Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele went from villain to hero as the Seagulls beat Newport 4-3 on penalties at Rodney Parade after an entertaining 1-1 draw.
John Aldridge will always be a Newport Country legend... On hearing the news that he would be joining Liverpool he was quoted as saying..... "I bought a brand new car and drove up to Liverpool, parked it outside my digs".... "That was the last time I saw it".

The name "Aldridge" is derived from the Anglo-Saxon alr or alre + wic meaning 'alder (tree) + village'. Another suggestion is that the name "Aldridge" means "outlying farm among alder-trees", from the Old English alor and wic.
and there is a reason why :)
even the great generals Arthur Wellesley and Frederick Roberts and neither Irish surnames either

lol. well it comes down to the Plantations of Ulster, the Tudor Conquest of Ireland and the Desmond Rebellions victories, of which we migrated there to impose English law and influence and snuff out any gaelic culture that that they could identify with.
