every day throughout my childhood. What did it teach me? Absolutely nothing. And here i am with my own house and car, all paid for.

As a student yourself shouldn't you be spending your time in a virtual lesson or be nose-deep in your work? Why are you spending time on here during school hours.

This time is for us layabouts and remote working skivers.
The fact that he is interested in an area that will potentially affect his future is impressive. You’re the type that will complain about the younger generation not caring and when they do you complain as well. I think it’s brilliant that he is reading sections like this. Also there’s a thing called free period, breaks etc. Silly moron Removed

I'm an a level student and my peers and I are finding daily lessons hard enough, never mind studying for exams even if they are 'mini.'

So many of us are experiencing poorer mental health than we ever have before and don't know how to cope. It is very difficult to motivate yourself when you have no control. Whatever is decided, I hope the stress they are putting us under is considered.

It's tough, buit welcome to the real world. You find it hard to motivate yourself ? Wait until university. Struggling with stress ? Try working from 9am until 10pm every day for weeks to finish a project. Try working in an environment where bosses scream abuse at you in an open office or collegues bully you. Try being worried sick about losing your job and possibly your house. That's stress.
SICK + TIRED OF THE INGRATITUDE OF SOME PEOPLE WHO WOULD PREFER THE TAX PAYER TO FOOT THEIR WHOE SHOPPING BILL.

I AM MORETHAN HAPPY TO RECIEVE A FREE FOOD PARCEL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NO KIDS.

AND SO WOULD THE PEOPLE IN NORTH KOREA.

IF YOU CAN EAT CARROTS, BREAD, BEANS THEN WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT?

CRISPS,ICECREAM?CHOCOLATE,CAKE!!!????

Gavin Williamson sacked as Defence Secretary for being an incompetent ass. So why is he still Education Secretary?
Sacked for leaking. As Defence Sec. Yet still holds a govt position. How? The man is an utter cretin, and a total disaster to whatever portfolio he holds. Much like the rest of the corrupt trough-feeders, only more so. Removed
Please save us from this village idiot. Removed
That stupid policewoman who fined a couple for travelling less distance than Boris did for her bike ride needs a mini examination too
. I'd check both ends to see which runs its brain.

Chav Williamson is the antithesis of education, if he worked for a company the incompetent idiot would have been sacked a long long time ago.

Either Con standards are at rock bottom or they're dragging the gutter to find MPs.
