This is a taste of things to come as Brexit which was voted for by a majority begins to take effect.

Here we go again.
Several countries have closed their borders to the UK and somehow it's Brexit's fault.

No connection what-so-ever. All the finite capacity of existing lorries planning for Brexit are unaffected and the contingency extra red coaches, made in Germany, are on their way to Turkey to be flown in by the RAF.

ordered some good from west country etailer, chose the cheapest (ie slowest delivery), DHL collected and sent it via air to Frankfurt HUB, held it 2 days before sending to uk for royal mail to deliver

How is it France can control "their" borders whilst in the EU, but the UK has to leave the EU to take back control of its own?

I think the point being made was that we were told that Brexit would give us back control of our Borders. Not if The French close there's it won't.

This is a real omnishambles.

That is not the word I would wish to use but it is suitable for polite company.

It reminds of the Three Day Weeks, the Winter of Discontent, the Miner's Strike, the ERM disaster and countless strikes and disturbances.

It just proves there is nothing new under the sun but governments think otherwise.

I am glad to have retired. I have pity for my former colleagues.

And you are now seeing pressure coming from the EU side to open it again as the drivers affected are EU drivers & companies in the eu are becoming concerned they will have no vehicles to pick up their stuff for delviery to the uk.

From day one of the Christmas period Royal Mail has been a complete shambles. Possibly the reason being that they have made masses of middle management redundant and cleared out all the personnel w8ith the experience to deal with the volumes.
Any idiot would know that the pandemic situation would mean a lot more parcels in the system. If Amazon, Hermes etc can cope why not Royal Mail>

They were a complete shambles here even before Christmas. My local round was in chaos and every time the regular post man was off, they delivered nothing. He has gone now so if we are lucky we got post once a week, otherwise once every other week. Hermes and Amazon have both done well, Royal Mail? Well I can't help recalling an old school joke, Royal Snail!

Buy seasonal British food and you won't have a problem. If you must have fresh strawberries on Christmas Day, thats your choice but don't moan when it costs more!

Royal Mail joins the other disastrous privatizations. Oh and they were struggling long before the Christmas rush began. Not impressed even if I am due my weekly delivery tomorrow. Once it was daily but now we hope for weekly, once went two weeks with nothing.

Posted two letters '1st class signed for' on the 14th December, now the 22nd December and none yet delivered. Went into post office yesterday, the last day for '1st class Xmas delivery' and was told that they were about a week & a half behind with 1st class alone. How many people have been charged 1st class prices in the last week for a service that can't be delivered.

Personally, I would just like the post the Royal Mail should have already delivered to arrive, undamaged.
