Coronavirus: EU urges countries to lift UK travel bans

Dozens of countries, alarmed by a new coronavirus variant, have suspended travel links with the UK.
Meanwhile Priti Patel almost single handily nearly undermined a criminal case of people smuggling that resulted in dozens of innocents death! And she's at the top of a negotiating table... Removed

The UK has always controlled its borders. If an airline brought anyone to the UK that didn’t have the right of entry, they had to remove them at their own (airlines) expense. UK Always had control. As a member of the EU, they naturally were expected to admit EU citizens from other countries. But they were never expected to feed them.

Gee, wouldn't it be nice to be part of such a club. We could do our own thing when that's best, and work with others when it's to our advantage. We could even negotiate opt-outs and rebates.

The Swiss, who have agreed to free movement with the EU, have introduced a preferential hiring scheme for Swiss nationals in areas where unemployment is particularly high.

Blundering Boris promised everyone they could be with relatives for Christmas. He was then persuaded this was an idiotic idea, and he would have to make yet another U-turn. Desperate for justification, he talked up the mutation. The world's press picked up on it, causing panic. The rest of the planet is now suffering the effects of Blundering Boris. Yesterday we had 33,000 cases.

France had 6,000
Italy had 11,000
Spain had 7,000
Germany had 19,000

Whether it's because of the new strain or not. We are far more infected than those places right now. We deserve to be banned.

You can't call on our government to close borders on highly infected countries and not expect the same thing to happen to us when we're the infected ones!

I've seen it all now, so we have to pay to do all the covid tests on the French citizens, so they can be allowed back into their own Country, because their own Country decided to close the border with UK. Sorry but why can't France let them back, and then THEY test them and if they test positive then they can isolate at home in their own Country. What happens if they test positive at a UK port?
