As the BBC has decided not to open HYS in the cricket section for a while.

I'd like to congratulate England on the appointment of Jacque Kallis. His knowledge should help the batting move forward. Not bad with the ball as well.

I didn't subscribe to the view India would roll over after the first test. They are too good a team for that.
Decent statement made by them so far this test match, but you have to put Australia away when you have the advantage. Batting last won't be easy, so they'll need to put the game to bed this innings. Strong position though.

First session - Aussie fielding poor. Paine not top flight keeper; feet keep getting stuck and so he spills it (a lot). Outfield catching shocking. Gill gifted his wicket when he'd done the hard work. Game never over while Aussies have Hazlewood & Cummins, but India going well. I've always said you need a leg side trap for Smith - even when English pundits declared him ungetoutable.

India need another 150 ideally

Batting last on this wicket won’t be a cakewalk

The Aussie Attack is fantastic so it’s puts Rahane’s innings in perspective , the pitch offered movement , pace and bounce and a little bit of turn too

India deciding to pick 2 spinners could be a masterstroke but they need their batsmen to get them into a position to take advantage

Great Innings by Rahane and, so far, great captaincy. Kohli is a great batsman, but a not so great captain. His captaincy in the IPL was disastrous and India have lost games they should have won, in all formats, due to his poor captaincy.
Leave Kohli to score multitudinous runs. If India had Rahane, or someone similar, as captain instead of Kohli, they could become one of the all-time great teams

There is absolutely nothing wrong with cricket, it's a sport that tests both skill and character, but where either of those can be trampled on by bad luck. People who really know about cricket understand that even great players often get low scores, and duffers sometime make 50. It's only people who don't understand or appreciate the game that think this is in any way odd.

I read that exact comment after day one of the first test, which ended in 2 days and a couple of hours.

If India are putting their batting hopes down under in their spin bowler Jadeja then they will be whitewashed.
That said, Australia can't bat either. Like I said, a lot of rubbish being played.

Yes today have a slight advantage and fair comment look at last Test when the Media were wetting themselves about it ... Boom Aussies bounce back.

Very good century from Indian captain when others are showing their back ,few of them not even club cricket class .One thing about this India captain his calmness & approach unlike his predecessor.Worst fielding from Australian side they rue latter as thing stands right now .After coming & going out pavilion in last rest , here it is better they given rest every body including themselves.

India shelled a few catches too in the 1st Test & sometimes such things happen - even a decent fielding side can have an off day in the field just a decent batting-up line up can collapse inexplicably as India did in the previous Test. All this is what makes sport so intriguing!

I remember the last time India had a first innings lead against Australia and it didn't end very well for them. If Australia skittle the remaining Indian batsmen in the morning and the Australian batsmen turn up it will make for an interesting 4th innings. Australia have it all to do but they have the batsmen and bowlers to do it.

Like the first days headlines too about India as well, they have no idea so must be the Xmas sherry interference.

They even messed up on the SPOTY Cricket article too giving India an extra 2 runs.
