Since 2018, India have played 26 Test matches 16 away and 10 home against Afg (1), WI (2 & 2), SA (3) and BD (2). Was injured during SA series.
India already have test match specialist bowlers Umesh, Ishant followed by Shami and Bhuvi to chose from.

Bhuvneshwar kumar and Ishant sharma are expected to play against England along with two spinners.
India will rest Bumrah for first 2 test matches.

A good counter-example to convention and sound advice against over-coaching. He must be a strong bloke to be able to make that action work for him. It's all too tempting to wonder how long he can sustain it. Meanwhile, let's see it livening up Test matches for as long as we can.

bumrah is a decent bowler, bowlers like anderson and broad whose records are shocking outside of their own conditions are quite over hyped. If you take the weather conditions away from anderson and broad, theyre mid range bowlers...just saying.

When you have that many test wickets not sure how you can call them mid range bowlers. Of course they will be more suited to home conditions. As most players are. Let me remind you of Gautham Gambhir. Got exposed by Anderson and Broad, like he was 00000 1111. Binary innings in England shall we just dismiss his record in India as being of non relevant because you he played on slow, low pitches.
91
06/01/2021 14:39:08 2 0

Same can be said for many bowlers. You might want to look at Anil Kumble's stats outside of Asia - would put him in the same "mid range" class.

Notably, both Broad and Anderson have a better overall record than Kumble, with regard to bowling average and strike rate, despite his 419 wickets on raging turners - so if they're shocking, what does that say about India's best?

very humble bloke. My son and I were in India watching IPL ans staying in the same hotel as the MI team. My son was getting his autograph and having a picture with him, when Sachin came into the hotel with security. Everybody got shunted of to one side, pushed by the police except for my son, Jasprit said that he was with him and allowed him to stand next to Sachin and get a quick photo. Top bloke

Always good to hear about the humble blokes rising to the top...another example of how pretty doesn't mean effective....takes impressive amounts of inner strength to do that...and very good coaching to let him do his thing...hope he has a terrific career (except when playing the Aussies ??)

Going from memory and the 1 picture above here but he's probably the least chucking bowler out there, his arm is incredibly straight all the way through, more so than anyone totally orthodox who will normally have it bent at the point they start delivery then straighten it, Bumrah has it straight all the time.

I agree Dave. The person who said he was a chucker, either didn't know the laws or hadn't analysed his action in slow motion

Bumrah definitely does not have his arm straight the whole time, there is a good amount of hyperextension there (even mentioned in the article) and his arm definitely straightens (meaning there is at least some flex, the element that would make an action illegal).
Having a bent arm doesnt make someone a "chucker", having a bent arm that straightens does. It's about flex, not bend.

Anyone who is serious about cricket knows that in these days of multiple angle TV and multiple replays it is not possible to get away with an illegal action in 1st class cricket. Those with no serious interest in the game but unhappy at seeing their heroes diminished will convince themselves of the opposite of the truth.

Difficult to judge him on limited test experience and he's only played seven tests in the last two years. Suspect his future probably lies in the shorter game especially given the wealth that can generate .

Not sure where you think he chucks... because his action is unusual? I recall the days of Wasim and Waqar being accused of cheating, then in 2005 when Andrew Flintoff mastered it to do the aussies over, the reverse swing became normal and acceptable.

bumrah is a decent bowler, bowlers like anderson and broad whose records are shocking outside of their own conditions are quite over hyped.

When he first burst onto the scene I laughed a little at his name and his action. But the more I watched the more impressed I became. He is a genuinely exceptional talent: quick but bowls with guile and intelligence, and is able to adjust his bowling to different formats better than most. I hope he plays a lot more test cricket - just not against England!

There is something so totally charming reading about an Indian fast bowler. This also shows how fastbowling had not been associated with India for so long. Even the great Kapil Dev was better known as a swing bowler.

Strange comment. Sure, Broad is a classic medium fast bowler. But Jimmy's action is pretty quirky and he does stuff with the ball, like Bumrah, that is great to watch (albeit more conditions dependent). All 3 are great to watch. Nort sure why this has to be an adversarial debate!
