Despite the Covid-enforced cancellation of The Open and Ryder Cup postponement, golf in 2020 provided welcome cheer in this largely miserable year, writes Iain Carter.

Although agreeing, the same could be said about long-time Grandstand presenter Frank Bough. SPOTY is now less about sporting achievement and more about who the BBC think they should show support for so as not to upset the PC brigade. Despite what Cpt. Sir Tom Moore has achieved 2020, what sporting feat has he done to get the Helen Rollinson award compared to Leeds rugby league player Rob Burrow?
Frank blotted his copy book with the cocaine and call girls. Understandable they let him go quietly.

Can't argue with that
Despite trying to ram it down our throats, no one outside of a small minority care about Women's sport.
@ Leslie/Maksi: How was Tiger being pushy!?
I watched both nights and he was just a very supportive father. JT and his dad being the same on Saturday.

Pretending women's sport is relevant ruins yet another sports article on BBC.. genuinely no one cares about women's golf

Have just returned from work and this comment is absolutely spot on. It is so refreshing to know that other sports fans share my views on this.
The PC BBC need to just accept that there is little interest in women's sport and this will not change regardless of how much coverage it is given!
Golf, rugby, football - just focus on where the interest is BBC

You know everyone’s thoughts on women’s golf do you!?!? I love women’s golf and watch it so much more than men’s golf. Men’s golf to me is unwatchable as they try and hammer the ball. Women’s swings are more controlled and so much enjoyable to watch. The skill levels around the greens are in my opinion better with the women. I have travelled to many countries watching the LPGA tour.
Oh sorry, didn’t realise you spoke for everyone.
I’d argue that attendance figures in previous years along with tv viewing figures suggests some people are interested.
Give it a rest, eh pal. Women play professional sport too. How about offering them a bit of respect for what they can do instead of branding them “irrelevant”?

The highlight of the year for me, and given we have not had a half decent male player from Norway throughout the history of time, is the emergence of Viktor, who is possibly the best player in Europe as of today?
He is a lovely lad, with a wonderful personality and I wish him all the best when he makes his debut in our Ryder Cup team.
Come on Norway, oh, and Yorkshire :)

So your totally stupid comments on Cricket HYS's have now expanded to totally stupid comments on Golf !
It's hardly refreshing to many to hear your views from Norway.... as it's not exactly a hotbed of excellence and tradition in either sport !
Ever thought of confining your comments to Alpine Skiing and Ice Hockey ? Removed
