Fed up hearing the tired, flimsy argument that children must be in school for the sake of their mental health.

I make no apology for suggesting that children will have far worse mental health problems if they kill one or both of their parents or siblings by bringing Covid home from school.

Far fewer. But that is irrelevant. We would have had far fewer deaths with some competent Tories in charge. Unfortunately all of the reasonable Tories have been hounded out of the party. What we are left with (UKIP) is woefully inadequate for the situation we find ourselves in (they have created).

According to the ONS in England and Wales the number of registered deaths in England and Wales for the last 4 years are:
2017 - 533,253
2018 - 541,589
2019 - 530,841
2020 - 566,417 (figure only goes to the 4 December)

That 2020 figure is quite a bit higher than the previous 3 years and does include the final 27 days of the year and those figures certainly aren't the same.

lockdowns do not work. Have they not realise don’t this yet? I’m off out to stop the tide coming in with a mop and bucket.
Just think .... If we don't test we don't find and if we don't find, we minimise daily reported infections and with minimal reported infections the Covid death rates diminish and if Covid death rates diminish so does public anxiety and if public anxiety diminishes, we return to life nearer normality. Here's something to have a good hard think about.

If we tested for flu in the same way as we do for covid-19, and we attributed deaths to it for everyone that died with 28 days of a positive flu test, what conclusion do you think we might draw?

Would it then be OK to wreck people's lives and the economy, and trample on their rights and freedoms for flu?

It's way past time to end this panic!

It is not the job of government to save every single life. It never has been and could never be so. Only the deluded would claim that to be the case.

In a grown up democracy we have to make trade offs, and for me, providing a quality education to millions of young people beats delaying the deaths of a few thousand very old people by a few months.
