Covid: Regional rules 'probably going to get tougher', says Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson says more areas may need tougher rules, as Labour urges England-wide curbs within 24 hours.

Unfortunately, that was a decision approved by the majority who voted in 2016.

They then approved BJ by a massive no. Of seats in 2019.

But then, the majority is always wrong.

Perhaps if the voters had been offered a vote on the EU’s political aims earlier, it may have changed the course of action. But I can’t remember Labour offering that.....

How exactly are schools "safe"?

Staff are not allowed to wear PPE in the classroom. 4-5 year olds have no concept of social distancing. 30+ households mixing. If it was a rave, the Police would be breaking it up.

Close Primary Schools now.
I disagree. Ensuring our children get a proper education is more important than anything else. And closing primary schools now will affect the poorest and most disadvantaged children disproportionately more than any other.

Instead, lets keep the schools open and target school-aged children to be the first in line for vaccination. Their education is more important than keeping old people 'safe'.

It is pointless keeping them open, they are running on skeleton staffing levels already at my daughters upper school, over half the staff isolating at any one time, no teachers in many of the classes so kids just sit looking at their phones and they won't teach the curriculum as too many kids are absent. It is absolutely pointless sending them in when they are not getting an education in school.
766
03/01/2021 13:21:28 6 3
bbc
You seem to have forgotten the staff who have to be there to ensure the children get their education in your theory.

If you vaccinate all the children (and their will always be omissions judging by general vaccinations) and exclude staff it will be inevitable that schools will be forced to close. There simply will be not be sufficient supervision for them amongst the decimated staff levels.

Err ... what about the teachers? The children are low risk but at high risk of infecting parents, and the teachers are exposed to 30+ households with no PPE.
If you’re going send all the council Jobsworths back to work then fair enough, but that clearly isn’t happening because it’s “too risky” - so apply the same rules to the teachers.

I've thought for a long time that masks should be worn outdoors in public places. If you happen to be downwind of an infected person who coughs or sneezes, being outdoors does not offer a guarantee that those germs are not going to be blown in your face.
Did you wear a mask before Covid? Did you give flu or a cold to someone and they died. A mask doesn't protect you from getting a virus. It reduces the chances of you spreading it from you exhaling, sneezing, coughing, etc. The problem is that people do not know that fact and think that mask wearing makes you immune when it does not. You don't get an intelligent interview when Marr questions politicians, it is merely round and round and round, trying to catch them out on an 'and', 'if' or 'but' - if it's a Tory politician,

or 'What did you have for lunch and what's in your diary the rest of the week?' if it's a Far Left Mcdonnell or Corbyn type.

Perhaps it means Boris is doing all he can just like any other country?

It’s not a simple case of losing only 2 weeks of face to face teaching, for some it will mean far worse long term. Also online learning is very poor in my opinion, some kids will adapt fine but many will suffer.

From the start as public health authorities learned of Covid-19 respiratory virus (pandemic AND mutating potential), pre-vaccine advice should have been an 8-week control-CYCLE (2-3 week strict enough lock-down to quash; 5-6 weeks of 'normality with social-distance'): NHS burden LOW; mutation LOW; bubbles for essential work and education.

70k deaths from Covid = £450 BILLION of Government spending. 150K deaths from cancer EVERY year of ALL ages=only £150 million Government spending on research. Same story for heart disease. This is a story of catastrophic government policy failures.

Cringeworthy appearance on marr. Just more lies, clueless bluster, winged strategy and no plan.

It’s time we admitted Johnson is an inept leader and needs to be removed. He’s not up to the job and apart from more insane ramblings and vague targets he can’t back up, it’s just more confusion

Does any country in the World have a Prime Minister who is more scruffy looking than Boris Johnson?
Every time he appears on TV, he looks like he has just got out of bed, dragged on whatever baggy suit happened to be handy, and appears not even to have combed his hair.
What a fantastic leadership display to portray to the world.
Look at Putin, Macron, Netanyahu, even Trump - then see Boris!
